That is illegal. A Passports remain the property of the government that issues it. Refusing to return patients clothing is a totally different ballgame.

I'm surprised they sent an officer home with him as they usually escort you to an ATM machine before leaving hospital. That's my experience. So I call BS on the above.

This is nit picking but if you deliberately mislead some institution into believing you live somewhere where you do not is dishonest.

I have to disagree with the above. Being an honest kinda guy I didn't do any of the things you recommend and I never had any problems. I even left the sale of my house through my solicitor giving him power of attorney.

Dunno if it's of any help but I opened my 'Smile Bank' account into a joint account with my wife about 3-4 years ago. And she has never lived in the UK with me other than a 2 week holiday.

Yes by post. Notifications of any bank changes that may affect me. My bank statements are available online.

All I can say is that I was resident in the UK when I opened my 'Smile' internet account. They know my address is now Thailand and they send notifications to it.

Sorry I can't help other than to suggest you employ a tractor driver and machine for the day. Buying one of the machines you are after just wouldn't be viable unless you use it all the time. Good luck. -

Joint Bank Account

I fell foul of the joint bank account at immigration when I was new here. My wife and I turned up at immigration not knowing that instead of having 400,000 in my/our account I needed 800,000 due to the joint bank account. I/we had to travel 200km, round trip, back to the bank and cancel the joint account and open a single account in my name only. No joint account for me ever again. -
From what the OP said initially that shouldn't be too far away if the hospital refuses to treat him..
