  1. They are expats on Non-immigrant visas that meet the financial requirements to obtain permission of stay. It's a facile and pointless comparison.
  2. The link to the UK Gov immigration website that I posted earlier suggests otherwise.
  3. I think the voters will at this election. British people have had enough, and rightly so.
  4. Where do you deport someone to if they don't have a passport or any records?
  5. The total amount spent on hotels and support for asylum seekers ballooned to £5.4bn in 2023-24 https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/asylum-seekers-hotel-overspend-treasury-2931907?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4MSzBhC8ARIsAPFOuyVvJJBgB1Bf3iHnJJMkl5uQ7KA5ocrpLjRkSVL9m7nNf_ZZs6f1dygaApgFEALw_wcB
  6. No there isn't. Illegal immigrants arrive on small boats and then claim asylum. More than 60% of these are bogus claims and get refused. See link above.
  7. They should be in a suitable accommodation block, not in hotels paid for by the UK taxpayer. If you claim asylum in Thailand, you are detained while the case is processed. Over 40 Uyghur asylum seekers have been in immigration detention for well over a decade.
  8. In 2022, there were 3,860 enforced returns. An incredibly small number. If you look at the trends, fewer illegals are being detained and deported while many more are arriving. It's not sustainable. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-march-2023/how-many-people-are-detained-or-returned
  9. Illegal immigrants that 'claim asylum' do.
  10. They claim asylum and are given government support including accommodation and benefits.
  11. None of them migrants either.
  12. There has been no mass-immigration from Myanmar. There was, and to some extent still is, a large, semi-legal workforce from the surrounding poorer countries working in Thailand. Very few of whom will be allowed to remain in Thailand permanently, and fewer still that will become Thai citizens. You need to start getting your facts right before making ill-informed comparisons with Thailand.
  13. They are on non-immigrant visas so not migrants. To get those visas, there are income requirements. For most, there is absolutely no path to even permanent residency, let alone citizenship. Ironic you compare to Thailand, which has some of the strictest immigration laws in the World. If you get caught here illegally, you go to the Immigration Detention Centre and don't get out, under any circumstances, until you are deported.
  14. "Stop your vehicle!. This is the Police, we have an arrest warrant for Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra". "Sorry, there must be some mistake, I am Mr. Takki Shinegra, a proud Montenegrin citizen, on my way to the airport to visit my sister overseas in Dubai". "Sorry for the mistaken identity, and thank you for this wonderful cake. Have a good flight". 🛩️
  15. The head and neck tattoos suggest the guy has mental health issues.
  16. I had a Thai woman aggressively pull out to do an u-turn in front of me and then hit me from the far left lane when I passed. She lied and said the incident was my fault. Luckily, video evidence from both vehicles supported my version of events and her insurance paid out.
  17. He started naming names to protect himself. A grenade was thrown into the reception of his Davis Hotel on Soi 24 iirc. More of a threat than an actual assassination attempt. Odd romanticism and revisionist history on this thread about him, though.
  18. In his day, he was a corrupt pimp. His demolition of the Soi 10 bar area without warning cost many hundreds of people, both Thai and foreign, their livelihoods. His anti-corruption campaigns and exposés were about self-preservation rather than 'doing the right thing'.
  19. Why do so many Thais with money send their kids to the US, UK, and Australia for education then?
  20. Indeed. No ability to wash general's cars or carry groceries.
  21. To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
  22. The Chinese, a great bunch of lads.
  23. I know who I believe, and it's not the moto rider. I have, you are still a total cowardly scumbag of a man-child for assaulting a woman.
