  1. Pension overseas is $2303 per month. 50,000 baht/month, easy enough for a single person to live in Thailand on that.
  2. It was a joke, Joyce. The fishing is good on some threads.
  3. As soon as one gets outside a capital city, the number of doctors bulk billing falls off a cliff. Just wondering how you can afford to live in inner Sydney on $5 an hour. The median rent for a unit is $648/week. Average rental in my Chiang Rai condo ( swimming pool, shop and restaurant ) is $340/MONTH. I don't know why you are bitching about Thailand being too expensive, it's absurd.
  4. The national minimum wage in Australia is $24.10 per hour, with no tax payable on income less than $18,200 per year. Any person who considers they are underpaid can make a complaint to the Fair Work Commission. Wage theft has heavy penalties. Have you put in your complaint yet?
  5. After Trump cuts Social Security, you are going to need more containers.
  6. In my son's district near Melbourne, there are 5 medical clinics. Four no longer bulk bill. The one that does, no longer accepts new patients. You are posting bullsh!t, the majority of doctors are not free.
  7. I am not married. My GF has a house. I have a pink ID card, and a Yellow Book.
  8. What I don't understand is minorities voting for Trump, it's like turkeys voting for Christmas.
  9. And you can lie forever. You cannot produce one shred of evidence, because it does not exist.
  10. Aviation accounts for only 2.5% of global CO2 emissions. Electricity is 40%, land transport 25%. I doubt John Kerry's proposition would stand the pub test. Relax.
  11. I guess events like Helene and Milton are all part of the scam.
  12. Out-of-date pie chart, the current CO2 concentration is 0.044%. Another poster who does not understand thermodynamics, I won't bother arguing with you. Perhaps you prefer this explanation:
  13. You are posting a blatant lie, it's what YOUR type does best. Either put up, or shut up.
  14. 35% of my assets are in Thailand, under my control. 65% are in Australia. The 35% will go to my Thai GF when I cark it. It's in her interest I stay alive as long as possible. It's also in her interest we stay together. I would take some kind of financial hit if I was refused an extension on my visa. Otherwise no.
  15. Perhaps you can point me to a post where I said I was an award winning journalist. Is senility setting in?
  16. One post says you are old, and triggered by climate change. Sorry, thermodynamics does not care about your opinions. The next says you are bedding 3-5 women a week. Being old and bedding 3-5 women a week does not compute. Does the term bullsh!t artist offend you?
  17. Why do MAGA posters strain at a gnat, while swallowing a camel?
  18. Please don't go, your village will miss you.
  19. I never complain about bad food in a Thai restaurant. I leave it, pay, walk out and never go back. OTOH, I have a memory bank for restaurants who do the right thing. Below is chicken in black pepper sauce at Timothy's, a Thai restaurant that does Western dishes. Salad and chips. IIRC 179 baht.
  20. Thailand is my aged care plan. My Thai family will take care of me when I can no longer do so. In Australia, aged care consists of being shoveled into a nursing home to rot, with food a dog would turn its nose up at, attended by overworked and underpaid carers. I know a guy in Chiang Mai who is 93 yo. He is going blind. His Thai GF ( 60-odd ) helps him with everything, and will be well provided for when he dies. I don't understand expats here who refuse to learn any Thai. Life is so much easier, even with a basic vocabulary.
  21. Funny you should say that - Harris seems to be living rent-free in the heads of quite a few posters here. It's like they have to invent baggage to make up for the stuff Trump already has. News flash - Harris has published her medical records, and has challenged Trump to release his.
  22. You are correct in saying the number of expat pensioners is insignificant. However, IMO the bulk of pensioners would certainly disagree with that restriction on their liberty IF they were made aware of the issue, given no other Western nations would do so. Social media such as Facebook, Twitter etc. is something politicians of every stripe are increasingly wary of.
  23. Not quite - the ballot box is a deterrent, and people of pension age are a reasonably large voting bloc. IMO the measure you put forward hypothetically would result in considerable backlash.
  24. If there has been no activity in the account, IME the passbook machines won't print a new balance and date.
