  1. Try asking @charliebadenhop he spent a few months somewhere for his cancer surgery too. He might be able to help.
  2. 35/16 Chiang Mai Outer Ring Rd, San Klang, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai 50130, San Kamphaeng 50130 Facebook 062 290 5333
  3. The lowest setting on the Seal ABB charger is 6amps which is about 1.4Kw, but it's dumb when it comes to knowing about solar. However, it is an intelligent charger with all the interfaces available to enable it to have the add-on to hook up with some solar systems. I found one of the add-on boards whilst searching the internet one day but I couldn't find a price for it. I think you could knock something up with a Raspberry Pi if you were so inclined and could work out how to monitor your solar. Probably the most economical solar installation would be a Grid-Tied 6Kw system (export or no-export) and set your ABB charger to 24 amps and just charge when the sun is out, this is what I do, though my solar installation is a lot bigger.
  4. Finland Deer, a little out of town near San Kamphaeng but probably the best (and most expensive) for Beef steak.
  5. I checked at 6am, I’m in a better position now than I thought, I’m only 25 units behind, and it looks like sun today, I might be back to normal tomorrow morning.
  6. A year before I was 66 I started communicating with them about buying missing years as I retired in my 40’s. It took the 6 months to reply and say I could and another 6 months to confirm I could buy the 9 years I needed. They told me to apply for a payment code, it was now 2 months before my 66th Birthday. I had zero confidence they would respond in time. I tried to telephone more than a dozen times and on every occasion it was engaged. I tried to send the money to the correct HMRC account and it was impossible without a payment code. I pulled up a list of HMRC bank accounts in my banking app, there were dozens and so I sent the payment to HMRC NIC DEF’CY A/C and set a letter recorded delivery letter telling them where to find my payment. Two months later I got my full updated pension. To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
  7. SOMM Wine & Dine, great steaks, beef cheeks and an exceptional wine cellar.
  8. I normally have a surplus from my solar power, my daughters came home and charged up and we've had such bad weather that put me about 100 units behind. I think I've clawed back about half of that but I could do with either another charge or a few sunny days. I'm driving to Chiang Mai next week and will probably have to charge at my daughters house which has no solar power. I can't see it being worth even trying to drive to a red pin charger there.
  9. I waited almost an hour to get my free charge today and at the end of the charging process the only payment offered was my debit card, despite me having 3 free options in my wallet. I wrote to the support email as asked, I will be very surprised if they bother to respond.
  10. I can see lots of aftermarket trims will appear on aliexpress, eg a gloss walnut dash trim. I miss the highly polished wooden dash's of the Jaguars of yesteryear.
  11. You can give me a pedicure while I wait.
  12. My local BYD City branch, now have a queuing system for charging, receptionist writes down your details and gives you a numbered card.
  13. You have 13.4% EV sales for June and July, I think it was Pib’s figures show an increase. Which is right?
  14. I'm glad to hear you're out and about and that suppository tube of anti-gloating cream didn't keep you off your feet too long.
  15. My ABB Wallbox is 3 phase 22kw. I only have a single phase connection so my maximum charge rate is 7kw on 220v. The box has the other 2 connections needed for 3 phase but I didn't put any cables in them. I think all the ABB walboxes are 3 phase 22Kw units.
  16. I think the Seal will only charge at 3.6Kw max on an 11Kw wallbox. It appears to me the pins for 3 phase are missing on the car. If you have an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) or Solar, you can boost your charging speed by turning up the voltage to 240v. The charging circuits on most cars are current controlled. So typically 32 amps at anything between 190v and 240v.
  17. It's worth noting that a Hybrid car is only more economical around town in start/stop driving. On the highway at a constant speed, it will be fractionally worse and it's an overly complicated beast. A "Self Charging Hybrid" is Toyota spin marketing for Hybrid and then only on petrol (or diesel from some brands). My personal opinion is that we have gone past the Hybrid stage, there is now very little an EV can't do. Mercedes & BMW initially offered Hybrids, they now only offer Plug-In Hybrids (PHEV) with typically 50 miles battery range or full EV's. They read the market correctly, the Japanese haven't and have been caught sleeping with their pants down at the risk of mixing my metaphors. It's also worth bearing in mind that a Hybrid is about 130 times more likely to catch fire than an EV, IMHO it offers the word of both worlds with little or no battery-only drive capability.
  18. Single phase Wallboxes can charge between 6 amps and 32 amps. Sometimes they are fixed on their output, typically 32 amps which at 220v is about 7 Kw. Three phase wallboxes have a top limit of 11 Kw (16 amps per phase) or 22Kw (32 amps per phase), again some are adjustable. 22 Kw capability is useful outside your home, particularly at places like shopping malls and restaurants because you can often fill your car to the top whilst you're parked for a couple of hours. The charger itself is actually in your car, the wallbox is just a control and safety unit that negotiates the charging speed and safety with your car. The fast DC chargers you see at service stations have all the electronics inside and cost around a million baht each for a high capacity one.
  19. I asked my BYD salesman about this last Friday. He doesn't know yet, but he did say he had looked into the T's & C's a with MG. He said you have to do all your servicing with them and even replacement wiper blades have to be from the MG Dealer.
  20. I have used Roojai for years. I have never seen them give me a no claims discount. I have never had a claim on any of my multiple vehicles for many years. The named driver discount risks them immediately saying they don't want to cover a car. We had to go elsewhere for my daughter. I would like to see some kind of loyalty back from Roojai. I have a new BYD Seal Performance, Roojai won't cover it despite the fact I've had zero claims with them for many years and on all my new cars with a free first year insurance. I think they also stop covering for 70+ year olds. Please. let's have some loyalty back to your loyal customers.
  21. I think we will see more cars with 22Kw charging, but it adds quite a bit to the price when it's an option. More than 100,000 baht to upgrade some German cars from 11Kw to 22Kw capability.
  22. I wonder how much you spent servicing your Vigo in those 8 years, BYD owners get it for free.
  23. After it's repaired free under the 8 year warranty. Same with your Vigo?
  24. There's almost always another car charging at Rever, I noticed when charging mine that the time to complete doubled once the other car (an Atto) started charging.
  25. I charged for free on Friday. In Chiang Rai we have 2 chargers both with 2 ports at the 2 dealer locations. Only the town center dealership is available during peak hours. I check the app regularly, and drive past if I'm out & about (O&A as some would say 😉 I drove past yesterday after lunch with my friends, 2 charging and 2 queued. About a third of the time I check, there is one port free. As I said to my sales person, Rever continue to disappoint me, every interaction I have had with them has been a disaster. I now have 30,000 baht free charging credit for the next 30 months with very little opportunity to find an available charger.
