  1. I have a similar problem. In the last year I have gotten the pain much more under control, used to be pretty much around the clock. Now it is just occasional aching not sharp pain. I use ibuprofen and frequent doses of diclofenac topical gel. The diclofenac I use is difelene and I used to only put it on when my knees hurt, but the instructions on the package said use four times a day and when I do that it helps a lot. I have soft neoprene knee braces for both knees with velcro closures, I stop every lap around my nearby pond (0.3 miles) and rest just long enough to tighten the knee braces and check my walking app, so about 2 minutes. My total walking time is around 55 minutes and about 10 minutes of that is rest. My pain is pretty well controlled but if I go further the pain gets more severe. Definitely try and control the pain I would say. Just my experience, as always YMMV. The problem that really limits me is my right knee on stairs is still really painful. Up and down stairs, it's kind of variable but more than a few stairs and I usually have trouble and pretty sharp pain.
  2. "But here’s the question: Is it just a mindset, or do circumstances play a role? " I think the answer is both mindset and circumstances are important. Mind over matter?, Meh, somethings you can't overcome with will power and effort, some you can. What I could do ten years ago I probably can't do now, but I can try.
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 90/100 My Time 76 seconds
  4. Have you been getting posting tips from Gamma?
  5. My experience used to be that all MC/VISA and electronic banking functions worked great internationally. But it isn't always true. This last year I had several weeks where I had to use bank transfers to pay online transactions because my card wasn't honored online. Also, when I was supposed to be sent an OTP code I wouldn't receive a code so the transaction could not be completed. For one bank, when logging on to the website OTP by SMS didn't work, OTP by voice call did. These are accounts opened in the US and the phone is on a US phone provider network. I called and SMSed the US phone from my Thai phone and it worked fine. The last week everything seems to be working great again. So my question is, which principle overrules the other? Occam's razor or Murphy's Law?
  6. I miss the many Mexican restaurants. Different family-owned restaurant every mile in LA. Inexpensive and delicious.
  7. I have had this problem to some extent as well. One thing that helped me was learning about the Common Cognitive Distortions. You can find a lot of articles about them online. Learning about them doesn't stop you from worrying but it allows you to identify when you are thinking in a distorted way. Learning about them helped me to control these thoughts after they kind of spontaneously arise, I can "nip them in the bud" and dismiss them when I recognize they are distortions. Might be helpful to you as well. Here is one list, all the lists you find are very similar. Cognitive Distortions Cognitive distortions are irrational thoughts that shape how you see the world, how you feel, and how you act. It’s normal to have these thoughts occasionally, but they can be harmful when frequent or extreme. Magnification and minimization: Exaggerating or minimizing the importance of events. You might believe your own achievements are unimportant or that your mistakes are excessively important. Catastrophizing: Seeing only the worst possible outcomes of a situation. Overgeneralization: Making broad interpretations from a single or few events. “I felt awkward during my job interview. I am always so awkward.” Magical thinking: The belief that thoughts, actions, or emotions influence unrelated situations. "If I hadn't hoped something bad would happen to him, he wouldn't have gotten into an accident." Personalization: The belief that you are responsible for events outside of your control. “My mom is always upset. She would be fine if I did more to help her.” Jumping to conclusions: Interpreting the meaning of a situation with little or no evidence. Mind reading: Interpreting the thoughts and beliefs of others without adequate evidence. “She wouldn’t go on a date with me. She probably thinks I’m ugly.” Fortune telling: The expectation that a situation will turn out badly without adequate evidence. Emotional reasoning: The assumption that emotions reflect the way things really are. “I feel like a bad friend, therefore I must be a bad friend.” Disqualifying the positive: Recognizing only the negative aspects of a situation while ignoring the positive. You might receive many compliments on an evaluation, but focus on the single piece of negative feedback. “Should” statements: The belief that things should be a certain way. “I should always be perfect.” All-or-nothing thinking: Thinking in absolutes such as “always,” “never,” or “every.” “I never do a good enough job on anything.” https://www.therapistaid.com/worksheets/cognitive-distortions
  8. Do you often miss the point?
  9. He really let her have it. That was definitely an assault. Didn't take much courage she being about 35 kilos. Overreaction, not called for.
