  1. Be pro active with that as could be serious (was for me) - perhaps ultrasound to examine bladder. Mine was also after exercise but caused by cancer in bladder (which with earlier detection might have saved me the bladder etc).
  2. All of which reduce chance or getting and greatly reduce chance of severe issues. If you have believe government wants you to double mask when going out.
  3. I suspect misunderstanding - Thai do not need medical insurance as government provides and cost would be excessive at older age (price does increase greatly). Life insurance is also not common but local death insurance in amounts to cover funeral expense is common and often a village type system. What is more common is that a family member will take physical care of elderly.
  4. I suspect there were stones that gave doctor a concern for the future but OP was happy with the no cancer and did not remember that? OP also did not say if there may have been reasons for the lower abdomen exam or the relief with no cancer found. But so far poster has not replied to such questions (which may because it was awhile ago and memory/reports not fresh/available.
  5. Wife had removed laparoscopic surgery 3 years ago at age 79 (they mentioned cut off at age 80). Cost was 200k at major Bangkok hospital and entered at 0820 and departed at 1220 next day (one night in ICU). No post op issues but was having pain prior to operation.
  6. Have no used Opera for years but in Chrome the tab itself if you have mail open will indicate the number of unread messages without any notifications required. I keep mail as my first open tab and just glance at that header to see if anything in queue.
  7. They have a 55 year history as an independent eye clinic/hospital in Bangkok (I first used 45 years ago). Major hospitals these days also have good doctors and facilities but Rutnin remains a top choice and appears to have more patients each day than most hospitals will have in a week - it can be busy - but you do not feel pushed.
  8. That sound good - as much as I hate bubble wrap removal it should do the job if company packs for you.
  9. Sure seems they offer popup on browser from below - or are you talking phone?
  10. I would not even attempt without original shipping box. If normal TV perhaps better to sell or give away and get new at destination - or put in back of taxi and make the trip. Is this a one off only item? If other items (moving) suspect truck drivers could provide cardboard to protect for the trip.
  11. Believe most hospitals have ability to check pressure - such computer equipment is basic. What many will not have is CVFT (for glaucoma check and have to refer you to major eye hospitals). As far as opticians they fit glasses only - they do not do any testing - that would be an optometrist (and this is a new field in Thailand with huge shortage). In Thailand eye checks are almost always done by doctors (ophthalmologists).
  12. Suspect if you have treatment for pressure there may be other issues that doctor wants to check - although probably be OK for six month rather than four. As IOP is basic check/along with eye chart/computer prior to seeing doctor at any hospital would look for a good ophthalmologist as total cost will likely be less than 2k (plus medications which you can buy elsewhere if private hospital).
  13. They started about 3 years ago when they had the push to require proof of TM30 reporting, and collected fines if late. Next year or two they removed and made copies from passport - this year I included copies and they kept them. Edit: this is on retirement extension - live with wife but no TM30 was ever submitted and changed from wife to retirement about a decade ago. Needless to say home owner had fine to pay.
  14. TM47 has been scrapped? 90 day reports are still very much required although you may do it online and get a receipt to print out. In June a copy of this was required as well as TM30 receipt for retirement extension at CW. As for appointment believe if you read the instructions you are told to present a print out when reporting for scheduled appointment. In my June experience desk was accepting next in general queue unless you presented such paper in advance of appointment time.
  15. I was not talking home internet - this would be a hotel with repeaters and as stated very fast WiFi internet service - two years of no or few customers takes its toll. Keeping equipment working as well as cost to provider would be hard to justify with no users. Obviously they should be getting now if actually open for business but a lot are deep in the red at this point.
  16. Obviously a lot more to do in Saigon and easy access - but if cost is major factor the Savannakhet run should be fine. And the payment only in USD was an issue for some as believe only about two places to change money from reports several years ago and with the baht issues now may be even more of an issue. Edit: HCMC it is - make sure to take care of USD as believe some had last minute issues in the past with that requirement.
  17. As said the ME visa was only available in Savannakhet and air route was extra day or two stay so most used bus to border and cross on bus and return. As this path had been closed for several years do not know current status of hotels.
  18. Do you really believe that? Guess you do not notice all the farm chemicals advertised on TV? They are being used.
  19. In the Year 2525 - and newest twist seems to require you have video opening to even make a claim (per venders information). That may or may not be true - but it is being allowed on product information pages.
  20. We bought these 5 years ago and still feel fine. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/sb-design-square-lotus-lotus-35-2topper-companion-i-107x198x5-i3064747857-s11224668150.html
  21. Internet is not cheap if nobody needs it and you are going into debt. Most Thai now use phones for internet access (and viewing). That way they do not have to be cellar dwellers to be avid trollers.
  22. No customers to pay the bills? Many/most hotels have be closed for more than 2 years here. And those that have operated were doing on a shoestring. Some are getting customers now but mostly at low domestic rates and plane loads of tourists will take time to return to anything like before.
  23. It seems the (3 April) referred to OOB in London on 3 April rather than 3 April in Thailand. They do seem to be international date/time challenged at times.
  24. But you do not need a smartphone for the internet - in fact was using packet switching before the internet was born. But agree smartphone is a valuable asset for many things - but obviously many take it a few steps beyond.
  25. If go back still remember GE Porta-Mobile hand held VHF with selcal to get our attention. Not really compact.
