Report French National Arrested in Phuket for Illegal Tour Guide Work
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
You are right, but protectionism can and will be destroying progress... There is no need to protect guides only for Thais.. Thais are very poor in many languages and it could be solved to open guides for everybody, with the rule that a Thai should be with them, only for help of the foreign guide.. for example to order foods, contact with other Thais... It would be a win-win... And I agree that land is a different item.. Thailand is free to choose to give only Thais the opportunity to buy and have land nothing wrong with that..But on the other hand all businesses must be for 51% in hands of Thai which is ridiculous.. If I want to make a business in Thailand, and I have to invest 100 million THB for example, than I have the minority of shares in my own company and of my money... I know there are ways to prevent this, but in fact it will keep investors away.. We don't live in the 19 and 20th century anymore.. Thailand must be open and it will bring prosperity for everyone, but it keep the old laws without updating them -

It is impossible in THakiland as being a guide is a protected job only for Thai people.. The EU doesn't have such protected jobs.. Indeed there a Thai can work as a guide if he has the correct visa, but In Thailand being a guide is only for Thais.. All jobs should be open for everybody, and no protection anymore as we don't live in 19/20 century anymore... but as long Thailand is only for Thais, things will go down and down.. -

Nice to read these stories , as Thailand is urging EU people to come to Thailand.. Many French people don't like to speak or are able to understand English, as France is the same as Thailand.. People who com on holiday in France should learn some French, is the attitude.. THailand with its outdated laws of labour protection doesn't understand that a very very few Thais are maybe able to speak French, and French are not allowed to translate as guides are protected as a Thai occupation... only solution is that Thailand is updating old laws, to make it attractive for foreigners to come on holiday and know the Thai culture, food and habits instead of complainimng that foreigners don't understand these things.. No wonder nobody can explain them as nobody is allowed to talk in fact another language as a Thai guide can.. -

Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash

Of course .... THailand is never doing anything wrong.. but fees for Thai 40 for adults and kids 20 THB and for foreigners 600 and 150 THB is a bit difference....but happily I am stupid enough that I don't understand why tourists will not come -

In the west you don't hear music that is so loud that a DB meter will show 100 DB in my house because somebody more than 1 km away is having a party.. Never heard about the eardrum damages that such a loud music will give. No wonder that people start to scream more when they are talking... They are all starting to be deaf already at young ages -

I think you misunderstand me... I don't talk about myself I just talk in general.. We went to Malaysia for holiday and the immigration officer was very smiling and welcoming that I did not know what I had to say in fact.. Here in Thailand they just check your passport take a pic and hardly say anything to you. For me 90 days is no problem but i general what is the purpose of doing it?? With a re entry you come back to your house and have to do the 90 day report and address notification.. Why must we start again with the Tdac or former TM 7 card?? I come already 20 years at the immigration office, never smiling, for my 90 days, although i brought several times a box of cookies or cake for them, unfortunatelly it is not allowed anymore and with the grumpy officers I am happy too. And for alcohol I don't have that problem too.. But in general if I go on holiday and I want a beer at 15.00 I can buy it..And here even this website I am often told that it should be better if I leave the country... I don't care that they say it to me, but my opinion is just always general nothing personal, and I think for the better of the country and the people. In my neighbourhood no problems with me always friendly and helpful and I can imagine that in tourists places there are more problems than in the rural area where I live.. But still Thailand have to improve several things and not hold to the conservatism that is now even getting worse, with the idea that all foreigners are unreliable untill proven different. That will bring down the tourist sector, and with less income the people get grumpier and will attrack less customers, and so on... and it goes down. Read how many times there are headlines in the news about what foreigners did wrong or a crackdown, while Thai people are in the majority and do the same and even more, but that is kept out of the news.. Just as 2 weeks a go a group is set up for foreigners with mental health problems.. and than read the news.. why not set up group for Thai with mental health as there many more who need that.. simple example.. the sound pollution all over the country in temples, parties, concerts or shopping malls... Noise is used as torture sometimes, but here is no escape of it...I don't care but just in general, when I speak with the locals here about the past week, there was a 3 day concert at a shopping mall, than 2 days no noise and than 3 days party for monk ordination from Samut Songkram in a temple 1 km away.. People complain, but nobody dare to take action and the police doesn't do anything..But if I would do it believe me it would be a headline.... and for xenophobia read the post of Cabradelmar on this page -
If I see the pics it seems that even men have to wear a Tshirt just like the netizens, who are afraid of being tanned.. So tourists come to Thailand, pay an entrance( which is coming), fill in forms, get double pricing, cvan't have a beer between 14.00 and 17.00 and now you can't swim without a T shirt, and maybe even a bikini is too much nudity..