  10. "maybe even a bullet in your damn forehead” Maybe. Does he think nobody ever thought of that before? It would be great if it was that simple.
  11. If I am looking to name the. smartest members I look to the names in "RECENTLY BROWSING" who I never see posts from. Unlike me, they don't get pulled in to crazy discussions, just enjoy reading them.
  12. I have a Thai friend that says British and Americans are the best tourists. But then again sometimes talking to Thais they kinda confuse British with Americans.
  13. Assuming this is a sarcastic award gotta go with Gamma, always multiple pointless threads going from him.
  14. Some of the stereotypes are based on experience. I have witnessed pushy, rude Russians. My friend says it's from decades of pushing to the front of the bread line. I am talking about literally pushing others in public, from both male and female Russians. Indians have different standards of personal hygiene. Thais say they smell bad. I had a University educated Indian boss in the US who definitely had a different level of olfactory hygiene than what is considered normal in the US. So this is not necessarily low class Indians, who probably couldn't afford travel in any event. So some Indians definitely are less concerned about body odor. If I am in a tourist area I am very reluctant to talk to other Westerners, male or female. I live in a suburb with essentially no tourist attractions so I am less on my guard here although I don't initiate conversations. Single Western males are often scammers, weirdos, or tedious blowhards. (Honestly, I wasn't thinking of this forum). About Thais "They also don't share the same curiosity to learn about other people and their cultures the same way that locals might take more of an interest in those things when one travels to other countries." I don't find this to be true. My neighbors ask me questions about my home country, so does the cleaner at my condo, same thing with taxi drivers.
  15. This was in response to: "RIP to the lady...........dementia for sure and possible Covid affected his sense of smell........I still have problems smelling some things, almost five years later, like I can smell coffee just fine, but not bacon cooking." Just curious, what are you referring to?
  16. OK, you are really fantasizing. You usually need to have an advanced degree to teach at uni. I'm guessing you don't have a BA or BS since you haven't stated.
  17. That is fascinating. Always love to hear the phony pontificating of a pathetic wannabe intellectual. However, the point under discussion is what schools require of teachers. Their definition is the one that is pertinent, not yours.
  18. "YouTube would censor that video in a minute." Exactly. The Herman Cain Awards thread was not an edited, secondary source video. It presented the Facebook posts of virulent anti-vaxxers and then the posts after they became ill and need to be treated for COVID. It was primary source material from the individuals and their families. It was not to make fun of the unvaccinated, it was to show the disconnect between the beliefs of virulent anti-vaxers and the results of their refusing vaccination. It was the only place I ever found where the horrors of an end stage case of COVID were shown The MSM did not have the intestinal fortitude to show the end stage of COVID which is most decidedly not a bad case of the flu.
  19. Yeah, real convincing. Too low class for YouTube apparently so it's on Bitchute? A bunch of clips with a heavy metal(?) sound track? Not remotely a source of information. If you have put this forward as an argument for anything I gotta consider that when I evaluate else anything you might say.
  20. Do you have a college degree? A BS or BA not a certificate from Auto Body Repair School> Are you a native English speaker? That means UK, US, Australia, NZ, Canada. Some schools will take other nations if you have a high enough score on the TOEFL. How old are you? Over 60 makes it very difficult, schools are reluctant. There is some flexibility with some schools, but if you miss on all 3 it's gonna be tough. As to the Phillipines, they teach a version of English starting at first year of public school so they consider their homegrown teachers to be qualified and don't seek native speakers. If you are serious you could start looking at the "teachers wanted' ads on a website with the word "ajarn" in its name. You will see what schools are asking for.
  21. "unleash the DOGE phenomenon." It's not a new idea. Been promised and tried before, easy to promise, hard to do. Whose ox is gonna be gored (for the sacrifice)? I believe is the saying that applies. Every nickel of Federal spending benefits somebody and they are gonna be talking to their elected officials to preserve the programs they benefit from. It's a good idea, more power to them if they can do something.
  22. A lot depends on where you were during the height of the pandemic. I found the most compelling information (primary sources) came from the Reddit Hermann Cain Awards discussion.
  23. Spike protein? Huh. Not the complete virus then. Is that bad?
