I missed mention of expired pp. As mentioned ...the chap should exit Thailand asap , pay fine, and nick off. -
New passaport while in overstay

Absolutely not New pp will do nothing apart from extend his overstay an possibly move into ban. -
It's a good question. My comment was based on old posts from ubonjoe (absolutely #1 expert) The current extension would be honored upon death of Thai spouse. (Not the case for divorce) I'm not clear if someone could just change to extension based on retirement at time current expiry of permission of stay. Normally the wife would need to attend for that change. A simple option would be to exit Thailand and reenter visa exempt and do conversion to non O and obtain subsequent extension based on retirement. Obviously need planning for different financial requirements.

Proved nothing of the sort. Immigration officers are very aware that many tourists are not aware of this requirement and tend to let it side. Anyone should be aware of it on second flight. The OP mentioned flown to Thailand for 40 years Still seems ignorant. Enough. Very tired of you forum style.

Strange ....I picked it up on my first ever visit to Thailand when the io asked for it. It's also required at some other countries airports..

Hardly. No if you include opportunity cost. Marriage 400k for couple of months. For retirement with 800k being maintained for 5 months and with the 400k minimum for other months there is very real risk of accident. Thinking most maintain 800k all year round. Hardly same boat as marriage financial requirements. https://aseannow.com/topic/1311246-retirement-visa-versus-marriage-visa-which-is-best/

What do you mean by price. Assume that you plan to do this by yourself without agent. Financials for marriage are ridiculously easy compared to retirement. Paperwork for marriage requires more (much) than retirement. Also extensions marriage require home visit (most) and an under consideration period Up to You

Suggest io was asking for your boarding pass, which has always been asked for. It must be annoying when many travelers are unaware of need to provide it.

New passaport while in overstay
DrJack54 replied to Mika78's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Exit Thailand via air asap. Pay fine Cop overstay stamp and ban if one is issued. -
Which immigration office are you going to apply for extension. Some offices such as CW , CM etc are up to 45 days prior to expiry. (in your case 27 Jan) Some offices )most) up to 30 days prior. Not you will require 800k + baht in Thai bank account for 2+months BTW: you are not applying for retirement visa. You are obtaining a 12 month extension to your permission of stay.

Mesai border closed. Now what?

CM requires 21days remaining on stamp. Unfamiliar with agents that can obtain non retirement and subsequent extension in CM. Please report back your explain the future. Good luck -
Re-ENTRY permit at BKK Airport
DrJack54 replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Star. Not At airport it's 4000 and you park your bottom for 10 minutes. Immigration does it all for you. Pics included. So you took time to go to agent. Then what pp returned to you or needed return trip? -

That would be pretty much useless. The OP needs sensible post (he did not provide one. Thinking he meant this... " I entered Thailand visa exempt and obtained 30 day extension which expires Dec 4. I need to exit Thailand and return visa exempt inorder to obtain a Non O retirement at immigration. Subsequently a 12 month extension" Heaps of threads on this. The OP vague at best. -

Have Zero idea of what you are typing about. What visa did you enter Thailand on. Perhaps a ME Non O ? A single entry non O with 12 month extension. If the later why would you need to exit Thailand to obtain an extension -
OP, give a clear report and what you applied for and docs you provided. Otherwise pretty useless Ed visa?
