  1. As all have, and will say, R I P to a major contributor to forum and peoples stays in Thailand - his postings have undoubtedly helped many of us here.
  2. OK that will at least make more comfortable at temple but the 130mm between hinges was my concern - I need a lot more than that.
  3. Can you share a link? Never found any like that myself. Had to search for the small minority that even mentioned size for something wide enough.
  4. Did you allow for your head size? Most frames are for smaller I have found.
  5. Even back in the 70's US Embassy tested tap water in central Bangkok as safe to drink when drawn from mains - and better than the current bottled water available. Both have improved greatly since then. But with local storage can come local issues so many, if not most, prefer to use additional filtration at point of use if drinking tap water.
  6. To remove minerals you need RO filter (and be aware that some are sold with an extra filter to add minerals for those that believe they need. A 5 stage RO filter system will cost about 3,000 baht in basic model. If really RO filter TDS will be much reduced (about 10 times) but make sure you did not mix up flow and drain lines. That photo does not appear to be RO (although made to look like one).
  7. But this thread is about reading glasses - not normal distance vision. This could be used - or just take some small print with you and try different glasses. https://www.readers.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Rea-Updated-DiopterChart-1.pdf
  8. Paying by card is not always an option for expats - Shopee will not accept foreign cards at all (and recently removed local bank transfer option).
  9. The merchant would ask for a bank transfer or other such payment direct to them (a bank account which could be anyone) - making it sound like you are getting a deal as they will not have to pay commission to Lazada. Logical. But also likely it will be a scam and you receive nothing or defective product.
  10. If you cancel order refund is automatic to card used. That warning would be from Lazada and is automatic when amounts/payments are mentioned in chat - if you pay offline Lazada can not obtain a refund. Some merchants will get you on chat and offer a lower price - once you pay you have no recourse if you receive nothing or trash.
  11. A legal record of payment? Easy return of purchase price. Not being dependent on having exact change (or driver having). Knowing any COD request is a scam. That said some prefer the COD route and that can be fine for them. One suit does not fit all.
  12. Normally they are on turnable display racks in department/Lotus's type stores or spread out on street. If you know what you want they are also all over Shopee/Lazada.
  13. I always preferred using the train when visiting/working in Udorn (Udon). Night berth 2nd class was always very comfortable. But from post perhaps you are concerned about connections (you did not mention age) so this might not be an option.
  14. Those are the upcountry tourist defy gravity machines - not Bangkok bus service.
  15. Thailand was never a British Colony? Have you ever ridden a 2 deck bus upcountry (they do have them)? Terrifying as you corner! But in Bangkok suspect electric/phone service would be first victim and many walkovers/elevated trains would have to be even higher. Don't even suggest it. ????
  16. Another thing to take into account is make sure joints are glued properly - as you intend to install a pump later that pressure will likely be more than source and you don't want to have to re-do plumbing again at that time. Many here have a tendency to guess on pipe length and then only half install joints when a bit short.
  17. But then again if replacing pipe in any case perhaps the cost difference would not be that much? I used 3/4 when replaced pipes but also have pump suppling 3.5 to 4 bar pressure - expect at normal lower pressures here 1 inch would have been a much better choice (although probably not find many Thai using).
  18. I did read it and that is why I posted. Use normal water for daily use but have additional supply for outage seemed to be your goal and that was what I posted. Without a pump you are not going to have any usable water pressure to any house taps from a ground level tank so KISS principle seems to be best option.
  19. In that case just install a branch feed to the tank with normal float valve for now and have tap near bottom of tank (or just get upcountry clay pot with cover and use for rainwater collection?). Tank is not going to supply usable water flow to house taps so no need to hook up. Just use outside tap/bucket until you can get a pump.
  20. It will depend on insurance and hospital - indeed for a year or so I was able to get direct payment to Bangkok Hospital in and out - then they did not accept at all - then only for in (now I believe).
  21. In my case using FEP Blue Cross of USA only inpatient would be direct paid at selected hospitals (100%). Or could pay first and obtain 100% payment later at any hospital. But for outpatient max payment would be 85% (often a bit less due to deductibles) and would have to pay first.
  22. They do not care how it shows up - they are just asking for proof it was sent/link to you. If sent by SWIFT that paperwork would work. If use Wise you can download paperwork showing local bank transfer information to their account. But direct payment with cashiers check/cash would provide immediate confirmation/receipt and avoid any banking issues.
  23. OK so your app should work before operation so if want to wait just put that amount into hospital account same day - or visit early and do so nothing to worry about on day of operation. You should be able to use app or cash or cashier check.
  24. Yes but if what most of us have, cataract/iol, only one eye should be done and cost should not be much over 100k, if that. At any rate you can pay with cash over several visits if you do not want to carry it all at one time. But avoid phone apps so can not answer you query on using after changing your appearance.
  25. That is a default setting - you can change it. I use cards rather than phone apps so was not aware of that.
