  1. Come on... The thread is about couple of agents that flagged issues with opening bank account that would in turn cause issue with obtaining Non O retirement. Hand holding (your situation) is done by all agents. Very small number of folk only need hand holding. BTW at agent fee of 2k that you mention is not the agents in this thread is Mots, Tic Tok, Maneerat etc. I know agents and aware of their client base profile.
  2. I left out one word... Should have stated "MOST Folk using agents don't have the 800k
  3. You don't have a visa. You have an extension of stay. Each your to extend the permission of stay you need it based on example retirement or marriage etc. You will be looking to change what your extension is based on. You will need to maintain the financial requirements for retirement until you apply for next extension. You will then present all the docs required for based on marriage. The Thai wife will need to be with you. Here is attached thread and in my first post I have links to other threads etc. Have a read of that info. Come back to this thread for further clarification if required. https://aseannow.com/topic/1314382-change-from-reirement-to-marriage-visa/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1282233-changing-visa-extension-based-on-retirement-to-marriage/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1329482-can-i-switch-back-from-extension-based-on-retirement-to-marriage/ https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=942532&key=2b9c0a3aeb8537d334f181402709b16c
  4. Not sure I follow. If one person is on Non O extensions (retirement) then the non Thai spouse can piggyback on those extensions as a dependent. Does not need to be under 50. For the Non O (dependant) needs to enter Thailand on the Non O
  5. So to be clear.... You plan to exit Thailand and reenter Thailand visa exempt and then obtain a Non O visa and subsequent 12 month extension?
  6. Why was that required. When passports are renewed and transfer of information/stamps is done ...The very first notation in new passport is reference (pp#) of old pp
  7. To stay how long in Thailand? Edit: just noticed title "long term" Under 30 best option marriage..
  8. Getting off topic. I would suggest that vast majority of folk would require 65k + per month. Have read the many threads where guys almost boasting that they live off 30-40k . Great. Point is to use income method you don't need embassy income letter.
  9. That wouldn't work. The 65k + monthly transfer has to be shown to come from abroad. If not coded correctly in bank book or statements then credit advice would be required.
  10. Correct. Attached is a lazy 21 page thread re Danish embassy announcement in 2018. In any event if I was Danish I would NOT bother with the embassy letter and cost. Rather just have in place ,12 months of transfers and use income method without embassy letter.
  11. To each their own. I did it (change to income method) for couple of reasons. 1. Long term partner (not married) The transfers hit my bank #14 of every month and are transferred instantly into "wife" account. There is zero (basically) funds in my account. No need for probate , Will etc. 2. The opportunity cost. The 800k will earn approx 7-8% in my super fund.
  12. Very good option especially for the "online work" category Minimum age is 20 so available to folk not married and under 50 So great option. Ran into 26yr old UK guy who works completely online for UK employer. He obtained DTV eVisa in UK. Here is good link providing details. https://dtv42.com/
  13. If you renew early (me) you lose time. My pp is valid 10yr from date of issue. Not a big deal in my thinking. You might be surprised by how many threads we have where folk have simply left it late to renew pp. Particularly in relation to obtaining new extension Hopefully in future countries such as USA, UK, Canada etc can do the whole process via mail without need to include current pp in application Oz already not required to submit existing pp with application.
  14. Yes that's how it occured. Thai made a bet and those 3 embassies called the bluff. Thai authorities then modified that request but the gate was closed.
  15. Probably bit of both. Bit off topic but I'm currently switching from money in bank method to income method. Being Oz I need to show immigration 12 monthly transfers for next extension. I also need to run the "money in bank method" in tandem for the change over. Just pointing out that you can still do income method without letter. 65k/month is pretty modest amount to live off.
  16. Years back I had a Non O sticker in my pp and I provided that. Since those days and couple of new passports since, I photocopy the reference to the Visa in first page when they do "stamp transfer" Don't think it's that important. Most BBL guys just update in machine. Previously I used to obtain "bank letter" and at same time make small deposit. In more recent times I obtain the Bank Letter day or two prior to attending immigration. I then still on day of application make a 100b deposit. This shows activity in the account and also update. Don't worry the bank letter is different from bank book. I ask teller to please photocopy this last page. The reason I stopped doing the letter on the day of application is that the number of people has increased whereas the teller for deposit etc has zero que. I also obtain my 12 month bank statement day or two prior (200b).
  17. You can check out the announcements from various embassies that announced change in providing "income letter". It was triggered by Thai authorities requesting verification. The 3 countries mention in thread quickly stopped providing the letter. Eventually Thai backed down but too late. Here is snippet from UK embassy... "The British Embassy Bangkok is stopping the certification of income letters because it is unable to fulfil the Thai authorities’ requirements to verify the income of British Nationals" Another cut/paste re date of change..... "With effect from 1 January 2019, the British Embassy Bangkok will no longer provide British Nationals" with letters confirming their income.
  18. Not the point. Embassy cannot verify the income. And for that reason UK, USA, AU have not been providing letters for some time. Citizens of those countries can still use income method. Just requires monthly transfers of 65k + . Need to show 12 monthly transfers
  19. For folk without a Thai bank account best option is to obtain the Non O outside of Thailand. With a Non O in pp opening a bank account more straight forward.
  20. OP, here is thread where the OP has clearly outlined his account at Jomtien obtaining reentry permit on next day after application for extension.
  21. Don't follow. If the Canadian embassy ceases to provide the "income letter" (which seems the case) it's irrelevant what immigration does as there is no letter to consider
  22. Here is link to thread re DTL . It's concerning Bangkok however the requirements are pretty much same everywhere. I posted links to other threads.
  23. Just bumping your thread as no replies. Yes I found the link you posted, however Prachinburi not listed. I also found another link however again that office not listed. I notice you have dealt with that office back to 2016. Is it busy enough to warrant an appointment.
  24. That is correct. Sometimes esp at airports with only few days validity of reentry permit they may give you option of visa exempt stamp. So clearly you don't want another 12 months using agent. Think you are aware of your options
  25. Well if I'm following your posts correctly you have a permission of stay stamp . Prior to expiry you would exit Thailand without reentry permit. You can then reenter visa exempt with 60 day stamp. How long do you wish to stay in Thailand.
