Pattaya Man Seeks Medical Help for Ring Stuck Around His Genitals
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I talked to an emergency room doctor once who told me that removal of objects from the anus and rectum was routine, probably daily/nightly task. He said the patients almost always had ridiculous explanations for how it got there. Your example was very close to one he told me about, the guy had a light bulb inserted, claimed he was changing a light bulb and fell off the ladder. Mr. Bean couldn't come up with a way for that to result in a light bulb in the butt. -
Bill Maher viciously roasts expats and expat destinations

I am not a big fan of Bill Maher but he can be very funny. Is he successful? He had enough spare change under the couch cushions to contribute a million dollars to an Obama super Pac in 2011. He is certainly financially successful. -

"a pseudo-intellectual, who is extremely intelligent...in his own mind. In actuality, he is just a bombastic nitwit of the 4th kind." Huh, Bill Maher ya say? -

"Wouldn't make it elsewhere." Right, because English-speaking entertainers all aspire to be popular in South Africa, Gibraltar, and Tasmania. Who would want to be successful in the USA? -
James Garner has a great bit in one of his western movies, he is telling another guy that he doesn't observe any of the privileges for women, holding doors, man always pays etc. The other guy says "Well I was always taught..." to treat women special. Garner says, "Who taught you that?" Guy says "My mother." Garner says "Right, a woman". (Can't remember the name of the movie, anyone here know?).

"After recovering from a first dengue infection, a person is protected from infection with the remaining three dengue serotypes for two to three months. Unfortunately, it is not long-term protection, and after that short period, a person can be infected with any of the remaining three dengue serotypes." https://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/host-response-to-the-dengue-virus-22402106/#:~:text=After recovering from a first, the remaining three dengue serotypes.

The expansion of Benjakiti Park has been a great success. Many people making use of the paths and trails everyday. Facilities for football, basketball, pickle ball in covered buildings so out of the hot sun. Really a lovely park.

Medical oxygen cylinder- safe to leave in a hot car?
cdemundo replied to poppysdad's topic in Health and Medicine
I am not sure about cost, but have you looked into a portable oxygen concentrator? Cost: I just Googled them and prices advertised from 23k to 43k baht. But ongoing costs are low. You don't have to worry about refills only recharging the battery. So maybe more convenient than tanks. They are small now as manufacturing them has advanced, maybe the size of a briefcase. Definitely would fit in a backpack. Then you just have to manage battery recharging and not worry about pressurized cylinders. -
Anti-HBc and Anti-HBs - Positive. HBs-Ag negative.

I just had blood test for Hep B. The took 2 blood sample with a 1 hour wait in between which I don't really understand. Anyone know the reason for this? Doctor said negative for infection and no treatment necessary which is all i really need to know. But she said several times that my immune system was very, very active. I am not really clear what she meant. I had a Hep B vaccination series in 1998 so maybe that is why my immune system was very, very active when tested for Hep B. I know I don't need treatment but I am not clear on the meaning of what the doctor said. Anyone can clarify for me? Thanks. -
Drunk British Man Launches Brutal Attack on Pattaya Bolt Driver: Update
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
"you let yourself get carried away" Right, I got carried away. I said the guy might be a cheapskate. Man what was I thinking? A guy who got into a violent fight over less than 200 THB might be a cheapskate? Obviously absurd. Right, I got even more belligerent. I used a phrase that essentially means "get lost", wow, I was so carried away, so belligerent. Strange that you consider being told to get lost as intimidation. You imagine I have a speech impediment? I imagine your response as being accompanied by a generous spray of spittle on your keyboard. You are raging over something you weren't even a party to and which amounted to a dispute over something like 200THB. No doubt you will want the last word so I will leave you to it. -

"Being so poor or possibly being such a cheapskate." Obviously I have reached no conclusion, thus the use of the word possibly. About you however I can reach a couple of conclusions. I suggest to you, as God said to Abraham, go forth and multiply with yourself. -

Being so poor or possibly being such a cheapskate. Sometimes those with plenty of money are obsessively cheap about transactions involving insignificant amounts. -

Kaset Fair to Showcase Farming Innovations and Culture
cdemundo replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
You might ask why not put an agricultural university in the middle of an isolated rice field? I only know about the USA but it is the same there. Agricultural fairs are often held at state universities where the agricultural research and development is taking place. Universities are often found in cities. -
KSR? Kentucky Sports Radio, when googled.

Foreign man refuses to pay fare and bites Bolt driver in Pattaya

Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Bitten Bolt Driver. Sherlock will figure it out. -
You are correct, I was converting " a tourist visa/visa exempt entry to a non B visa from within Thailand", and "a fully legally verified copy of the degree is required." In the process it was not always clear to me what was being required for the work permit and what was for the Non-B visa. The degree verification was done at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, so not the immigration bureau or the Ministry of Education. Because of the documentation involved I began to call it a "consecrated copy" of my degree. That was definitely the most onerous part of applying for needed documents for a teaching job. In any case, I was just meeting the requirements off my employer, and obeying the instructions given by my employer and the government agencies.

Amusing scams that you have fallen victim to.

My thought too, roundabout way to get in a little boasting. -
"Strangely, I think you'll find that run around is limited to degrees from USA. " It was a bit frustrating as I was aware as others have stated that methods of electronic checking exist, but no one was asking for my input on the topic. I guess fake degrees are a real problem. From current Bangkok Craigslist/jobs/education : "Teachers wanting or needing degrees If you need these for any reason contact me" So apparently fakes are still for sale.

Degrees are required in the process of getting a work permit as of 2023 (not starting 2023 just current status). That being said I know a teacher who is teaching for an agency and going to Thai public schools without a degree. I am told that the Thai monitoring agency gives a heads up to the school or employment agency as to when a check will be made and non-degreed teachers are sent home that day. But that is totally scuttlebutt that I can't verify. To get a work permit degrees need to be certified by Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country, notarized by your university, certified by State or Province and certified by your national government agency (in USA it's the State department). The mileage I had to send my degree back and forth was equal to one and a half times around the world after getting all these certifications. The Thai Embassy requires the other certifications so they really just rubber stamp it. Just as an additional hoop to jump through, The Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles requires payment in a money order in US dollars to be included in the mailing with the degree to be certified. Not easy to get a USD money order in Bangkok. Some countries provide degree certification by their embassy in Thailand but there are those that do not, namely the USA. When your home country embassy certifies the degree it may be different requirement, I don't know.
