  1. Perhaps the fact that money may be transferred to Thai accounts set up at a cost of only a few hundred baht by often unknowing workers for many international scammers currently has something to do with it? Many of the Indian scammers working USA are using Thailand for money deposit/transfer currently. But yes scammers are often not in the country targeted.
  2. Unfortunately they severely cut the air flow if you cover all the intake area - keep enough open to allow the air conditioner to operate. But in the air conditions of Thailand mainland believe best to buy an actual air cleaner.
  3. Price of imported, and even many Thai items, have been increasing almost monthly. The baht has nosedived several times and although often recovers quickly costs remain based on that low exchange rate for an extended period of time (due long lead shipment times as well as greed). Things cost more today than yesterday. Inflation is real. We get spoiled by the low costs of housing/hotels and transportation here and often expect it to apply to everything I fear. I buy mostly from Tops but same issue of increasing prices on just about everything in last year. But with online system you know the current price when you order.
  4. I suspect they are trying to fix the 15 days in advance which reminders were sent to be a date within the reporting period and this has gone amuck. A lot of people were getting reminder and trying to report immediately but computer would not allow reporting until the next day.
  5. Yes and also remember the 60's before taxis were allowed on Don Muang AFB. You bargained with a person driving non taxi plate vehicle with base sticker for transportation. And played tag with police trying to stop these drivers as they raced to your hotel.
  6. That time frame is specific to Bangkok Bank. Some can issue on demand. And bank statement is not normally required to be same day by immigration. Passbook update and letter of account ownership/balance can be however.
  7. Unless clearly marked HEPA filters need to be changed as water destroys the filter material making it much less effective (no longer HEPA). So that availability and cost should be part of purchase planning. But in general filters do last quite a while.
  8. No. The O-A is a pre approved one year stay for retirement entry. The O visa only allows 90 day entry and can be issued for many reasons in either single 90 day stay or multi entry (valid for one year from date of issue) any number of stays up to 90 days each.
  9. As said multi entry works fine until you get tired of the travel requirement (would have been difficult during covid times). The one possible downside is if 400k increased in the future you would not be grandfathered (if offered to extension holders).
  10. As long as done by experienced doctor it should not be much pain (but if have to fill bladder you will know it). If done by an intern, as a Thai government hospital did on me, it can be extremally painful. But if no cancer or get advance warning well worth the short term pain. At any rate things are sounding a lot better. Good luck.
  11. Notifications have been hit or miss for more than a month and often after you actually have done the report. Do not depend on notifications.
  12. Believe he said letter - not statement. Not the same thing. Letters of account ownership/balance can be provided in minutes.
  13. If you are talking bank letter of account ownership/balance it must be same day in Bangkok - but varies upcountry..
  14. Actually there is a rule - for renewal funds must have remained at 800k or more for 3 months after last extension, and at or above 800k 2 months prior to new application and never go below 400k. But we do not seem to know status of OP.
  15. Guess you right by that - no harm/no foul in any case - if not accepted just do next day again.
  16. Believe it is 4th first day. It is 14 days early AFAIK. They used to send notification out 15 days early and you could not report.
  17. I tried several others (name brands) and found Standard better so can not help with that.
  18. Might just be loose bolts or missing rubber pads? Expect local air/ref shop worker might be able to fix if no guarantee issues. Did you let it stand a day before using after Lazada delivery (never know if they may have put on side)?
  19. Actually is was broken in that reminder was sent, people tried to report but it was before you could report making many people post here about it. Expect they have been trying to fix that.
  20. Have not had any such noise issues with the 3 units I have owned over the years (with current hot temps expect compressor running a lot - although do not hear mine in un airconditioned room). The lukewarm issue is likely first ounce or so that is in line from cooler to tap - if you dump that and take another cup expect will be cold as you like. But if just one person a bottle or two in refrigerator to drink out of might be cost effective.
  21. No it was on north side at start of Huay Kaew Road not far from Chiang Mai Ram Hospital. Not there anymore - as said at least 15 years ago when used to stay at Pang Suan Kaew Hotel.
  22. Indeed Chiang Rai village likely not the same. But do remember 15 years ago clinic doctor in Chiang Mai recorded all medications when wife visited during a trip there - but clinic was actually recommended over hospital so suspect a good doctor.
  23. Even dentist will often ask for full drug list before giving treatment - doctors always in my experience of 30 years continuous living here.
  24. If from non immigrant O visa entry no requirement - if from O-A entry visa the same insurance requirement as O-A requires. You need to be decide if going to use private hospitals or government facilities for cost. Private will likely be high anywhere - but even government facilities may adopt a dual pricing system in the future (it allowed now). So the old as much as your can afford is valid. One thing is out patient care would be very costly from insurance so more cost effective to have good inpatient policy and nest egg for normal drugs/outpatient treatment.
  25. You mean cancer extended to margin (edge) after removal? Normal surgery would be to cut wide margins on anything suspect of being cancer from my understanding. Guess they did not even suspect cancer if that was not done (although could just have been more spread out than it appeared - but so far in many skin operations have never had unclear margins myself).
