  1. You are not being paranoid. I lived in Bangkok for three years. The first one was 48 years old. Accountant for large company. She couldn’t see me more than once a week. If I asked her any questions she would get evasive or nasty. And some things didn’t add up. The other one was 44 years old. Not being evasive. But if she didn’t like something I asked she could get very nasty and hostile. And always wanted me to buy her things or she would get an attitude. She works for a major skincare company. And both lacked any real type of intimacy.
  2. Since you say you are elderly and concerned about falling and all that. You should consider staying in a much less crowded area. That is the way Bangkok is and probably never will change. And many major cities are.
  3. It has to do with what you would like to do with the rest of your life. if you just think about waiting for death your rest of your life will be depressing
  4. Maybe you can get away with it in a rural village. But not in the cities
  5. There are honest and dishonest people everywhere. This person happened to be an honest one
  6. I commend the officer. And yes this form of behavior should be expected in any country. Unfortunately there are many people who will just leave as long as no one sees them
  7. Seizures could be caused by anything. I suggest you go to Bumrungard Hospital in Bangkok. During my three years living in Bangkok I had excellent care there. And Sheryl gives excellent recommendations regarding doctors.

    Gyms

I know that the gym in Terminal 21 does not offer weekly or daily rates. While living in Bangkok I did have a Jett’s membership. But if I to change up for a week or two. I used an app on my phone called FitTripper. It gives gyms in a specific area with prices and you choose the duration. You book it through the app and it notifies the specific gum
  9. The precautions mentioned in the article are just common sense . I haven’t heard about the overnight fire issue. In that case you have to keep an eye on the phone the whole time while charging at any time of the day.
  10. I bought some shirts in large malls that fit well. I’m slim fit usually. But you can’t go too inexpensive. You can also try tailor made. I bought some of those also. Not too expensive. Also depends on your budget. Some expats think 200 baht for a shirt is too expensive.
  11. Women I dated in Bangkok always acted like they were the Big Boss
  12. I only dated two women in Bangkok during my three year stay. I also stayed in Bangkok three months prior to that. No bargirls. I either just chatted on Line with them. Or just met them in person a couple of times as an intro meet. No bargirls . They were all employed. I did meet quite a number of them. Basically all of them looked as me as their own personal bank. Some even on the first meeting. Wanting me to buy them clothes, jewelry, etc. Which I refused. Didn’t matter what job they had. i dated one lady during the three months I was in Bangkok. Then communicate when I left, then dated again upon my return. Probably total of eight months. She was an accountant 48 years old, university degree. Nice new car and all that. She still expected me to buy her things when we were together such as jewelry, clothes. Immature, and would go off on a rant if she didn’t like something. And I had the impression she was seeing other guys too. The other one was 44. Worked in retail. Originally from Issan living in Bangkok 22 years. Limited education. Similar type of behavior. Would go off over something she didn’t agree with or if I wouldn’t buy her something. Bad temper. Child like or worse temper tantrums. Im not trying to stereotype. But the impression from both women I dated. And the ones I just met for coffee for an intro. You are just viewed as a foreigner to get things from. And that is why they are with you. And basically very immature, bad temperament.
  13. So he committed a crime wearing his work uniform. Not too bright. I hope he at least made his delivery first if he had one

    Cheap barbers

The cheapest barbers when I lived in Bangkok averaged 400 or 500 baht. The majority of the customers were locals. Of course it depends what someone defines as expensive or cheap
  15. At least those delivery drivers have a job to occupy their time
  16. The mold is appearing due to the hot humid environment. If it wasn’t hot let’s say a cooler dryer environment it probably wouldn’t have happened. You never saw it before because I’m guessing you would run the air conditioner periodically. This time you were not there for three months. Causing a build up of heat and humidity causing the issue
  17. Every individual recovers from surgical procedures differently. Especially orthopedic type injuries. He has a massive tear also. With some other issues. These types for the most part require surgical intervention. A qualified orthopedic specialist should be consulted . You should consider Sheryl’s recommendation
  18. From what I read in these forums. And speaking to some expats when I was living in Bangkok. Most of the expats had a hard life. That’s why they moved to Thailand
  19. It’s very difficult to know who is actually PM and who is not
  20. First of all . I’m sorry to hear a very tragic story such as this. May the little girl RIP. I realize it’s the way you feel. But this does not call for a show of support. It’s a case that the court system needs to address. And the guilty has to be punished. The victim is a seven year old child. That makes the case very different. No one is going to let the person get away with that. And if the person is sent to prison. His fellow prisoners will know what he did. And they will not take too kindly of it. Instead of asking for strangers to attend.to show support . You say there are distant relatives in Korat? But they can’t afford to travel. Maybe you should consider paying for them to attend the trial. The family should be at the proceedings if they want.
  21. This really has nothing actually to do with Thailand perilous roads. . It has to do with driver error. And not wearing a helmet. This could have happened anywhere
  22. Unfortunately it seems that quite a number of expats in Thailand have alcohol consumption problems. Either full blown alcoholics or just heavy drinkers.
