Yes, that is correct. I know someone who got refused an extension because they didn't have Covid insurance covering the length of the extension, so they had to to purchase that and then go back the next day.

Notifications on the Gmail app have been broken for a long time. I switched to an App called Aqua Mail. Now my Gmail notifications work perfectly. Notifications on Android in general are hopelessly broken. I can't get selective notification sounds to work reliably no way no how. It may work one time but stop working 10 minutes later. I've tried setting them per app, and also per contact and restart the phone and every other fix I could find by googling it. It just won't work. Same thing on multiple Samsung phones. It's hopeless. I'm about ready to switch to iPhone because of it. Also because Apple gives you OS updates for a lot longer than Samsung does and you can no longer install 3rd party OS images on newer Samsung phones.

A lot of them go to Mexico or Bali or wherever. They have a completely different agenda to guys so Thailand doesn't have the same appeal to them.

Long term means you are not coming and going and if you can't afford 500baht a year or whatever to get out during sonkran you don't belong in Thailand anyways.

It keeps getting better though. A lot of people in the boonies have pretty good internet now and you also often have a 4G option, if not for primary internet then as a backup for outages. I also need good internet and my requirement is a fiber connection, which is getting fairly common even is some out of the way places, or a decent wired connection in addition to decent 4G signal.

Do they have those little stand up electric scooters in Thailand yet? Seems like something that would be popular to rent. They are all over the place in the west. No idea what sort of range they have but they seem to zip along at a pretty good clip. Can go in traffic or on the sidewalk although sidewalks don't really stop people on motor scooters in Thailand.

Meh, it was sometimes too hot and bright near the windows. Also the view wasn't all that great to begin with. I certainly never went there for the view so doesn't bother me that much.

Haven't you heard, alcohol attracts the virus, but apparently only in Asia. They didn't ban it in most western countries and that worked out just fine. I have yet to hear a good explanation what the reasoning for the ban is. Some people have said it's because Asians share glasses/bottles. That doesn't explain why it's banned in western restaurants. So it's still a complete mystery to me what the reasoning for this is.
