  1. Reminds me of the time I went to SCB near Victory Monument. No-one, incl. the branch manager, could speak or understand any English. That is with the exception of the security guard from Myanmar. Also, despite counting the money almost a dozen times, they still managed to give me an incorrect change amount... If I were to open a business in Thailand, it would have to be with only foreign staff; okay the Thais could do some basic cleaning tasks... 😆
  2. Any "humanitarian aid" by Thailand has to step back behind business and financial interests.
  3. To be fair, travelling to other countries, e.g. Thailand, can help the most trusting person to become wary of offers that are too good to be true.
  4. Currency exchange booths in Oz offer ripp-off rates, but trusting a stranger at a hospital to exchange and 'later' transfer funds to one's bank account is very foolish indeed.
  5. And, possibly, if there are website problems, longer layovers in Laos, which will benefit their economy. Thank you, Thailand! 😆
  6. He missed out on the ladies, so he decided to check out the girlie bars in Helsinki...
  7. And out of Thailand? I'm sure, Immigration in Bangkok could easily answer the departure question.
  8. Turns out, the girl he just met is prettier than his girlfriend back home, so he delayed his departure... (Just one possible explanation.)
  9. Love that term and distinction; Koreans working illegally in Thailand are 'criminals', but Thais doing the same in South Korea are "little ghosts"... 👻
  10. "You can enter as many times as you like..." as long as IOs, esp. at airports, grant you this privilege.
  11. Fire those 'why you come so often to Thailand' robots at Arrival in Bangkok, and save all that money, as expats won't be inclined to spend time in other places just to avoid being, possibly, denied...
  12. Maybe he overstayed for a week... 😆
  13. For, at least, the past 27 years, as a Westerner, legally, one could stay in Thailand all year round, using visa-free entries and tourist visas. But then more and more consular offices limited the number of visas one could get, and, increasingly, entry points, esp. some at airports, introduced their own rules. What is "legal" in Thailand, is, at the end of the day, decided by the individual bureaucrat...
  14. Suspiciously missing are the numbers for actual expenditures of all these tourists, or per person... (So, did these fall short of expectations?)
  15. Not been asked in 26 years in and out, even when almost denied...
  16. IOs, in the past, weren't interested in someone's bank balance. Word has always been: embassies (for visa applications) want to see a bank balance, while IOs at the border want to see hard cash...
  17. For the first such report (at a new address) this may be required. Watch out, if your landlord didn't do the TM.30. - Immigration may fine you, while giving a rat's a** what the landlord did, or didn't do...
  18. A beauty queen shouldn't be a drama queen too... 😋
  19. Butter bear?? Googling, I only found butterbeer...
  20. 1997 Financial Crisis?? Still? More like the aftermath of the China-produced Covid pandemic thanks to their best buddies further up north...
  21. They couldn't care less about spouses of Thai citizens. IMHO, the focus has always been on the short-term tourists, i.e. those staying for up to 60 days.
  22. Doesn't Windows 7 work anymore? 🤭
  23. Should be a TAT tourism slogan... 😆
