Several posters have stated or implied that Pelosi could not have opened the door because he was holding the hammer. That is what I was responding too. I concur, the affidavit indicates that no one else was present and does not indicate how the door came to be open. Why the "Oh for gods sake" is addressed to me I don't know; I'm sure you have your reasons.

From the affidavit: "Pelosi and DEPAPE were both holding a hammer with one hand " So stay with me here, Paul Pelosi was already holding the hammer with one hand when the door was opened. How was the door opened? Using arithmetic we can conclude that if Mr. Pelosi was holding the hammer with one hand he would consequently have one hand free to open the door. Let me put it this way If a person has 2 hands and one hand is occupied holding a hammer, how many hands does he have free boys and girls? Using our arithmetic notation 2 - 1 = 1 So the answer is one! The person has one hand free! He can use this hand to open the door. I am editing to add that the affidavit does not indicate who opened the door (as another poster has pointed out to me), but the assertion that Pelosi could not have opened the door because he was holding the hammer is not correct.

Thanks. Makes me think of what the Terminator said to the landlord who knocked on his door.

I take 100 mg of Modafinil daily to counter the fatigue from a sleep disorder. I expect that Modafinil requires a prescription in Thailand although I am not sure. Does anyone know about the availability and the cost of this medicine in Thailand. Thanks.

I'm gonna nominate the 1930s and 1940s as way crazier than current times. I bet someone who has studied history thoroughly would have other candidates as well.

Actually a great benefit that I can find in reading ASEAN Now is the fellows who provide a bad example. The ones who allow me to say, "I don't want to act like them". Wise asses, haters, nit-pickers, what have you. A significant number of helpful people here but you can always count on the ones who aren't useless simply because they can serve as a bad example.

Taking the plunge
cdemundo replied to Padthaigoong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
"I know one guy ..." Sorry, but for a person who seems to have something like an obsession about this issue.... I don't consider your "I know one guy..." as an example for proof of your own argument. -
Taking the plunge
cdemundo replied to Padthaigoong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It only requires one example of an individual being prosecuted, deported, fined, beheaded etc. to prove the point you put forward. Not possible to give one example ofno problems to prove that no one has had a problem. So it would seem that the burden of proof lies with those stating that there is a risk associated with using an agent. And it seems there isn't. -
Yes and the nerve of some people wanting their stuff back. All those artistic artifacts, we have those for safe keeping. The former owners can come to our museums and see them anytime. Wow, there's a business idea. Organize tours from Cairo, Athens, Lagos: Come to New York or London to see your nation's priceless cultural artifacts. So yes, point taken.

The baht feels the weight of strengthening US dollar
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I like it. 40 baht to the dollar was the exchange rate when I first visited Thailand, if it gets to that point again I won't complain. I do wonder about: "The sliding baht fell to below 37 to the US dollar, a key psychological barrier, raising speculation that it could further weaken to 40 per dollar." If multiple factors determine the exchange rate, whose psychology is at play in passing a psychological barrier? Not a rhetorical question, I really wonder about this. -
Famous Thai hotel chef in Pattaya dies after falling off his motorbike

Drinking and riding? Not certain but probable if he was coming from a pub. As someone has said already, sober riders rarely fall off the bike. -

"Envious" Pit Bull called Nazi attacks - owner left in a pool of blood
cdemundo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Labradors, Golden Retrievers, and little French Bulldogs appear in the lists of of dogs least likely to bite. Boxers appear in both the lists of dogs most likely to bite and least likely to bite, go figure. There are list published by law firms online but they are probably most concerned with bites that lead to lawsuits. Chihuahuas.bite frequently but probably don't do much damage. You can see videos online of cops and military training their dogs. They create situations where the dog is excited and aggressive and train the dogs to obey under those circumstances. I'm guessing that very few pet owners do that kind of training. So their dog is essentially untrained when that kind of situation arises. -

Lots of big dog owners where I live. They are usually command trained for basic things. The problem seems to be that in situations where the dog becomes aggressive it is a new experience that neither dog nor owner is prepared for, and the owner can't control the dog. The owners then blame others for getting their dog excited. With respect to dogs of all breeds: I used to work for a furnace oil delivery company. Drivers were bitten by dogs fairly frequently. Often owners would say something like "We have had Fido for 12 years and he has never bitten anyone." I believe they were being absolutely truthful. As others have said the dog never bites, until he does. -
Antibiotics after tooth extraction - advice please
cdemundo replied to RickG16's topic in Health and Medicine
Oral infections can happen after oral surgery. I had an infection after a root canal, I had a lot of swelling and pain. I called the dentist and he thought I was making a big thing out of nothing, said just take the antibiotics. Finally I insisted on an appointment and he nearly pooped himself when he saw how bad the swelling was. He referred me to an oral surgeon who said, let's go to the hospital right now. Oral surgeon said my airway was in jeopardy if the bacterial infection accelerated. Had drain inserted that day and was hospitalized with IV antibiotics for 2 or 3 days. This was in the US and luckily I had good insurance. Probably close to worst case scenario but even still... -
Flying the morning after visa expires?
cdemundo replied to Adam219's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I had a one day overstay with no problems on subsequent trips. I don't remember if they stamped my passport. The kiosk IO sent me to a manager, who asked me why I overstayed. I told her I counted wrong, which is true, she just sent me on my way with no scolding or lecture. The whole thing took one or two minutes. -
