Do not follow some of your posts. Why on earth would you need to go back to USA to transfer money. Internet banking and WISE (popular currency transfer) . Bit late but if you can afford to place 800k in bank you could have done it easily by yourself. Yes agent for bank account good idea. About 5.5k baht. BTW in another post you suggest that it's easy to open bank account. No You should have asked for advice earlier. How many days is remaining on you 90 day entry stamp

I never rely on approval email. The link in this thread gives 2 options when you sign in. "New application" and "check status" I just checked mine.....still pending and my due date is in couple of days. Been pending 7 working days already (CW) Im resigned to fact of having to go to CW doing in person report. Same thing happened last report. I'm losing faith in the damn thing. When online early days was very unreliable I used mail option..

This is where the correct terminology is important. OP refers to "retirement visa" Since he is obtaining a bank account first implies that he does not have a non O. So the agent doing the 3 steps I outlined earlier. Bank account, non O, and 12 month extension. Also that matches the price tag of 35k. Sounds like ThaiVisaCentre to me.

30 / 60 day extension
DrJack54 replied to Davef2912's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can obtain 30 extension to your visa exempt stamp. Has nothing to do with marriage. You can then obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife. The form you need is a TM7. It available download from internet. Google "TM7 Thailand " Each extension is 1900b . -
Here is one thread https://aseannow.com/topic/615374-riding-a-motorcycle-to-vientiane/ Vientiane requires an appointment. Often over week or more to find a open slot. Personally don't see big advantage re the bike thing. Friendship bridge to immigration is not long trip. An option would be to leave bike Thailand side of crossing

Single Entry Tourist Visa problem
DrJack54 replied to rockyysdt's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct. He is Oz . Good chance he is flying Jetstar and airline will almost certainly want to see onward flight. Options such as "rent a flight" discussed often. Some folk don't like that option -
You are not alone. It's an issue many face. I'm not sure how UK works but I've been in Thailand 10 years and progressively sold off assets. I have 4 rentals in Oz left and will sell them as tenants move out at various times. For example don't own a car in Oz. Regards bank accounts, super fund etc etc, I still maintain all of that. Transferring funds is easy. Just one person's opinion but I would go for it. By weather alone Thailand is great place for older bones. Frankly for me it's a no brainer. Especially as you have a Thai wife Regarding wife I like your thinking. Try and plan making it easy for her. I have a 10 year partner (not married) have already set her up with few condos and currently building VERY modest home up country. Live in Thailand after, all you can always visit Scotland when you want. Get rid of your assets there. Just one opinion.

Single Entry Tourist Visa problem
DrJack54 replied to rockyysdt's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, both options will work as suggested by others. The first booking you have will be sufficient for SETV application. Many would suggest just enter visa exempt and obtain 30 day extension. -
Yearly Non O extension
DrJack54 replied to Old Bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Indeed it can. The one thing ( not 100% on this)... I have vague feeling that the very first extension from the non O-A has to be based on retirement. Subsequent annual extensions can be based on retirement or marriage. Obviously many married guys changed to based on marriage when the insurance Bomb hit non O-A folk. Manny non married guys exited Thailand to kill off the non O-A and obtain a Non O (retirement) -
OP, it's not exactly clear what you had. In any event it's expired. Yes you can enter visa exempt and use an agent to obtain a non O retirement and 12 month extension. If you want to exit Thailand and reenter during that 12 months you require a reentry permit. You cannot obtain a ME Non O in Thailand. From the address you mentioned in Pattaya seems you are referring to Maneerat visa agent Soi 13/2 Highly recommend by many.

Yes and a pain in.... Kasikorn is partner bank for WISE thinking Bangkok Bank aso is. Have read posts similar to your experience. Wonder if someone has been able to set up something with WISE that avoids this. Guessing you selected reason as the last option "long term stay" I'm interested as planning on switching from money in bank method to income method and don't want the trouble you and some others have had
