Chaeng Watthana Retirement Extension trip
lopburi3 replied to ThailandRyan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
In my experience it was not required prior to 2019 - but in May 2019 I had to have owner make TM30 report (with 800 baht fine as was about 20 years late) and there were dozens making reports at 4 desks set up for that only - and in June 2019 the copy was required for retirement extension of stay and a copy of that report has been made each year since. I do not have a lease so that might be a deciding factor on it being required (as married). -
30 min before breakfast for me using Vejthani Hospital. Have been using for about a decade as Thyroid is mostly removed and remaining not working.

Details For Heart (teaching?) hospital in Bangkok
lopburi3 replied to dsfbrit's topic in Health and Medicine
I would go with the bus/taxi myself - taxi is easy to get and not expensive in Bangkok (although often issues from airport). If you had abscess surprised they operated as normally they cure that first as they tend to draw the pain killer and none gets to the nerve otherwise. Been there and it is not pleasant at all. For me it is not just hospitals - any outside activity seems to increase BP. If you feel like it an update after doctor visit might be helpful to other readers. Good luck. -
OP seems to be misinformed regarding hospitals in Thailand. I have never seen any better private hospital here without emergency room service - most have a fleet of ambulances and cardiac care units. And it is sure good to have insurance if/when such care is needed. Public hospitals are not free for foreigners - much cheaper than private normally but there can be more trade offs than just physical settings. In my case a cancer operation 5 years ago would have only been about 100k at a public hospital rather than the 1 million I paid at a private facility. The deciding issue was wait time - I would likely not be here without the private option that insurance allowed. I understand many of us older folks do not have many options for insurance if not already have when younger - but for anyone at a reasonable age highly urge you to have and keep current (foreign sourced insurance that will cover living in other countries). You can never depend on being able to medevac and most of us with families would not want to do it even if we could.

And that may be the issue - but would be nice if they can confirm. That so many Thailand residents have moved accounts to Bangkok Bank to avail themselves of the FTT passbook entry that they ran out of money in that account could be the reason. It seems those of us who transferred early in the month did get normal path.

When doing a 1 year extention
lopburi3 replied to david2923's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can apply up to expiration date - no need to do 30 days early - you are legal during the 30 day under consideration process. As for what is needed it varies a bit by office but seems to be for marriage so wife and her details, photos together in home with house number shown, marriage certificate and current paperwork from District Office to prove still valid will surely be required. -
Send GBP - almost never a good idea to send baht from overseas - also remember the exchange rate will be what the Thai bank says for the date - not what Wise would have used - so it may be a bit more than 42 pounds more expensive - also there will be a fee in baht of couple hundred baht at Thai end. Would be much better if we can get immigration to accept Wise PDF along with deposit proof than return to the days of SWIFT.

But that could be white coat (especially having a RCT). My BP in hospital is normally in the 160 range but at home between 95-105 and there seem to be a lot of us with very large increase outside home (more than the 20-30 points normally mentioned). I went so far as to buy two Omrom meters before I could believe readings at home could be that much lower - and have checked against hospital readings also. Sorry I missed the "I have Afib" in your OP so highly advise you make appointment with doctor Sheryl mentioned and cost should be reasonable even considering the travel to Bangkok required. Take your meter with you to check it and if you have record of testing type it up. -
They do not seem to understand we are not asking for FET forms - there has been a change and long stay in Thailand is not resulting in payment by the destination bank anymore - nothing to do with Wise issuing anything - Bangkok Bank is the source of the international transfer FTT at that bank if payment is made from Wise account at that bank. They are now paying from another Thai bank account so it is registered as domestic.

The issue is not so much a hospital but a doctor - there are good and bad at the best facilities. Also your financials can be a major factor as to which facility might be best and same doctors might be available at several locations. Sorry I can not be more specific as have only had stents myself. But I would take your BP monitor to a hospital and compare readings as a first step. -
Never has unless payment made by same bank - you must select the last reason for transfer 'long stay in Thailand' during transfer process - which for last 2 years has worked until this week - seems something happening currently to prevent. You can download Wise transfer document which may be accepted or you can obtain credit advise printout (as above) from bank making payment if proof required. Normally just selecting the last reason for transfer will result to payment by Bangkok Bank if that is your account and FTT (foreign transfer) notation.

One year statement of account can only be provided by Bangkok Bank Hqs so you ask at your local branch for 12 month statement about 2 weeks before needing as it can take a week to obtain. It will be a computer print out of every transaction and can also be used when passbook in not kept up to date. Still get the account ownership letter at CW Bangkok Bank on day of extension. I have never been asked for any credit advice but all deposits have been marked as international on statement of account and passbook.
