Once again, what part of "they want you to have a Thai tax number" did you not understand?

WTF are you talking about? It's a Thai tax number. Not a US SS #. Is English not your first language?

We have a guy who has a cold, and a guy who can't stop lying if his life depended on it, tried to overthrow the country, wants to replace the entire federal workforce with yes men, and is a convicted felon. Tough choice.

Not sure if they want foreign tax numbers but they do want you to have a Thai tax number if you are in Thailand longer than 6 months.

And that's a bad thing? I know American Lawyers working in Thailand. According to them it's not much of a problem. I believe they just have Thai lawyers working for them doing all the legal paperwork.

One thing that sounds like a bit of a loophole to me is ATMs. If you take money out of the ATM from your home country bank, it's not considered repatriated, so not subject to Thai tax. It's only considered repatriated when you transfer money to a Thai bank account. I am assuming it's the same if you use western union or some other cash pickup service. So if you used ATMs or cash pickup as much as possible you can reduce your Thai tax exposure quite a bit.

I liked the idea of living in Thailand up until very recently. Not just because of the tax and visa hassles, but because of the air pollution. That keeps getting worse every year. Now I am looking at the Philippines. The infrastructure and food is not as good, but the air quality is a lot better on average, and no tax/visa hassles.

Most of the time it's not worth it, until it is. That is just how insurance works. There is a fairly well known travelling vlogger that just got diagnosed with a brain tumor. It caused him to suddenly lose the use of one side of his body. Also seems to be having some mental problems. He just got medevac'd back to the UK after weeks in a Sriracha Hospital in ICU, including a brain operation to take a sample. If he didn't have good travel medical insurance paying for it all it probably would have wiped him out financially.

What visas are valid visas? What about a tourist visa?

How would anything change with less than 30 day rentals if the foreign ownership quota increased? I am pretty sure lots of those are thai registered. A lot of condo buildings don't allow less than 30 days anyways.

Serious question. How would this increase competition with hotels? Can people not already rent out Thai registered condos to foreigners?
