Retirement visa/extension, the small print
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Agent is always an option. No reason to doubt your account so accept that. Haven't read any similar accounts regarding Phuket. Some imm offices dont accept combination method and some even give those using income method a hard time. The charging for transfer of information and stamps to new passport is a scam and unfortunate. Fortunately at most immigration offices this is not the norm. I have zero issues at CW using money in bank method. Edi: out of interest check back some threads re extensions retirement Phuket money in bank method. Most reports read like this thread. Seems you had lot of bad luck. -
Retirement visa/extension, the small print
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Out of interest which immigration office. Extensions using money in the bank has minimal paperwork. "Immigration Nazis"? What was required that is difficult. -
I was replying to OP which is specifically about Bangkok. Bangkok immigration CW requires you to be doing 90 day reports in order to apply for residence certificate. Most (if not all) other offices do not have that requirement.

Keep in mind the answers are just people's opinions as there is no stated limit to visa exempt entries via air. IMO with your history and very little time spent out of Thailand I would suggest flying out and back in visa exempt would be crazy. That's my advice for Q1 and that means Q2 is a no brainer. If you had to fly then trip to nearby city eg Saigon where you could apply for tourist visa MIGHT be possible. My advice would be to stick to land border entries (border bounce) You can do 2 per calendar year with extension to each.

End visa : + 1 day ?

Yes -
Useful information in this thread albeit 2021

Applies to all. Also a bit of a catch-22 for the need to have a residence certificate to open bank account. Those living in Bangkok and not making 90 day reports at CW cannot obtain a residence certificate. Added footnote: sounds simple problem but it's not. Due to travel out/in Thailand for many years could not obtain a TDL due to this. Approach DL agents such as Fatboy's... There was no way around it. BTW Oz embassy does not provide the embassy letter alternative to residence certificate.

Given the difficulties with appointments some folk use an agent to assist with the que process. I personally used BSR Bikes to assist with que during covid when the number of "spots" per day was limited. Still had to meet her at 7.30am where there is under cover seating area. Cost 1800baht. I believe @ThailandRyan recently obtained his 5 year license and posted a report for Chatuchak

Stop. I am well aware of TDL requirements in Bangkok. I answered couple of points re medical certificate and residence certificate. Also pointed out that this is extensively covered in the "motor forum". Do some research. I also answered this.. "What is the cost and process for A letter of residence or address certified by the Immigration Bureau"... Residence certificate from CW is 200baht. The OR you ask about is not clear. I assume you mean letter from embassy.

You expect correctly. Forget any consideration of de facto relationship or civil relationship. Irrelevant in Thailand. Enter visa exempt and obtain non O retirement and subsequent annual extensions. Regarding exit Thailand on quick notice ..zero problem. You can apply for reentry permit upon departure at international airports. One thing you should consider is process of opening bank account. Best to use agent if entering visa exempt

Just one example of thread..

Retirement visa/extension, the small print
DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Boring opportunity cost analysis. Done often to demonstrate what? Folk using money in bank method leaving 800k at minimal % rate are well aware of what that can earn in super account or other investment.. BTW very simplistic analysis. Choose to use an agent or meet the financial requirements... Up to you. Advice not required. -
Your first step will be to apply for residence certificate. Cost is 200baht. Takes up to 2 weeks to be posted out. In order to obtain a residence certificate in Bangkok you will need to have done 90 day reports. There are other requirements such as a medical certificate that is a formality at any clinic aware of requirements. Of course your divers license from home country is not retained. This topic cover in MANY threads in "motor forum"

I hope folk on extensions based on marriage take notice of your post. Bottom line is have the 400k for 2 months prior and maintain during under consideration period. Approx 3 months all up. Very sweet deal. Not difficult.
-
For starters the OP was asked at CW. Also many reports of being asked to show bank book at various immigration offices.
-
You mean final stamp after under consideration period? Current thread that touches on that. Best to maintain funds during under consideration period. Having said that have only read of being warned if the funds have not been maintained.

Thai eVisa website for OA visa, or other options
DrJack54 replied to ibjoe's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are 50+ years of age hence you can obtain a non O based on retirement. You can obtain the non O retirement in USA or in Thailand from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry. Easy process. Non O marriage has benefit of much easier financials. However at this point you are not married. -
What are the chances of getting another stamp
DrJack54 replied to d15pl4y's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No it's not true. Visa exempt entries via air are unlimited however you have spent lot of time in Thailand and some would suggest next entry via air would be best with obtaining tourist visa. There is no 6 month rule. You are allowed 2 land border visa exempt entries per calendar year. -

DrJack54 replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Read ubonjoe post above. You did not receive "visa on arrival" You entered visa exempt and given 30 day stamp. You can apply at immigration office for 30 day extension. Cost 1900baht. No problem. -
Procedure for Obtaining Visa Exempt
DrJack54 replied to Pompey Lad 1938's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He does nothing special on arrival. Just que as normal. The io will notice UK passport and absence of visa or reentry permit and then stamp him in for 45 days (as from Oct 1) He will not require the items you mention to show to the io. At departure the airline may wish to see his onward (return) flight. Since he has this then zero issues.
