  1. Oldie but goldie mate - still good for a "HaHa" though 😉😂
  2. Any Brits following the advice of the British Foreign Office may avoid the area...... Thailand travel advice - GOV.UK Still current at: 13 December 2025 Updated: 12 December 2025 Latest update: FCDO now advises against all travel to within 50km of the whole border with Cambodia except for Koh Chang, Koh Kood and the other islands in between them, where FCDO continues to advise against all but essential travel. Unless their travel is "essential" of course, ignoring the advice may invalidate travel insurance.
  3. No problem.... got a cold wave for that ice-hole
  4. We're all too chilled to worry about it ❄️🧊
  5. if i remember rightly, the web site did ask for the arrival card to be printed. either way, any seasoned/experienced traveler will tell you, always have a hardcopy, because you never know, you may lose/have your phone stolen, then where would you be? And yet, on several threads on AN, people are saying that once you've applied for a TDAC that's it - the IO can see it on the system. I plan to print my next TDAC and have it on my phone - "just in case" As I've said elsewhere "better to have it and not need it than the other way around"
  6. I agree. The OP says "prompting calls for action against both the tourist and the taxi driver.." I realise a lot of criticism is levelled against taxi drivers, especially on Phuket, but in this case the driver is not to blame if he picks up passengers who turn out to be total morons with a death wish. In fact I feel sorry for said driver.
  7. I would be very surprised if they revert back to 30 days. Also, I expect the border runs organised by the visa agents to resume, but maybe not until after the elections. Just my guess. Thank you both 👍 I felt sure that there was a thread a couple of months ago that discussed VE going back to 30 days "soon" Trouble is, despite being sure (?) that I was following it, I cannot find it so perhaps I was wrong or maybe it was indeed rumour. Anyone else recall or am I having "senior moments?" 👴
  8. On that subject, has anyone got any concrete knowledge NOT rumours please of a date for VE returning to 30 days? I'm travelling in Feb and hoping to get a VE for 60 days but if i need a SETV I've plenty of time....at the moment!
  9. As is usually the case worldwide. It's nearly always the poor and infirm who suffer from the actions of their "leaders" who are comfortably remote from the actual fighting. Also, something I take from the OP is that with Cambodia's non-existent air power at least the conflict will (should) be confined to border areas rather than towns across Thailand. Having said that, I wonder what Cambodia's 1500-strong air force does with no fighter aircraft? Helicopters? Surely not bombers??
  10. Hope you decked him and took a bow before you left 😉
  11. A friend of mine was asked to show proof in UK at Qata check in That's why, although many posters advise otherwise, I shall have the email that I'm sent ready to show at check-in. Might even print it and keep it in my passport! Rather have it and not need it, then the other way around. Slightly but everything I read about Qatar Airways makes me glad I'm flying with Emirates again!
  12. Accompanied in the first sketch by Sam Kydd, a man who popped up in hundreds of movies from the 1950s on, nearly always in a "bit part"
  13. Must've got the sack 😏😎
  14. Well we do like a nice pear...and did I mention we also like a nice pair?
  15. Oh F*** off!! - you certainly know how to hurt a guy!!! 🤬🤬 I was cleaning my living room today with The Rolling Stones playing very loudly. I'm not old, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not 😧😧
  16. See ya later then..... 🎶🎷
  17. Snappy dresser? 🤔
  18. I too am with Tesco Mobile in the UK. My Nokia 6.1 has been connected to 4G from the day I bought it and put my Tesco SIM in it. Tesco still send me reminders that "my phone won't work after 3G is switched off". This is probably because I have a SIM-only deal with Tesco. Therefore they do not know what phone I'm using therefore they assume the worst and send me reminders. All you need to do is check in your Samsung Settings and see if it's presently connected to 4G. It should offer you a "preferred network type". If that includes 4G, you're all set.
  19. I understand it's being translated into several Indian dialects, by someone with very poor spelling skills and the given name of "Onion" 😁
  20. Similar in Dhahran about the same time. A certain oil company (sic) even offered a booklet called "The Blue Flame" which taught you how to make and operate a still without blowing your company house up. 🤔 Officially of course, they did no such thing!😉
  21. Is this owned by the same people as https://g.co/kgs/iA16LHn which is in Central Pattaya not Naklua and is very good?
  22. I don't think so. If that's what you plan to do, I believe you won't have any problems,as long as you stay within the limits of your Visa exemption. I agree. Furthermore a "genuine" tourist will have a confirmed ticket back home (or their country of work) at the end of their travels. And there is still the option of getting SETV or METV before you set off if you do want to stay longer or tour. And to @Expat68 you opined that the average stay might be ".... more like one month" Sure, that might be an average but, using myself as an example, I usually stay for about 58 days but then return to UK for several months. So far that means one VE is enough. And to quote the OP I don't do "back-to-back visa-free requests" So I use myself as an example of a genuine tourist - if I'm fortunate enough to be able to come to Thailand twice in a year, each trip starts out in my home country and I have a return ticket. I believe that profile will still be OK.
  23. Of course it will; people will see the stories and think twice about potential hassle at the airport, which is something no one wants during a holiday. If they came in Jan and wanted to come again in November the same year, they'll likely go somewhere else for the 2nd trip to avoid being questioned. Your scenario is that of a genuine tourist, especially if they return to their home country from Feb to October. IE, they are living (working or retired) outside Thailand and are fortunate enough to take multiple holidays in a year. If, additionally they stay in hotel, boarding house type accommodation and have a return ticket then they are the very definition of a (wealthier than average) tourist. Or am I missing something here?
  24. So at some point, somewhere in this and other threads, is discussed that VE is going back to 30 days from 60. I just looked at the London Embassy website and it still shows 60 days https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/page/exemp-visa (This for people whom the Thais regard as "genuine" tourists, of course) As such an individual, I'm confused...30 or 60??
