  1. Does this mean you're drawing down the 25% Tax Free sum over the years or the 1st 25% of your monthly pension payments are tax free... E.g. If somebody had a 6,000 per month pension would that mean their personal tax allowance is effectively 30,570 pa (12,570 PTA + 1,500 pm from 25% of their pension) . I'm planning on taking the 25% for no other reason that to lower the taxable income I get in the UK but if I can get 25% of the payment tax free on top of my normal personal tax allowance then it makes sense not to take it.
  2. Sorry just missed the edit time limit... https://www.cnet.com/culture/entertainment/next-james-bond-must-commit-to-10-12-years-of-playing-007/
  3. To meet the current requirements the Actor needs to commit 10 years to the franchise (3-4 films), Idris is 50/51, seems to have a lot of different things he wants to do so doubt would be willing to make that sort of commitment Shame as I think he would make a great Bond...
  4. Absolute tosh & I'm a big Luther fan (I actually binge re-watched every episode of every series in prep for this film). Don't bother....
  5. Am sure I read that in Phuket you need something like 21 days left on your permission to stay to apply for the conversion. But if the OP is arriving on a 60 day Tourist Visa they always have the option of getting a 30 day extension before doing the conversion...
  6. I can only share what it says on their website as I got my Non-Imm O in Penang (where I did need the 800K in the bank + I took certified income statements just in case), unfortunately somebody mentioned that Penang is no longer an option ???? Required documents Visa application form [Download] which is completely filled out and signed by the applicant Original and a copy of passport or travel document (must not expire within 180 days and contain at least two complete empty visa pages) Two (2) photos of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months) Bank Statement (minimum of THB 800,000) or Certification of Income (minimum of THB 65,000 monthly) A pension letter or a prove of retirement issued by the applicant's Embassy/Consulate Visa Fee: 2,000 Baht (Single Entry) https://savannakhet.thaiembassy.org/th/publicservice/non-immigrant-visa-o-visa-retirement-in-thailand?page=5d84a44c15e39c26b400453e&menu=5d84a44c15e39c26b400453f If I were doing it today I would come on a Visa Exempt & get an agent to do the Non-Imm O + 12 month extension (In Pattaya, Maneerat will do this for 23K for you & it includes 1st year's 90 day reports).
  7. Don't know which country you are from but in the UK I doubt >10% of people have > £1200 in their bank account either. Do many people in the US have > $1400 in their checking accounts?
  8. https://phnompenh.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/non-immigrant-o-visa-retirement?page=5d73b14415e39c46f40076a1&menu=5d73b14415e39c46f40076a2 Required Documents Visa application form completely filled out and signed Photograph (size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) taken within the last 6 months Passport (valid for no less than 6 months) and a copy of the passport (Please note that the applicant must be at least 50 years of age and no longer employed.) Financial evidence of at least 800,000 Thai Baht or 65,000 Thai Baht per month in income or retirement funds (or equivalent in any currency) Other documents as may be requested by the consular officer As @DrJack54has recommended, best option is to come to Thailand & do an in-country conversion (23K for an agent to get your Non-Imm O 90 days + 12 month extension, so you're good for 15 months)
  9. I'm sure there's a queue of guys waiting to take his "Crown" & I have to confess in my younger days I've made a dick of myself enough times to know that if I wasn't 57 I would probably be in the queue. Difference being I did it for 1 drunken night then was really apologetic/ sheepish (embarrassed) for 3-4 days, seems this guy went at it until somebody stopped him.
  10. Seems like he's been making a <deleted> of himself for 3 days until it finally came back on him...
  11. All reports thus far are that the "2 Copies of all papers" are only for Marriage Extensions at CW but if a copy costs 2b how much would it cost to have 2 Copies of everything anyway? Yes a Non-Imm O Visa Extension is exactly the same as a Non-Imm OA extension save for you don't need the evidence of Insurance [NB I'm assuming we're talking about a "Retirement" extension here, have no knowledge/experience of Non-Imm Marriage or Dependents extensions).
  12. This video popped up on my YT feed today... ... & I was reminded of this thread. The 1st 6 (of 9) countries are in Latin America & I was shocked at how cheaply/easily the guy says it is to retire in any of them (Certainly didn't match my memory of the discussions we had in this thread) and possibly more importantly how cheaply/easily it is to get PR in them. @Jingthingare you still keeping up to date with the retirement requirements in the LatAm countries? Do the numbers in this video look right to you?
