Well the last time I switched US passports I was asked for the old one at Thai immigration. The OP is living in Thailand on annual extensions from Non O. After he attends immigration for transfer of visa information and any relevant stamps ...eg a reentry permit then for future travel he does not need to travel with both passports.

Here is link to form some immigration offices use. CW being one example . Here is link. At bottom of form you will find list of docs to provide. There is no charge for transfer of visa info and any Stamps. Remember to update new pp # with your bank https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=995063&key=4ad28e64c063398b61d0a726240743c6 Here is very old thread specific to KK. One person mentioned service fee. https://aseannow.com/topic/1057309-new-passport/ Here is more recent thread. Not KK specific however mentions few recent changes such as no embassy letter etc https://aseannow.com/topic/1318879-new-passport-…having-information-transferred/

DrJack54 replied to singtho's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Hopefully someone who has used agent for DTV in Cambodia will post. Prior to Laos going to e-Visa I enquired about "complete package" to Savannakhet with agent. That was the whole 9 yards accom etc etc however approx 100k -

The Google search is positive. Where would you be applying for the DTV. Soft option category? -
Best visa option for 5 month stay
DrJack54 replied to persimmon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It's still job done. As yet no confirmation on change of visa exempt from 60 back to 30. Even if a night or two required in Laos surely that's not a deal breaker. Where would you be located in Thailand. A bounce to Cambodia with agent minivan run most likely same day bounce. Alternatively obtain a Non O retirement since you have the 800k in bank. Non O-A don't even think a out it. Yes a SETV would work.. Passport country? The Non O e-Visa is sweet in that it would be bullet proof. 90 stamp on arrival. No visit immigration for extension and the border bounce to complete the 5 month plan. -
Just to be clear.... The link to form I posted is for transfer of information from old pp to new pp. At bottom of the form there is a list of docs required. No on that list is photocopies of bank book pages back to last extension. This is a New requirement at CW. The io also made me go down to level 1 to update bank book. I did that by making a deposit. This is not to be confused with "bank letter". That letter provided by bank (100b) is required for annual extension. It was not required for the transfer of stamps.

I don't follow your thread. How many times previously has "...immigration officer comes knocking at the door.... " By way of example... My partner has few rentals. One eg is a farang teacher. He has various family members on holiday stay with him. Same tenant recently had his gf staying there. She needed a TM30 regarding immigration so my partner did one. In the other example of friends visiting him as tourists and had no need to attend immigration to obtain example an extension, my partner (the owner) did nothing. If you are so concerned then do a TM30 for the tenants guest.

CW uses a form to fill in for transfer. Bottom of form lists required docs. Of course bank book photocopies was not on the list. When I protested (calmly) to senior io rear of L34 she sent me gonna to lower level to do update. My bankbook was not sufficient. For anyone interested in form some offices use for transfer. Small Piece of duct tape. Stick and forget.

Sorta guessed as much. In any event...the OP has been given simple instructions to proceed Namely go to immigration office when suits to do visa info and stamp transfer. Just general information for any Oz folk wishing to renew pp while in Thailand the online/mail process works a treat. You don't even send your current pp with application. 20 day turn around for me in 2024.
