Hospital Bill Paying via a Wise Transfer

That is a default setting - you can change it. I use cards rather than phone apps so was not aware of that. -
Hospital Bill Paying via a Wise Transfer

You do not mention procedure but normally hospitals provide a high ball amount for estimates in our experience. And in event not have enough funds available and not accept CC they would most likely be fine going with you to a bank branch to obtain if you have no ATM card. -

If talking about Wise to Thailand you are free to make as many transfers as you wish - you do not save making large transfers with Wise so not much lost other than your time. -

You can take cash early and get receipt - multi times if you want. And with ATM card you can both pay and obtain cash at same time well over 50k (I normally pull 50k from ATM (for use at home) before paying bill for 30-40k with card). -
Hospital Bill Paying via a Wise Transfer

Why not just transfer to your bank account and make a local transfer (or better yet visit hospital and pay in cash)? I always pay in cash for advance payments - that way you get an immediate receipt for payment and if funds not used can immediately get refund in cash. -
As someone who made tungsten filaments for Sylvania for several years in USA would never equate them with natural light. But as to blowout have had happen several times in my 80 years; so yes it can happen. And have had issues with lamps made in India. As for Phillips they make almost nothing but medical supplies anymore - even there lights marked Phillips are made by Signify N.V., a spin off established 7 years ago.

The new MRI at Vejthani is feet first for both upper and lower abdominal scans and larger than previous model but your head is still inside unit a bit. Not sure if there are any open MRI machines in Thailand but believe there may be. CT scan would be fast and likely not cause issues (for most people) but then you have radiation that may not be justified (as nothing indicates a need for such a scan apparently). Edit: for heart suspect you head will be in MRI machine in any case,

Vinyl over Ceramic Tiles?
lopburi3 replied to aldriglikvid's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
And if you read the 7 reasons why link - they all say the same thing - cheaper. Suspect this is true in EU but not so much here. Vinyl is the choice - for tin roof homes - here. -
She does not have a visa - she has a one year extension of stay from a non immigrant O conversion (if all done in Thailand). She can not leave Thailand without a re-entry permit (maybe she obtained multi entry type at time of extension?). Indeed with a re-entry permit the extension of stay date will not change.
-
Most Consulates will only issue non immigrant O-A visa to those wanting to retire. This has a medical requirement and any extension of stay will require proof of medical insurance. If not too old and he can obtain proper insurance fine. If insurance an issue alternative is non immigrant O visa or change from tourist visa/visa exempt entry to a 90 day non immigrant O entry and then do the one year extension (all at immigration inside Thailand).
-
The O-A is normally issued for retirement. This allows a one year stay from entry date. If multi entry it allows exit/returns up to that original entry one year permitted to stay date (date does not change). It also has medical insurance requirements. https://www.mfa.go.th/en/page/non-immigrant-visa-o-a?menu=5e1ff71bc4281a00c812e8e2

Never said they did not exist ???? - had one myself in the 70's (as did many of the hourly motels). But that was then - this is now. And now almost unheard of. Thai do not have windows to accept such so that one advantage is lost as will almost always require cutting hole in a wall to install and then an iron cage to protect. Much easier to do it right with split system.
-
As said check Lazada/Shopee for units under 20k. Narrow size is important for use in home so check that. We got one at about 15k which now about 17-18k but seldom used as patient walking ability returned with medication but does appear to be fine - have not used enough to recommend. If legs lost perhaps a simple chair version without foot rests would be best and more compact, but as said no expert.
-
Are you claiming to see window air conditioners here in Thailand? Almost none for last 30 years so expect older units. Split system is far better, quiet, more efficient (hot air totally outside). Even in the Philippines most new units are split (and they are the USA overseas central). In USA they do make more sense as not used all year and easy/cheap to install/replace. Not a major factor here where install is not expensive for split units and most know how to do it.

Actually have not found that to be the case (except the lousy search engine). When make the switch to Chinese ownership many Chinese items were overpriced (on Aliexpress for less) but have not seen that recently. Price is good on both Chinese and local goods. Shipping is merchant and sometimes seems to be designed to provide low price advantage - but mostly appear to be sellers inside Thailand - shipping costs from China almost free. But for me a major factor is ability to use foreign debit/credit cards for payment. Shopee used to allow local bank transfers but removed that a few months ago and lost this long term customer. As for the Lazada search engine use Google to search item and then click on Lazada link seems to work quite well for many things. That said Lazada has major issues with sellers posting under multi names same items at 2 or 3 times fair price in hope search will only show their high priced items (which sometimes happens). You have to be careful and Google search seems to help.

The 90 day report is designed to keep track of your location while in Thailand - if you fail to report and are found out you will be fined as you are overdue for report. If you stay longer than 90 days and then exit/return you are not overdue for report for 90 days after return so no fine. It is not designed to be a punishment thing - it is an old requirement of immigration to help track visitors (often to help respond to foreign embassy requests).

Air Coolers, does it work ?(the one where you add water and ice)
lopburi3 replied to renegade2000's topic in General Topics
But as a renter you have a choice - make that known to those you rent from. There is no shortage of rental property in Thailand. -

As said not something most would want inside a home here in humid Thailand. They would greatly increase the already high humidity and damage property and likely your well being. Outside they do work better as you can feel the cooler air flow without increasing average humidity much. -
Dhaka, New Delhi, Vientiane, Angeles City, Conakry, Beirut were some of the 2 or more year garden spots. Back to refrigerators - our 22 year old Samsung with local replacement compressor is not making it during last week of 37c weather so have just ordered very popular and good priced Samsung RT50K (about 18cf) to replace it (bending down to below freezer is no longer a pleasant task). This seems to be built for SEA market and a top seller so if any parts needed they should be available. Note that now have 20 year warranty on compressors.

That strange as have had no problem using either credit or debit card until this week - and note they have disclaimer that not accepted on website so assumed was a new thing. Have resorted to paying in cash last several delivers and provides bit extra for MC driver this way. They made switch to Lalamove from Grab and at least normally get address right now (before luckily if even correct mooban and would have to call for directions). Not sure if MC drivers would have card reader.
