I do love a man with a sense of humour
Can give one example that effects me directly. The clearing out of 90% of street stalls in Bangkok and especially lower sukhumvit and the massive brown envelope corruption along with it
We have humor and we have stupid. Im the funny guy ????

Well, the army seemed absolutely desperate to cling to power and the rewriting of the constitution pretty much assured that. Now, the question is, can Thailand ever get rid of them? Or are they destined to be a backwards moving nation forever?
Not sure about you guys, but this election sure leaves a bitter taste in my mouth in regards to my future in Thailand. A lifetime under these hapless incompetents?
Thailand will get raped for decades to come as it has for decades in the past but why do you think Corruption is worse under the current government? They have done more to fight corruption than the previous rapists.

Given that AirBNB is theoretically illegal in Thailand, I wonder how many AirBNB hosts report overnight or longer-term guests

Why should there be a protest after the king's death. Thais of all parties and classes honour and respect the royal family.
People had hope at the beginning that the uncle general would change something. Then they were looking forward to these elections to chase him out in a democratic way.
As we see it didn't work out.

I wasn't clear. There were a million posts on TV well ok maybe 7 thousand over the years leading up to the kings passing. Thailand was supposed to fall apart. real estate was going to be nearly free and the baht would implode..
Are you new here? I guessed you missed it.
Take a look out your window , see that som tam cart and the 6 people in line? Well here is a revelation they have already forgotten the election, their brains are hard wired that way and on the other hand we have the big Bwana westerners on TV who will be fighting about this for years to come . They need to look into their own version of democracy in their home countries which are mostly shambles before they pass on their expert advice to the Thais

But they will bump up the quality of wine from $50 to $70 served during their wine and cheese nightsMeaning less service for more fees and outsourcing anything possible to sub contractors so godforbid you do not disturb and bother the consulat staff with trivia chores like issuing passports and visa...- 3

If by then Phalang Ptacharat is declaring a win and nominate Prayuth, I expect something happening

I wake up this morning and find myself still living in a banana republic run by a tinpot dictator.
My wife is gutted and ashamed of her country. She doesn't know of one person that voted for El Presidente and finds it beyond belief that anyone voted for him. No wonder the "government" went to such lengths to keep independent observers away from the election. Pure sham. David Copperfield would have been proud of the show.
I wouldn't worry about it. Your wife is suffering a little loss of face and her friends obviously dont represent the majority . Its called democracy and she was simply on the losing side. ????

Stop your crying. Every Thai I know wanted this result. surprise Thais want stability and not baying for a bloody civil war like most farang who would quite frankly jump on the first flight out and watch the carnage from the safety of a first world couch.

And now it is time to ask the all-important question (which I and others have been speaking about for months in advance): Who is going to dare demand PROOF that the 'count' of the vote is true, honest and accurate? What outside body (TRULY independent) is going to risk the wrath of the junta and demand unfettered access to ALL the relevant votes, vote-collection and vote-counting?
The junta still have guns and tanks and lawcourts and - everything ....
Its ironic everybody demands a democracy and then demand a recount because... well .. it just aint fair!
