I have read that the most reliable athletic performance enhancing drug is caffeine. I took a course from a physical therapist who prepared athletes for the NBA and NFL rookie combines as part of his business. He recommended they accustomed themselves to coffee before workouts leading up to the combine and drink the same amount on the day of the combine to enhance performance, He had elementary school age children and on days that they had exams he would have them drink coffee. He was really an enthusiast for a lot of supplements etc.; I couldn't imagine giving a school aged kid caffeine to improve test performance but he was convinced that it worked.

"Anyone quit drinking coffee here? " I quit all caffeine for over a year. No coffee, no cola, no tea, no caffeine at all. Only difference I noticed was I missed the pleasure of having a cup of coffee in the AM. As always, YMMV.
-
Benefits of quitting coffee are probably slight unless you are getting the jitters from coffee. Medical/dietary researchers appear to be puritanical types who want to get us to quit anything we enjoy (IMHO). For years they have tried to find a health problem with coffee, never anything significant found as a detriment. So if essentially no detriment to drinking coffee, can one expect a benefit from quitting? Maybe psychological, the elation that comes from being proactive about your health; which is a good thing. Try it and see how you feel.

Viral Tattoo: Foreigner causes internet stir after weird request

Nothing obscene but I saw a very chic, stylish young lady on the BTS, cool short edgy haircut, great makeup, stylish pants and shoes. But the t-shirt negated the effect with the word "Saint Margaret's Bell Gardens". -
Star of Light and Kangaroo Club were nice. Both are gone now.

Fox news and NY Post? Puhleeze. -
Doesn't seem to have anything to do with hiphop. I would think it is more to do with white collar criminals and politicians doing fake TV confessionals/apologies.

Microwave?
cdemundo replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
That is very true, straight forward heating stuff up is what they are best for. I have never adjusted the power level on a microwave for example. The only control I use is the timer. -
This is not necessarily a "woke" expression, but the one that annoys me is when a person gets caught in wrongdoing and says "that's not who I am". The question (IMHO) is not "who they are" it's "what they did". Also, "I take full responsibility for" when the only responsibility they take is to admit what they have already been caught doing. Now I gotta chase some damn kids off my lawn.

I agree, it literally drives me crazy. But it isn't a woke thing, it has infected all persuasions and many folks who I would think would know better.

Microwave?

No point that I can see to a built in microwave. If you decide you want one at some point get a counter top model. -
Right, it becomes confusing, misleading. I had an acquaintance who described a Black African person as African American. And of course Elon Musk is accurately described as an African-American person as he is originally from Pretoria, South Africa. But nobody actually thinks of Musk when they say African-American. Even still, it doesn't really upset me.

Interesting to see these people have strong support in their districts. AOC in particular seems to evoke strong negative (possibly ambivalent) reactions from some people. ‘Squad’ members cruise to reelection A group of six progressive House lawmakers known as the “squad” are all projected to cruise to reelection in Tuesday’s midterm elections. Various outlets have called the races for Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), Cori Bush (Mo.) and Jamaal Bowman (N.Y.). https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3726475-squad-members-cruise-to-re-election/

IMHO one of the great things about fútbol is that it costs almost nothing for kids to play. Kids play with soda cans as balls, they play without shoes, they can always find a way to play if they want to. It seems that no other sport can compare with the world wide talent pool that fútbol draws from. Although you would expect that a large talent pool would lead to the athletes with the greatest gifts, it seems it isn't that simple or China, India and Indonesia (having the largest populations) would dominate sports. -

It seems that like baseball cricket doesn't export well. Cricket seems to be popular only in former British colonies. -

I gotta say you have hit on another sport that has broader popularity than baseball. Football (soccer to us yanks) is clearly the most popular sport worldwide. Does basketball come second? But cricket is fanatically followed in several countries (one of humanity's great mysteries), while baseball has had limited appeal outside of the US. The countries where cricket is most popular are home to a significant part of the world's population: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh. -
I occasionally get friend requests from young women. I check to see if we have mutual friends, if yes I might accept. If no mutual friends I check to see what friends they have, if 199 older guys like me, figure she is a scammer. Usually I only accept from someone I don't know if we have mutual friends and refusing might cause offense.
