There are security firms to assist you when you take your pp to immigration for various reasons and to land office and for TDL .etc etc Along with some matters when dealing with banks... I'm sure police will give you time to provide passport if victim of crime on a one month stay on an island driving a car. Heaven forbid you are involved in a car accident requiring stay in hospital. Yes.....however. If the visa you are referring to is a non O retirement and you plan on obtaining a 12 month extension you would not have time to apply for extension. Immigration requires 15 days remaining. OP, do you actually have a visa or an extension with a reentry permit?

The point is regarding the 800k in Thai bank it is eventually required for the extension even if you obtain the non O outside of Thailand. Another good thing about applying in Thailand at immigration is that if there is a small thing that needs to be provided you can attend to it.
