Thailand Steps Up Enforcement on Illegal Foreign Teachers
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
My partner came to my country and had to learn Dutch.. However my partner only could speak Thai, not English or another language.. But after a few months he could speak read and write Dutch, much more even than Thai students know about English after 6 years in primary school. But my partner was motivated to learn and in my country there is no "no way to fail law".. If you don't learn or something you fail. How can a Thai teacher teach English if she/he is not able to speak with me in English??? The best way to learn a language is only use that language...Even Thai teachers could improve... -

13-Year-Old Boy Dies in Motorbike Crash After Making Merit
ikke1959 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
Another unnecessary victim of the unawareness of Thai people caused by lack of no enforcement of any law by the RTP, teachings at school, responsibility of parents and in this case temples. The "mai pen rai" attitude as I always call it is damaging the country more and more year after year..I see kids in my soi and neighbourhood too driving and they learn to drive incorrectly and what you learn incorrectly is very difficult to change -
Thailand Steps Up Enforcement on Illegal Foreign Teachers

An unqualified teacher can sometimes better than a qualified teacher... All Thai teachers are qualified, but their teachings are terrible. How can you learn to speak English if the teacher even can't.. That will motivate students...- 42 replies

Thailand Steps Up Enforcement on Illegal Foreign Teachers
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The problem is to find in the MInistry of Education, Kurusapha, as many foreign teachers don't get a permission anymore to teach. That means a lot of paperwork more for schools and the labour departments refuse or reject the work permits.. All due to too strict regulations. Goal of the previous Government is to keep foreign teachers from teaching in Thailand, as they could open the eyes of the students. On the other hand the Thai English Education is more than terrible. Happily I am retired, but the young English teachers in the school were I was teaching avoided me because they could not speak with me and a vice director was even a Master in English and could not talk to me too. Just to mention... I was wondering how she became a Master .. No wonder you don't see many foreign teachers anymore in schools. Besides that the always pass system make the students lazy to learn and are not willing to work or do anything. Even Thai English teachers I spoke in the past are wondering why many students after 6 years still can't count from 1 to 20 and many don't even can't answer the basic questions as How old are you, What is your name... No wonder And for fully qualified appropriate requirements nobody comes here to work for 35k a month in normal schools..Their qualifications are much more worth. Surely compared with the low education of the Thai English teachers- 42 replies

Activists demand Parliament clean house on old prostitution law
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There is no prostitution in Thailand according to several media and RTP.. It are all hostesses and waitresses... But indeed Thailand keeps old laws in place and changing them is almost impossible and will take decades.. It is time that a new fresh young Government is taking over and revive the outdated laws and make the country modern and enter the 21st century. -

It think it is important that all lights and sounds should be forbidden on all cars except for the emergency cars as police/ambulance/and firefighters. And these cars are only allowed to use them in real emergencies, not to make the way free to drive easily for them. i noticed several times that ambulances are using their lights only to drive on and stop at a place with nothing to do with an emergency or that police cars use their lights for escorting busses on a trip, which is not an emergency... Even when there is a busy road car drivers use the emergency lane to pass or to go faster. High fines should be given for that, as an ambulance will be hindered too if needed. So keep a lane free. And the people behind the steering wheel and use the lights and/or sounds without emergency should be fined too. It are not toys, same as people who don't give free way.. But driving around on Thai roads there are so many vehicles that have red and blue lights flickering all the time and many are not even emergency ones.. no for example a car from a garage to pick up a car after an accident flashes these lights, a minivan wants tog go faster and use these lights and many more examples.. Lately I saw a car with a speedboat at the back with lights....everybody has to move. If it is clear for the public and the people who drive these emergency vehicles than traffic will be easier.. Now it is unclear.. Only give free way for vehicles with sound and lights.. all the rest is not needed even not for guided busses If people follow the rules there will be less problems and in Bangkok and all over Thailand, but by a lack of any enforcement of any rule it will stay a mess.. The RTP just has to go to work instead of raiding all kind of minor issues with too many officers.....

Foreigner Sparks Outrage for Doing Thai-Only Job in Phuket
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Can you imagine how conservative the country is.. Several Thais are too lazy to work so they need Burmese and Cambodian people for jobs they can do but are low paid and no Thai want to do it.. I am a sportsmasseur too but as massage is only job allowed for Thai I can't do it here ... Outdated laws must be updated. It will put people to work instead of holding their hands up and opening coffeeshops and minishops that don't earn anything...Protectionism is always way to hold the economy back- 124 replies

They are not aware of any security and safety for their vans and the people they transporting.. Old magic.... fill his pockets, refuse to pay tax for it, and if prosecuted flee the country... Other magic he doesn't have as we could read.. he only wnat the power of 1 party so he can do as he want... His daughter is PM but nowhere to be seen all the news is about him.. Untouchable by law even for his section 112 violation he get bail, while others are being refused And many more.. The magic that happens is a new coup and throw Thailand back for decades again... Hopefully we are rid of him very quickly

Thailand's New Digital Arrival Card Stirs Confusion Among Travellers
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In THailand it is common to do everything at the very last moment... Just a day or 2 before 1st of May they will get answers maybe.. Confusion all over the place always and everywhere. A few weeks ago with the Equal Marriage Law it was the same.. Although the court decided at the 2nd or 3rd January that the law would be in place the 23rd instead of the 22nd, Mr Anutin had to sign the law to confirm.. And of course he did not do it which confused many Amphurs and organizations. He could only sign it the 20th of January... And that is with everything. In schools every semester it is almost impossible to know when the tests are.. They can change by the day. Sometimes a car drives around in our area to announce that there is a important meeting tonight or tomorrow .....Then Thailand is confused that foreigners don't understand this way of deciding.. No foreigners need to plan ahead and can't do it like Thais...In THailand they can't plan things- 118 replies

Thailand Poised to Implement Carbon Tax to Curb Emissions
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
ok a new tax... but that won't solve any problem.. replace old cars, fine blacksmokers or set them aside and let them solve the problem first before they can go on.. Promote walking or cycling for short distances instead of using the motorcycle for 100 meters and many more will have a bigger effect
