Admitted the Moon landings were fake !
Lacessit replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
History is full of examples of people saying things outside their field of competence. IIRC, Bill Gates stated 64K of memory would be all any computer user would need. -
I've been occasionally told I look like a policeman, based on my facial impassivity. Men don't strike up a conversation with me, so I can discount this scam. OTOH, I am a sitting duck for women I find attractive.

How True is "the smiles are fake"?
Lacessit replied to Brian Nose's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That is a real smile, from the angle of his eyes one can see he is thinking here comes another sucker. -
How True is "the smiles are fake"?
Lacessit replied to Brian Nose's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I operate on the premise any smile, real or fake, is preferable to an angry countenance. IME, the real smiles involve a crinkling around the eyes as well. -
Border hop agencies
Lacessit replied to JoseThailand's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I am assuming a re-entry permit would be necessary beforehand. -
Universities with a science department should have the laboratory facilities to undertake water analysis. When the OP says he wants the water thoroughly tested, what parameters does he want, and what specifically concerns him? E.g. Total Dissolved Solids, SS, BOD, COD, metals, pesticides, herbicides, phenols, anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, TKN, nitrates, ammonia, calcium hardness.

I doubt 800 baht/day will be enough, because while it is "only" 5 hours, it is split into an early morning and evening segments. There is the other consideration of how strong the helper needs to be to shift 160 kg around, if needed. I am wondering if the OP can help himself by losing weight. While he may not be able to exercise, eating the right foods to reduce his body mass may improve his mobility.

I rest my case.

These are the three types of ad hominem argument. I assume you are referring to the second example. In my previous post, I was referring to the first. Abusive - This is where the person is directly attacked. ... Circumstantial - Personal circumstances motivate a person's argument, so it must be false. ... Guilt by Association - Due to an association to something negative, an argument is discredited. My argument is not based on personal circumstances alone, I rely on statistics, such as the fact unvaccinated people have a much higher probability of occupying an ICU, or dying from COVID. Doesn't matter where one looks in the world, the facts don't change. About three weeks after my first COVID vaccination, I got myself tested for antibodies. They were present. Zero antibodies means an unvaccinated person is relying solely on their immune system to protect them. Being in the most vulnerable age group, I didn't feel like I should be taking on that gamble. When I caught COVID after my second vaccination, I had a sore throat and runny nose for three days, end of story.. MY GF, 23 years younger than me, unvaccinated, was sick for 10-12 days, with the full array of symptoms. That's how I know COVID vaccine protected me.

My GF believes implicitly in ghosts. She will not go out in the dark alone, or with another Thai. However, she is quite happy to go out in the dark with me. The ghosts stay away because I don't believe in them. No kidding, that is what she has told me.

IMO the health authorities did the best they could, the worst mistake was probably the mixed message about prevention of infection vs. prevention of serious consequences after vaccination. That, and the deaths occurring after vaccination, was seized on by anti-vaxxers. Post hoc ergo propter hoc remains their credo. We will always have people who are against something or other out of belief. Facts, data and statistics are either completely ignored, or cherry-picked for what they think is logical argument. Social media is full of faux gurus who pander to them to make money. Said gurus tell such people what they want to hear. I've been attacked a few times on ASEAN due to my pro-vax comments. All I can say is COVID vaccination protected me. As other jabs for polio, tetanus, Hep A etc. have done over the years. I also regard such attacks as a badge of honor, because ad hominem comments are an indication of a debater who has run out of rational argument, so they go to the last resort. A dishonest one. I've had enough, let Darwin sort them out.

AFAIK the plan is to train the Ukrainians in hi-tech Western weapons. The Ukrainians claim they can mobilize a one million strong army. Unless Russia can interdict the flow of armaments from the West, the Ukrainians will get stronger every month. Putin has just ordered the mobilization of 137,000 troops, presumably to bolster an army which has lost about 70,000 to 80,000 men in battle, including an extraordinary number of flag officers. Russia is not advancing. It is stalled, and the Ukrainians are counter-attacking at Kherson and in the Crimea. Russian holiday-makers there are getting a dose of reality. The other side of the coin is the sanctions. Russia is facing economic ruin. Their domestic aircraft fleet is more than three-quarters Boeing and Airbus. Already there are reports from within Russia aircraft are being cannibalized to keep some of the planes in the air, because Boeing and Airbus have shut down the normal flow of spare parts, software etc. every airline in the world needs to continue flying safely. It's a battle of wills that will only end when the Russian people stop swallowing Putin's BS.

My Thai GF tells me when she is sad, happy etc. Her focus is the family, including me. IMO giving her support and consideration is all I need to do. On the rare occasions when I have to put my foot down, I think she accepts I know more than her. A sulk for her lasts one hour maximum. I had a wife in Australia that could keep one going for a month. I don't think most Thais dwell on the past, IME they live in the present.

You are probably right. However, if Putin were to order an attack on any country in the NATO alliance, that would change everything. Another miscalculation by Putin and his military. They presumably thought they would have air supremacy. They don't, so interdicting the flow of armaments from Western countries into Ukraine is that much more difficult. It seems the Russians learned nothing from the Berlin Airlift. There, the American proficiency with logistics came as a stunning shock, and ended up breaking the blockade imposed by the Soviets. Today, the ineptness of Russian logistics, compounded by Ukrainian attacks on supply chains, is one of the big factors in the failures they are experiencing.

AFAIK there is no education in financial literacy in Thailand, or if there is it's probably at the tertiary level. When I see Thais riding scooters without a helmet, but dutifully wearing masks, it's pretty obvious relative risk is not taught at any level either. 15% a month? I would not be interested if it was 15% a year.

Alas, gold and amalgam have been replaced by UV-cured polymers, and I don't have a silver tongue either. You take care too.

Then we are both happy, goodbye troll.

You are giving me too much credit, I am quite short-tempered with some posters.

If you can explain how the photo I posted identifies the person who made that product, go ahead. I'll decide if it's time to put you on ignore as a nuisance poster based on your response.

I don't have one. I try to confine my opinions to topics that are of relevance to me.

Being cautious, I divide the cookies I buy into quarters. I don't get any euphoria on 25 mg, just 5-6 hours of sedation. If I wanted euphoria, oral demerol sends me higher than a kite. I am not tempted to try for a higher dose, I am getting the effect I want.

I am of the generation that did not have fluoride in their diet, either added to drinking water or their food. Hence my mouth has financed the luxury vehicles of a succession of dentists. Melbourne water supply is among the purest in the world. In my day, it was so pure it could be used to top up batteries, or in analytical chemistry test methods requiring distilled water. Too pure, actually. My son was given fluoride in his diet as an infant. He has had two minor dental cavities in his entire life, with a terrible genetic inheritance w.r.to teeth on both sides. Anti-fluoride campaigners, don't let the door hit you in the a##e on the way out of this post. As for the 5-iron on the back 9, I have not met anyone on a golf course that disliked me that badly, although AFAIK I have not played with any ASEAN posters yet.

Please elaborate, I fail to see the connection. Unless you are saying the food you cook for yourself is turned to mush. In answer to your OP, yes I do. The attached denture was made for me at RAM Hospital in Chiang Mai about 9 years ago. An Australian dentist said it was very well made. The small denture in the middle was the result of losing a tooth about 3 weeks ago. My financial choice was between getting the added denture for 800 baht, or shelling out 17,000 baht for root canal therapy and a crown.