Yeah you are right... but where to go when the shopping malls are closed?? double pricing everywhere.. and not a bit more than for Thais but 5 to 10 times higher..( example entrance fees national parks.. ) Surely when you live in a touristic place is worse than somewhere in the countryside, but it is still a trend that Thailand only looks for the money as you wrote too.. Thais make less money than foreigners... but that is not totally correct. Foreigners mostly have a normal income which is enough in their country, but because of tghe cheaper prices here they can buy more and they seem to be more wealthy.. examples buy a package of cigarettes in Europe and here.. or go out for lunch compared to here.. But Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, are cheap too, and more welcoming than Thailand -

16-20 year old are given the money.. Why not the people who really could contribute to the economy as the 25-59 people?? They have probably kids going to schools, no work because of the many holidays and salary raises, and they are the last in the row.. But kids who in fact don't need it, are in the front row... -

Travel Rising Prices, Broken Systems Dim Thailand’s Tourist Charm
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The story is right.. Only read the stories about the netizens how they complain about foreigners, the no available infrastructure as public toilets, and safety travel options.. the double pricing, the paperwork for visa and extensions, 90 days and address notifications and name it. The justice that several times ruled only in favor of the netizens with a reason as a farang has more money so he can pay more, the unfriendly immigration at the airport, the alcohol sales and buying hours, the expensive THB and many many more. People will say oh it is only a bit but the toal package makes Thailand an unwelcoming destination, supported by the government with Anutin who declared several times already that he don't like the foreigners.. And reading here on Aseannow, we can read many times, that the netizens rather want to get rid of us, as they see us as a thread to destroy the Thai culture....Sadly enough they don't see what they are doing wrong and that other Asean countries are happy to welcome the tourists now- 196 replies

How can you expect that people respect the Thai people and culture if Thailand is constantly attacking foreigners on all kind of behaviors and doings which Thai are doing the same.. Besides that Thailand is soo very conservative and brainwashed that everything that is not according to their thoughts is wrong and will be condemned.. An easy example is if a foreigner is peeing somewhere because of lack of toilets , Thai people jump up.. but drive on a highway and see how many Thai truckdriver are doing the same , but that is ok.. If you want a tourist destination you should be openminded and accept that different people will not follow always the very conservative ideas the Thai have..If you wnat to preserve the Thai culture, close the borders and no more tourists in, would that be better??

Report Quick-Thinking Cops Praised for Swift Clean-Up After Phuket Car Crash
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
I think the people would praise the RTP much more if just were doing their job every day, examples.. blacksmoke cars, helmet wearing on motorcycles for safety, speeding tickets , alcohol tests, instead chasing vapers, tourists, and just like here incidentally cleaning the road... -
Nudism is normal in many countries.. Here in Thailand however they are very conservative and they shame for seeing someone nude.. However we were all born nude and there are only 2 kinds.. men and women.. FKK is in Germany normal and several EU countries have beaches and places were naturists and nudists can be themselves.. Instead of talking about scandals, Thailand should open beaches for nudists and naturists too.. All about tourism, but only Queeen Victoria style.. Even swimming in Tshirts and shorts, as bikini and swimmingslip can be annoying.. But on the other hand Thailand is full of sex.. How do they do that.... with all clothes on??
