Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You cannot obtain a covid extension. Would assume with your question that you will not be in position to meet the financial requirements for extension retirement. Think your only option would be to use agent for your extension. You have a non O so extension won't be too expensive. -
Working past 65 / retirement age in Australia
DrJack54 replied to Kenny202's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
Not in my book. The OP stated that ..... "..unbeknownst to the husband gambled their life and home away". Indicates Alzheimer's disease or just plain foolish. -
The OP stated this...... "We keep much above the 400K so that is not a problem". My point re this thread is that if using money in bank option, the OP hardly needs a thread regarding advice about where to live based on immigration office. So many threads regarding difficult immigration offices. Often ends up being issue with the applicant. Pretty lame reason to choose where to live, which is what the OP asked.

Return flight or one way is ok?
DrJack54 replied to HKexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
A throw away ticket currently is approx 1600 baht. Did one last week for someone. Bkk-KL. Rent a ticket is an option however it's not a "confirmed" flight meaning payment in full not received. -

Why?... At 70 you would work due to lack of money or boredom. Sad reasons on both fronts -
Why do you need to have a TM30. Did you change your address? Have you previously been doing 90 day reports? OP, you just posted a reply and I see that you have changed address. I would just use previous address for extension and do the TM30 later when it can be sorted out.

Yes I mentioned rent a ticket option earlier. The OP seems more comfortable with the throw away ticket option. -

Nothing to do with Thai pass. Don't bother with uploading onward flight. Your plan of buying throw away is peace of mind. Checked earlier today BKK to KL.......1560 baht. -
OP, stated don't shoot the messenger. Give me the gun, I'll have a crack. May as well throw in rumor re compulsory insurance for all extensions. This thread belongs in the pub forum at best.

Retirement/extension to stay visa.
DrJack54 replied to rocky123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, just had second read of your post and notice return could be as late as Sept. Not silly to just have it expire and return visa exempt and obtain new non O followed by extension. Obviously would need to plan to meet the financial requirements. -

Amount = Principal x [(1.20) to the power of n] n being number of years. ~ 5 million. -

Retirement Visa Thailand ?

It's strange on AseanNow that we are not reading/seeing many reports regarding covid extensions. Certainly worth a try. You can apply for your covid extension now. -
Retirement/extension to stay visa.
DrJack54 replied to rocky123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, I assume your finances are in place. Money in bank method? What date in April does it expire. You can approach immigration with evidence of departure and ask if it can be done earlier. Which immigration office. If not you will need to start over. Easiest path being return visa exempt and obtain non O and extension. -
Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You would need to deal with agent asap to obtain the non O. Just a suggestion....in your situation I would go to immigration and outline your plan to obtain non O retirement. No need to mention agent. Explain that you require bit more time to obtain the 800k and could they provide one more covid extension. Which office do you deal with. -

DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You would be obtaining a non O based on retirement and a 12 month extension. The OA you mention just ignore that part of your question. I posted a thread above that discusses agents in Pattaya. Click on that link and you will have an idea. Where are you living. -
Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I couldn't do it. Too stressful. I can't see why you would not be able to obtain another covid extension. Running against that is io may cite that you have obtained many. The use of agent to assist with obtaining covid extension might be an option. Having said that you are wanting to stay for another year. If your over 50 I would use agent to obtain non O and 12 month extension. -
Retirement Visa Thailand ?

IMO the io was out of line. In that situation I would ask to speak with someone higher up the food chain. Failing that I would obtain the non O at another immigration office. Which immigration office did you deal with. -
Retirement Visa Thailand ?
DrJack54 replied to ThaiNoobie101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Here is recent thread re agents in Pattaya. The posts mentioned various agents and costs. Just to clarify. The "retirement visa" is actually a non O based on retirement. It grants 90 stay. In last 30 days you obtain 12 month extension. It's a 2 step process and costs approx 25-30k. Some folk have a non O already and only require the extension each year. The extension alone is approx 15k. So for someone that entered on tourist visa or visa exempt, it would be ~ 25k for first expense to cover non O and also extension. Ongoing is ~ 15k per year for extension.
