That is because they are on the hook to fly you back if you are not allowed in the country and low cost airline is not making much money on the ticket to begin with.
For using the eVisa website yes. However, I may be possible to get it at a Thai consulate/embassy abroad. Perhaps someone can email the one in Phnom Penh or Saigon and ask.
Has anyone figured how how much the extension costs? I've heard 1900 and 10000 which just sounds like people, including people at immigration, repeating other known fees. I'm willing to bet it ends up being somewhere in between.
The website functions because the DTV application is just reusing the tourist visa application. I think the only thing they added was the employment contract section.
Nobody has to worry about it for at least another 360 days so not important right now. Worst case is you have to buy a cheap plane ticket every 180 days instead of every 360 days which is not a big deal.
This thread should be closed because it's nothing but bad info now. The last few posts were littered with incorrect statements or people still asking basic questions that are clearly explained in the official documentation and have been answered a thousand times.
About the ONLY thing that is still up for debate is how much the extension costs and NOBODY will need to worry about that for at least the next 6 months.
I personally can't be bothered trying to play those sorts of games. If I can get away with just living off ATM withdrawals or cash pickups without needed to claim any of that as reportable income I will just do that. It's still not clear to me if that is possible or not or how they could track it even if it was reportable.
It's going to be a gong show for everyone that needs to file a 2024 tax return. I am certainly in no hurry to spend more than 180 days a year in Thailand until this stuff becomes more well understood.
You know that, I know that, they know that, everyone else who has read the explanations knows that. Not sure why you are trying to argue with me about it. Have a nice day.
It says exactly the same thing on the tourist visa so they probably just cut/paste it from that. This point shoot aim stuff is typically how everything works in Thailand. Like the Marijuana laws. Just throw it out there and then figure out the details later.
I expect those applications to skyrocket, as will the cancellations after the visa is issued. The smart thing to do is require a non-refundable deposit.
These are all trolls and trolls get quoted a lot. That is their whole purpose in life. I don't want to have anything to do with any of them, including when others feed them by quoting them. An ignore feature is useless to me unless I can ignore their quotes as well.
The rules for this visa do not say that your soft power or workcation documents need to remain valid for 5 years. The only mention of showing documents again is the bank statement if you extend. Yet another reason to just leave the country and re-enter instead and avoid all that.
Extra virgin anything has a shorter shelf life yes. That is the tradeoff. I can still cook with extra virgin olive oil up to 400F with no smoke which is the highest setting on my air fryer. Frying pan and stir fry is probably too hot unless you try keep the heat down so better to use refined olive oil for that.
I thought it was pretty nice when I went there last year. Only went for a day trip but I plan to spend a few nights there this year. Beach is underrated imo so no idea what you are going on about. Probably little or night life to speak of but I am not interested in that anyways.
