  1. Have you looked at this? Tax on foreign income: UK residence and tax - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Depending on your personal circumstances, it may help.
  2. Clip from "Have I Got News For You" in 2006 HIGNFU - Pot Noodle.mp3
  3. Anywhere you like - you've got plenty of space ????
  4. Ahhh..... religion - the greatest conspiracy theory of them all.
  5. Thank you again - I'm EVEN better informed. ???? In all my life i've never considered that Salmonella was a risk in fruit / veg. I've always thought it was just meat, poultry (and eggs) and fish. Totally illogical when you think about it. The things you learn on a forum dedicated to Thailand ????
  6. Even when I was working (as a Contractor) I never worried too much whom i offended (sorry...who chose to take offence at my utterings) I spoke my mind and often senior management would thank me for my candour. "Publish and be damned" I say
  7. Thank you - I'm better informed. From your explanation it does look as if the meat was the initial carrier, with the bugs cooked out but remaining in the juice / stock (?) That then infected the vegetables. Presumably, all would have been OK if the vegetables had been cooked separately, Western style, but that's not the Asian way.
  8. Which is why i've kept all the docs, PDFs and JPEGs from last time to be reused or adapted for next time! And I'm STILL going to apply 2-3 months early! ????
  9. As usual @spidermike007 I find myself agreeing with most of what you have said on this thread. I would add.....all of those terms should be ignored as should people who claim to be "Woke" or "PC". Whoever these terms apply to, it comes down to their chosen lifestyle which, as long as only consenting adults are involved, is none of my or anyone else's damn business! And....if one is offended by something, it's usually because they've chosen to take offence, not because someone else has caused it. Finally that's my unapologetic take on the subject.
  10. Financially cheaper certainly...what price the mental stress caused by the current system? ????????
  11. Glad you finally got your visa @Chivas This is NOT a dig at you (as you applied early) but my advice for others: I just looked at my most recent eVisa and it was valid for 3 months from date of grant. I actually applied a month before travel I strongly suggest everyone applies as early as possible for their visas - ie don't cause yourself a last minute panic! I'll post this on the linked topics as well.
  12. This is NOT a dig at anyone partway through the application process merely my advice for others: I just looked at my most recent eVisa and it was valid for 3 months from date of grant. I actually applied a month before travel I strongly suggest everyone applies as early as possible for their visas - ie don't cause yourself a last minute panic! I'll post this on the linked topic as well.

I'll post this on the linked topic as well. Didn't it used to be easy, before all the "improvements"?
  14. Some music to listen to whilst dining (this is a genuine album cover, from 1968 by the way)
  15. I can't spell persecuted either ????
  16. Slight correction if i may: 6. Copy of a recent bank statement showing at least £500 in the account - think they want your name and address and OBFUSCTED bank sort code and account number on the statement. NO WAY am i leaving my Sort Code and Account Number visible!!!!! That worked in Jan 2023, by the way - if it hadn't i would have had to edit the statement. ????
  17. Not doubting you as such, but I've always thought that meat is far more likely to be the culprit than veggies. Especially pork which, I believe, is where the Halal and Kosher laws emanated a couple of thousand years ago. Have you a link to this information?
  18. You could buy one that allows you to pay on a monthly basis, then stop the payments - but do write to the company and tell them you're cancelling it.
  19. For 8 I've used a Council Tax statement. Where appropriate, an obfuscated Bank Statement. And... I made a PDF file containing the phrase "Is this required for a Tourist Visa?" for those questions that are inapplicable to TV. As @Jaggg88 said, it's a poorly designed website that tries to cover all visa types at once.
  20. Tripadvisor is one good way, but then you're being deliberately contentious.....
  21. At least offer her Marmite not that poor colonial copy! ????????????
  22. In that case - Respect I would, however suggest that you're in a minority.
  23. Especially too much McD or KFC or Fish & Chips with all the fat content! (Just my and many medical experts' opinions, you understand ????)
  24. Given the choice of (cooked!) Thai food over Western rubbish like McD or KFC, give me spicy Thai food any day! I cook lots of Thai food in UK, Larb, or curries mainly and tend to make it as spicy as anything in Thailand. But then I like spicy Indian food too..... IMO, McD or KFC, etc are far less healthy than a well-prepared Panang Gai.
