How strict is immigration currently?
DrJack54 replied to buknecerze's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Don't get me wrong. Didn't doubt your account one bit. All I could come up with was something such as a more experienced io giving some advice/tips to less experienced guy. Pre covid I was flying constantly to Vietnam and back. Have dealt with couple of green horns. Have had to show one or two where my reentry permit was. The heads up should be the TM6. Good they let you in to the promised land. -

DrJack54 replied to buknecerze's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Disregard your experience. The io had no reason to take time with your passport, especially given that you had a visa along with your history. -
Thanks for your previous advice. I was very dubious that the Mor Prom app would work smoothly. I just recently had the second jab (tues) and they told me at Bang Sue to wait ~ 24 hours and my vax history would appear on the app. Sure enough all the information of the vaccination dates, type, batch #, location of vaccinations etc all recorded when I looked on the app just now. Also a plug for the wonderful staff at Bang Sue.

Hats off to Vietnam. Figures have been consistently low for several days now. Today under 900 cases and 28 deaths. @anchadian table above. -

I disagree. However by all means post contact details of agent. -

An agent cannot assist this guy. He needs to book a flight and make sure he has 20k to pay overstay fine at airport and exit Thailand. Needless to say, keep head down and exit asap. -
Renewal Date Of Non-O Visa
DrJack54 replied to shortstop2's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He wants to visit and stay 3 months every year. Don't think many folk would go the non O (retirement) followed by obtaining annual extensions every year. That ties up funds in a Thai bank for 12 months of the year. -
Renewal Date Of Non-O Visa
DrJack54 replied to shortstop2's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Tourist visa followed by 30 day extension. 60+30= 90days. In the future when land borders open can do border bounce and enter visa exempt for additional days. -

Thailand reports 9,122 new COVID-19 cases, 71 deaths, 10,731 recoveries
DrJack54 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So Monday 900k+. I went to Bang Sue today for second shot. Straight to lady for AZ jab. Very few people there. Zero que time. Must be lot of vaccinations being given elsewhere. -
Thanks. So went to Bang Sue. Was a pleasant surprise. The staff same as the first time were fantastic and helpful. The huge difference was ZERO que. Very few people there. I basically went straight to lady to receive the jab. Along with yellow "receipt" of jabs/type/dates. Then told that I can have info onto app (will do that later).

Retirement Extension Cancelled- What options
DrJack54 replied to fangless's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Im sure there have been examples where somebody using money in bank for retirement extension and has plans of only staying one year or less and has withdrawn the 800k. I have not read one report of anyone where not maintaining the financial requirements has led to being on overstay. -
Re-entry question
DrJack54 replied to HashBrownHarry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, correct answer above. Just to understand....all a reentry permit does is allow you to enter Thailand up till expiry of current extension. Hence the expiry date on your reentry permit always matches expiry of your permission of stay stamp. In your case Dec 19. -
Retirement Extension Cancelled- What options
DrJack54 replied to fangless's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted many times. 800k two months PRIOR to day of application. Then 800k maintained 3 months POST application. Then not less than 400k and back up to 800k two months prior to following application. Was changed from only 800k for 3 months prior some time ago. -

The 60 day covid extension cannot 'fix' the issue with financial requirements for previous 12 months if they were not met. The covid extension would buy time in hope that borders open and a border bounce possible. Reenter visa exempt and obtain new non O at immigration. Entry to Thailand for fully vaccinated folk becoming less difficult. -
Opening a bank account has changed a LOT over recent years. Not straight forward with a tourist visa or visa exempt. @PadPrikKhing given the time factor I suggest that you use agent for opening Bank account. Siam Legal would be good starting point, some positive reports from posters. They use Bangkok Bank. Quick process. Personally I have Extension from a non O and even so had trouble opening Bank account a year ago. Bangkok Bank wanted something from my Oz embassy along with something from my bank in Oz. All that and I had a long term rental contract and 12 month extension etc. Yes Kasikorn were far more helpful however think not automatic from visa exempt entry.
