Thanks, but with respect I see no mention of Cambodia which also issues dedicated Retirement (ER) visas for those 55 years or older. Simple and hassle free to apply for one at any appointed travel agent. No dealings with Immigration itself. Start with an Ordinary (E) Visa at border entry (not to be confused with the Tourist online e-Visa). This is valid for 30 days and costs 30$. Then you can apply for a Retirement Visa for 6 or 12 months. I have a 12 month ER visa which cost me 290$. Multiple Entries for its duration are also included. No financial requirements/evidence required. No Cambodian bank account required. Registration on the FPCS (Foreigners Present in Cambodia System), valid passport and 2 recent pp photos required. Holders of ER visas are not allowed to work. Please note: Tourist (T) and online e- Visas (mainly for tourists to avoid queues at border crossings) CANNOT be extended as Retirement Visas.

Thaksin’s imminent return stirs hope, anxiety in Thailand
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, he and his sister were almost home this weekend 5 - 6 August 2023 and just over the border! Reference today's "The Nation" (source Phnom Penh Post) 6 August 2023. In a surprising turn of events, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Yingluck Shinawatra attended the birthday celebrations of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on August 5. The festive occasion marked Hun Sen's 72nd birthday. The relationship between Hun Sen and Thaksin dates back to 1992 when they became God brothers. They have maintained a close connection ever since, even though Thaksin and his sister Yingluck were both ousted from power through coups. The unexpected attendance of the Shinawatras at Hun Sen's birthday adds a new chapter to this intriguing political relationship. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/politics/40029982 Intriguing indeed! Will Hun Sen become the new PM of Thailand whilst his son is PM of Cambodia??? (only joking) Now we know how possibly easy it was for them to "escape" from Thailand. -

At last, some well needed exercise! -
For reference to clear any confusion (The Nation 4 August 2023) The suspects (both Burmese) however, said the tourists asked them to make a video of a terrorist incident that was staged for the tourists’ entertainment............ The clip showed a young man dressed in black forcing a group of more than 10 Middle Eastern tourists to kneel or sit down in a row. It also showed him pointing a “pistol” at the head of one male tourist ............... The pistol, however, was just a cigarette lighter................ The suspects were asked to pretend to be members of a Thai gang that terrorised tourists to extort money from them.................. used a smartphone belonging to one of the tourists to film the enactment. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40029895 Getting their own back at Pattaya (bad publicity) for curtailing their motorbike activities???

Yes indeed. Residing here across the border in Cambodia, it is amazing and hilarious to read of the Fred Carno antics within Thai politics. However there is a reason IMO. A recent and fascinating You Tube video was posted (outside of Thailand due to 112 no doubt) about the need by the top establishment to maintain control of the country with a military backed government and nothing less! Because of all the current mess and uncertainty (possibly "arrranged") another coup may be imminent. (I sincerely hope not for the sake of the ordinary folk). Sadly, I cannot refer you to the YT video as I may be subject to 112 should I visit Thailand or have "men in black" following me to the Mekong! -
