  1. That swerved my question but at least we know which particular recidivist you get your ideas from.
  2. Which British Hindus and Sikhs are you speaking on behalf of?
  3. Partition happened before the British left. The British left after ceding independence to Pakistan on August 14 1947 and India on August 15 1947 on which day the British Military in India retired to barracks awaiting embarkation. The last British military unit to leave India was the 1st Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert’s), which embarked at Bombay on 28 February 1948. Now unless you’ve got some kind of a time warp going on, Pakistan was already a sovereign state before the British handed India its independence. I’m not at all sure what your reference to the Irish is.
  4. Desperate stuff Nick. Back to what you said. “Partition happened after Indian Independence from Scotland and England ” Just admit you were wrong, it won’t hurt.
  5. The history of the rise and fall of the British empire in India is fascinating, I recommend you look into it, you’ve obviously got some gaps in your knowledge to fill.
  6. No it did not. The Radcliffe Line was established in June 1947, Pakistani was established as an independent nation on August 14 1947 and India attained independence from Britain on August 15 1947.
  7. Who could forget the UK/Australia deal, it was much in Australia’s favor that Australian news readers where laughing as they described it to their audiences. Johnson’s eagerness to announce the deal before it was agreed left him at Australia’s mercy. He either signed or admitted his lies. Given the choice between doing what’s right for Johnson by admitting his error, or signing a deal that was not in the UK’s best interests, his ego got the better of him.
  8. Here’s a thing. Only a couple of weeks back Trump announced he had downgraded the U.K. to ‘Second-Order Priority’ for a trade deal with his focus on a deal with S. Korea. So what happened to the S. Korea deal? It seems to have been another of Trump’s mirages. What we are left with is yet more evidence of the desperation of Trump to get any kind of a deal to put before his supporters, both foreign and domestic. Well done PM Starmer for playing Trump’s desperation to the benefit of the UK. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/apr/29/trump-makes-trade-deal-with-uk-second-order-priority-in-blow-to-ministers
  9. Right now you could say much the same thing about the United States. Maybe there’s some synergy going on behind the scenes.
  10. There’s plenty of work in this thread for therapists.
  11. It’s clear Trump got the message even if he didn’t like hearing it. Canada is not for sale.
  12. Because of course what actually matters in a discussion between national leaders is who made the most noise for the longest period. As if its ’possession’ in a game of football.
  13. You might have a point, its probably not a good idea for a Pope to remind the rightwing christofascists that have control of the GOP of what it is Jesus actually said.
  14. Or send ICE to pick him up and deport him on the basis of his dual citizenship.
  15. That’s the life of the very junior partner in what is clearly turned into an abusive relationship.
  16. I have no idea. I’ll check when a U.S. / EU trade deal is the topic of discussion.
  17. Likewise we’ll never hear anything negative from Trump’s supporters, both foreign and domestic, no matter what he does.
  18. During Britain’s membership of the EU the U.S. tariff on U.K. manufactured cars was 2.5%. Under this limited Trade Deal, that tariff is now 10%. I guess you take what you can get, or at least the crumbs you are offered.
  19. Because it is a salient fact that this isn’t an FTA. An FTA with the U.S. was a cornerstone of the Brexit promises.
  20. No I have not. I’ve not been to the moon either but I know it’s not a place to go sunbathing. https://www.politico.eu/article/what-is-and-isnt-included-in-the-uk-us-trade-deal/
  21. I suggest we don’t get into personal comparisons. We disagree on matters but I don’t want to humiliate you.
