Thailand's Cashless Leap: Ahead of the Asean Pack by 2028
Lacessit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well. you ignore the fact cash is untraceable, whereas every digital transaction can be tracked by nosy governments. Privacy is non-existent. Nobody has ever robbed me of cash, I have been scammed a couple of times when I went digital. IMO phone payments are the biggest vulnerability to hackers yet seen in the realm of digital transactions. You say traders in China do not accept cash anymore. No skin off my nose, visiting China is not on any bucket list I may have. As for Thailand, I think cash will be around for quite a while yet. -

Not that I care, but there are quite a few examples of initiatives in Thailand which have not come to pass. Legalizing prostitution. Majority rule. Reducing air pollution. Eliminating corruption. Enforcing traffic laws. That's not jumping to conclusions, that's going by past experience. -
Trump was not put on trial for having sex with Stormy Daniels, except in the court of public opinion. He was tried and convicted of falsifying business records. Nothing strange about that, unless the Kiwis have different fraud laws.

I take it as a responsibility. I enjoyed fatherhood at age 30, I very much doubt I would enjoy it now. If you got lucky with your kids, good for you. It doesn't always turn out that way, it's a lottery.

Breast cancer with raised underarm lymph nodes.
Lacessit replied to The Fugitive's topic in Health and Medicine
New chemotherapy drugs are being developed all the time, what may have been true 11 years ago is not necessarily true now. I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma two years ago, after getting a lump in my upper thigh checked. By the time I was treated in Australia, the cancer had spread to two other sites. I am in full remission. Biopsies are the cheap way to investigate, a complete examination would involve a CAT scan with a radioactive sugar marker. -
Personally, I could not think of anything worse than fathering a child in my sixties or seventies. Having to deal with parenting a teenager when I could cark it any point in that period would be unfair on both of us. I can understand people who want their genes to go on. Mankind probably won't miss mine, or theirs either if they don't procreate.

Why aren't bus seats made from flame retardant material?
Lacessit replied to Gobbler's topic in General Topics
Most cheap furniture cushioning is polyurethane foam. The premium cushion material is foamed natural rubber latex. It is difficult to make polyurethane flame retardant, as the compounds added for reduced flammabilty affect service life adversely. The Volkswagen Beetle used to have very comfortable seats made of coconut fibre molded with natural latex, I don't know if seats are made that way anymore. -
There are plenty of examples in the animal world of same sex activity. It's been observed in about 1500 species. The closest to humans are bonobos, chimpanzees, and gorillas. People who think there are only two genders in humans are like flat earthers and climate deniers, they ignore the evidence and what science shows as fact.

Valid point, I didn't think of that. -

Most people are capable of learning, it's whether they want to. -
Can't say I have noticed, I tend to focus on the cheeses I regard as good value and taste. MAKRO probably has some blue cheeses, I don't think Stilton is among them. This is a real cheese shop, in St.Andrews, Scotland. You know, the place where golf started.

Thailand's Cashless Leap: Ahead of the Asean Pack by 2028

In Australia, nearly all transactions are cashless. Most shops have touch and go stations. The only reason I draw cash when I am there is to take it back to Thailand. I am comfortable with a debit card for cashless transactions. The cards are in a Faraday cage most of the time. I would be most uncomfortable with phone banking, because IMO it is wide open to be hacked. -

I guess you won't be letting us know if you happen to get scammed. What makes you think you are invulnerable? -
Social media has enabled the crazies. A lot of the stuff there is anti-science. I am always amused by the long drawn out fight scenes beloved by film makers. Truth is, the average male or female hit in the face would be vomiting up their last meal immediately, and would have headaches for a week. The Second Amendment has become a monster, out of control. Every time there is a school shooting, gun sales go up. Santayana's aphorism writ large.

I don't enjoy the inconvenience of some half-wit at the register who takes several minutes to work out how to pay with their phone. The problem with smartphones- there are a lot of dumb people using them.- 170 replies

Like most initiatives in Thailand, unlikely to happen. Many rural Thais do not have bank accounts.- 170 replies

You only think you got best quality beef. While I have no doubt it was good quality, IME nothing beats beef grown in Gippsland. It's the combination of climate, soil and pasture.
-
Top End beef is exported from Darwin, Broome and Wyndham. It's close to Asian markets. It has to compete with Argentinian and US producers. OTOH, beef from Gippsland is only exported in limited quantities, due to local demand and the added cost of shipping. Take a look at where Melbourne and Darwin are on a map of Australia, relative to Asia. Maybe then you will understand.

From your posts, I'd say you are quite used to circular arguments.

Vance is strongly against abortion. So is Trump, in a nod to the Christian nationalists. Everyone knows he would sell his own mother for votes. Melania has come out pro-abortion. You don't think that is a significant development, telling Vance to pull his head in?

How would Australians force you to eat Vegemite, and why would they want to? I mostly live on what I or my GF cooks, street food can be a bit of a lottery.

Just proves Australians have good immune systems.
