Having been out of Thailand for 5+ months she should not have been questioned for 2 hours.
There is no stated limit on visa exempt via air however if used ongoing especially back to back with little time out of Thailand then you can be refused
Bit off topic but ....
When you plan a mini holiday it's hard to top Saigon..
Bus at airport to Bui Vien St is under 20baht.
Excellent entertainment options.
Return Bangkok to Saigon 5400b
For your next extension at CW you have two issues.
First up the financials are checked retrospectively and the bank book will show non compliance.
Also agent arranged extensions would rarely be obtained at CW.
My solution would be to continue with using agent OR exit Thailand just prior to expiry of current permission of stay without reentry permit and reenter visa exempt and obtain new non O using your own funds.
Granted messy however enables you to start over and ongoing extensions at CW.
Edit: when did the error occur with previous years financials.
Discussed in this thread

OP, you could consider an METV which would provide stress free stay up to 9 months and air travel to any nice break places such as Vietnam.
No concerns about visa exempt flights.
Ok understand now..
USA, UK, AU stoped providing "address affidavit"
Agent can obtain COR at eg Pattaya, however that doesn't help much.
You could check it out.
Can't see you obtaining COR at CW immigration
Personally I don't think the boarding pass would come into it.
I was thinking about my own travel habits when I return to Thailand from Oz.
I always fly to Saigon and spend week there and subsequently onto Bangkok.
I have ongoing extensions with reentry permit to Thailand however if I did not.....I would obtain an eVisa in Oz for Thailand and use it after my trip to Vietnam.
I was not referring to bankbook update.
I was referring to "bank letter".
Bank letter can be obtained prior to day of application. If that's not the case in Samui then fine.
Most folk apply one or two weeks prior to expiry of 30 day stamp.
The 30 day extension is added to expiry of your current stamp.
Be aware some strange offices eg Jomitien, sometimes send you away and tell you come back when closer to expiry.
Definitely.
I deal with CW and do it pretty much when window opens 45 days early.
As most are aware the 12 month extension is added to expiry of current permission of stay.
Zero gain by waiting till close to expiry.
Which immigration office will you use?
BTW you cannot apply for the non O retirement until you turn 50.
Here is a thread that explains process from visa exempt entry stamp to non O retirement