  13. Interesting because as a Brit it makes no sense to me that the President of the USA is elected at the start of November but doesn't take Office until some 3.5 months later. [In the UK "Power" is handed over the next day]. Back on Topic, the delay between inheriting the crown & being coronated is a mourning period to show respect for the late queen. If you were to check the passing of another long serving monarch & compare it to when his son was coronated I think you'll find it was approx. 2.5 years.
  14. Whenever I want to get from A-2-B I always check on Rome2Rio... E.g. Pattaya to Rayong by Bus comes back with Nakhonchai Air (5 times per day) & Yellow Bus (once per day)... https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Pattaya/Rayong#r/Bus/s/0 I can see somebody has already posted the contact details for the NCA contact center, if those don't work you could try... 0-2939-4999 [email protected] Or you can use Facebook Chat https://www.facebook.com/nakhonchaiair.official/
  15. And where exactly do you think the Thais should be deported to? Their own country? Of course they won’t be deported, by International law you cannot deport anybody from a country they have citizenship rights in unless they have citizenship rights elsewhere & even then it’s hard to do. I do agree that if you’re going to make 2 minor motoring offences = deportation/blacklisting then the penalty for Thais doing the same should be increased severely but talk of deporting them is asinine.
  16. What does this have to do with Pattaya? "at a single-storey detached house in the Bang Saray sub-district of Sattahip district, Chonburi"
  17. I would have thought that in the case of a serious accident like this, they would do Blood toxicology tests if for no other reason than it could be fatal to give him medication if he was intoxicated or impaired due to having other drugs in his system (NB I am not saying this is the case here). One time in Bangkok after a few beers I tripped cutting my head open & had to go to hospital for a scan/stiches, they took blood samples but I can't say for sure what they did with them. Total cost was only 15K so I just paid it & didn't bother with the Insurance company as I knew that if they had tested for alcohol I would have been over the limit. I think most of us have a few drinks on holiday & would probably fail the insurance bar for the amount of alcohol we have in us at night, this is a very unfortunate reminder of what could happen if you did find yourself in that situation (Again, I am not saying that is the case here).
  18. If you read the linked article, it seems they have Travel Insurance "Eleven days after the incident, Shauna said they were still in an 'exhaustive and tiring fight' with the insurance company."
  19. One year from your current permission to stay date so 8th April 2024.
  20. Desperate Measures (2022)... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22801126/
  21. Same here & I know of at least 3 other guys who have a bad chesty cough as well.
  22. Thanks, I was used to paying 112b for them for a long time but could have sworn I'd seen them at 220b in Tops Central Festival a couple of days before - Most probably me reading the prices wrong. Last time Friendship had the buy-1-get-1-free offer it was something like 195 for 2x454 bricks which was an absolute bargain.
  23. Thanks, funny enough mine is a Barclays pension (I believe yours is HSBC) & my GF is 20.5 years my junior so I'm guessing it will be the same & she will also lose 10% of the money. BUT even then it is enough for her to live a comfortable life so, as you say, probably the best provision we can make them.
  24. Bought a couple of 500g packs of Mainland Vintage Cheddar at (iirc) 275b per pack from Friendship yesterday, occasionally they'll have in on offer at around 210b which is roughly what you pay for a 250g pack elsewhere. Also bought a couple of 450g packs of Anchor Butter for (iirc) 255b per pack, occasionally they have this on a Buy-1-Get-1-Free offer which is an absolute bargain given the 225g packs normally sell for around 220b. ... And that's all I bought in there. NB. Friendship is quite good & I normally buy lots of other stuff in there but I needed to go to Terminal 21 & the Bangkok Bank on North Pattaya Road so I just got the bare essentials ????
  25. Thanks, I only nominated her 2 days back (I only think of my pension when they remind me a week or 2 after my birthday) so hopefully will get some form of acknowledgment in the next few days. As mentioned I’m 3 years (- 2 weeks) away from being able to claim my pension but will make sure this is set in stone when it comes to sorting out the final details. As an aside I’m on a DB (Final Salary) Pension but am planning to take the 25% tax free lump sum & from what I can make of this year’s pension quotes it seems this wouldn’t affect any pension she gets at all as she seems to get 50% of my max pension whether I take the tax free amount or not.
