  1. Amazing statement. Your plan of moving to visa exempt entries as a means to live in Thailand ongoing is misguided imo.
  2. 12+ Minor amount of money gained by maxing out validity of a pp. Think most pp are now valid for 10 years. Renew to obtain full 12 month extension.
  3. This thread has some reports and links. https://aseannow.com/topic/1316179-american-passport-renewal-process/
  4. OP, this is a good suggestion. If say 6 months is required then you could enter Thailand visa exempt and then obtain the non O at immigration followed by the 60 day extension. Assume you have a Thai bank account in your name only
  5. Yes he is correct. You can obtain a 12 month extension of permission of stay. If you are living ongoing in Thailand skip Savannakhet and do annual extensions of your permission of stay.
  6. You should not have been threatened with fine. Jomitien. No surprises there. Thread closed
  7. Yes they are. In any event seems that you have paid the fine. Next report consider mail option. Which immigration office do you deal with.
  8. Think it's best idea. Pick a time when you are pretty sure that you won't need to exit Thailand for travel.. Earlier post has thread that outlines process for pp renewal.
  9. Why so needing to squeeze as much as possible out of a pp. Guessing USA pp valid for 10 years. Obtain a new one well before expiry. Yes if not your next extension will have expiry date same as expiry of current pp. https://aseannow.com/topic/1316179-american-passport-renewal-process/
  10. It should be. You were hard done by it would seem. This link outlines the rules for TM47. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/90days-report/
  11. The thing is many offices want a TM47 receipt. Esp at eg CW where they have a doc check girl. In my example my last report was 10 months ago. I will show that receipt and my pp can show due to travel no reporting was due in last 10 months. Never continuously in country 90+ days
  12. Agree totally. I like bullet proof options if available. Especially if entering via air. Apart from onward ticket required by airline immigration would/could be an issue.
  13. Yep especially if it's fact that 400k for 2 months is required. Same requirement for 12 month extension. Buy a multi reentry permit and travel when it suits you. Also keep in mind that ME Non is valid for one year. You can get about 15+ months out of one but then another visit to Savannakhet. No thanks This thread discuss some aspects. https://aseannow.com/topic/1329397-non-imm-o-1-yr-me-visa-from-laos/
  14. They are good to go also you as hosts. The guests would only bother with TM30 if they needed dealing with immigration eg for extension. Visa exempt is currently 60 days
  15. It's referring to if you are arrested for something eg bar fight and subsequently seen to have not made a TM47 when required.
  16. You are referring to multi entry non O visa from Savannakhet. That visa is valid for 12 months and grants 90 day stamp every entry. That visa is not available at Thai immigration. However from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry you can obtain a single entry non O based on marriage and in last 30 days obtain the subsequent 12 month extension. You would also buy a reentry permit if you plan to exit Thailand and reenter. The main advantage in the past was 400k in bank seasoned for 2 months not required for the ME non O. Now (my understanding) is that's now required. Personally I would obtain non O in Thailand and subsequent extension. Then just yearly extensions ongoing.
  17. I did 10 extensions retirement at CW and only bankbook and photocopies required and some months zero activity. Last 2 extensions required 12 month bank statements. Years ago had transfer of stamps at CW. No problem and the form lists required docs. This year had another new pp transfer of stamps NEW added requirement was to provide bank book and photocopies of all pages since current extension date. Also updated bank book. TM47 receipt previously not required. Now is. I don't call that consistent
  18. Just a suggestion:... You could do a border bounce and reenter visa exempt. You mention that you have 400k in bank. You could obtain non O marriage and that 90 day stamp would provide the required time to season funds for subsequent 12 month extension. Purchase a multi reentry permit and do annual extensions ongoing. After extension granted you can use the funds. No need to maintain in bank. Attached thread outlines process. https://aseannow.com/topic/1315828-visa-exempt-to-90-day-non-o-spouse-visa-conversion-in-thailand/
  19. Be aware that appointments now required at both Savannakhet and Vientiane. The "new " funds in bank is true. Think the turn around time now 3 days Others will comment if that's not the case. @Tod Daniels can give definitive advice
