The Issan situation is so revealing of the flawed Thai thinking. Vaccinating Bangkok and shifting the infections to the Provinces is a sad stupidity. Containing the epidemic at the country level would have required a stringent lockdown of the deep read provinces, country wide vaccination by risk group, allowing travel only for fully vaccinated people and medical emergencies. Maybe it wasn't flawed thinking, just utter contempt of the Bangkokians for the Provinces and their cheap labor.

This is very pertinent, even more so for those who come here to settle with a Thai wife, as no insurance is needed when you get extensions for supporting a Thai. That's funny, I'd expect any immigration police to have a list of security threats. Back in 1983 my wife was working of such a database when she was working for at the Australian immigration Belconnen office. Mosts of her "clients" were purported Arab extremists, things haven't changed much, isn't.. So why is Thai immigration so shy about carrying out their duty? Maybe they don't want to be ridiculed doing actual work.
