Opinion Russian Teacher to Thais: Drop ‘Farang’ if 'Ni Hao' Offends
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is the same... it just annoying how Thai people are addressing foreigners -
There is since yesterday a music party at Robinson here.. And Sunday at 23.15 they started to do a sound check soo loudly.. I don't understan it. Yesterday I went to complain at Robinson already as I live surely 1 km away from the mall but the bass is still drumming so loudly that I can hear it inside my house with windows and doors closed... They looked at me as I was an alien and told that they would inform the manager.. But yesterday evening they made the same loud sound and today and probably tomorrow the last day it will be the same... Sponsored by Pepsi. I don't understand after a week holiday , on Monday start a 3 day music festival,... They don't think that people have to work? and they can't lower the sounds a bit so that they also can have fun and not the whole province has to listen to their bass and stupid no-able to sing artists. Oh I forgot brains of an ostrich here

Problem with TDAC already
ikke1959 replied to ikke1959's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
We will see.... I need it in September so gthere is time.. My Idea was just to mention it, as there is still time to resolve this problem.. I did not read the TATnews, as that institution is for me of no use..But I did not thought that it would give negative response, for something missing at this moment..It was just a try out for myself..and I still have my opinion that the app builder should have thought about adding Thailand in it at the beginning, but probably his idea was that Thai people don't need to fill in, and forgot that there are also emigrants and long stayers in Thailand living... -

And now they want to get rid of BumjaiThai Party, so maybe together they can make the Government fall and get new elections and rid of this family -
Report Thailand Eyes European Tourists Amid Asian Visitor Decline
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No wonder tourists are not coming anymore.. It starts by entering the country already that you don't feel welcome.. Immigration Officers that hardly say a word to you or smile, Than there is the double pricing system and too expensive THB, and outdated laws for alcohol sales and use Not only between 14.00 and 17.00 but also for Buddhistic holidays, elections, etc, where most tourist have no clue of, They want to sit on the beach or on a terrace and have a beer or wine, but that is impossible. Than there is the vaping problem. Tourist are not allowed to vape, while many Thais are vaping.. The scams by taxis, the traffic accidents, and robberies nowadays and the RTP only chasing to fine foreigners.. Thailand is not welcoming anymore.. I am sure I will get a post on this that it is better that I go back to my own country, if I don't like it here, and that is an example that many tourists experience too.. The welcoming attitude and the gratefulness for the choice for a holiday in Thailand is gone... Anutin and the Government have done this for years already and of course there will be always tourists in Thailand, but there is a big need of updating laws and rules. The latest as we all could read is that guiding is a protected occupation only for Thai people, but there almost no Thai that speak a foreign language and their English is often not very well.. But foreign guides are not allowed.. It are these things that keep tourists away too... Protection and double standards and outdated laws... Enter the 21st century and the tourists will come back, but it will take several years after you changed things- 30 replies

Opinion Russian Teacher to Thais: Drop ‘Farang’ if 'Ni Hao' Offends
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He is right.. Farang is not a decent word and if Thai people talk about foreigners it is always farang.. I was teaching in a school but nobody ever said my name only the farang...And I always said it must be khon Farang, as it in Khon Jipoon, Khon Thai, etc .. and smiled with it... but even after 10 years in the same school they told me farang....Also in my neighbourhood if they as my friend it is where is the farang, just if don't know my name while i live here already 20 years.. It is annoying, because how would Thai people respond if we all foreigners call them Thai... Hey Thai can you help me? Hey Thai how are you?... The Thai asked me if I could this or that....... I think big problems would occur as the would not accept it- 365 replies

Problem with TDAC already
ikke1959 replied to ikke1959's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is no need... but I just checked where I could find the TDAC.. and I started to fill in the form, and it looked fine, However I got a problem with the country of residence, as never have seen the update you mentioned... I personally don't need it yet, just in a few months, but I may assume that the one who had developed this app should have added Thailand already instead that there is an update needed.. I find your post a bit annoying but anyway we will see what will happen 28th of April, as as you mentioned 1st of May is too late... you need to fill in the form before entering the country... -

ikke1959 replied to ikke1959's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It is not about the app it about that as a person living in Thailand you can't fill in that you live in Thailand... So there are 2 options.. Or you fill in the wrong information or you don't do anything and let the people on the airport solve the problem.. It is just that have not been thinking that foreigners could live in Thailand too..although they do 90 days reports, address notifications etc etc.. And the option of printing the form is difficult if you are on a airport and have to fill in that form.... Easiest way is add Kingdom of Thailand, but yeah Thailand and IT are a bad combination as I wrote before and this is another proof.. -
Today I just checked the internet and tried to fill in the TDAC arrival card number. But I am living in THailand for many years already and one of the questions is country of residence. So I have to fill in Thailand, but that is NOT possible.. and it is a required field. So how can I fill in my card ?? And when I can't do it I will get a problem at immigration or do I have to lie and fill in my orginal country???

Politics Thais Demand Immediate Cabinet Shakeup, Commerce Hits Top Priority
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The reshuffle won't change anything.. There need to be new elections and reforms to get changes... Former MFP would have done better but the old conservative guard has already proven that they are not able to bring the country any economic progress- 17 replies

Thailand Joins ASEAN in Trade Talks Pushback Against US Tariffs
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
When is she going to meet Trump as she announced last week to talk about the import taxes on Thai products??? Probably only making herself important to become world leader of the year but saying a lot and doing nothing -
I keep having my opinion that bars open till 1 or 2 am id more than enough... You see the night is for the creeps and nothing goods comes out of it. The greed however of the bars and restaurants is gigantic but why laws for alcohol consumption forbidden during the day, while in the evening people can drink as much as they want. Let them get drunk in daytime than they will sleep at night... Or nobody needs to go to work the next day?? Tourists too.. In many countries bars are closed around 1 or 2 am...

Illegal Foreign Tour Guides Bypass Thai Law with Bribes
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Unfortunately the Thai people are unable to guide as many guides only speak Thai and sometimes some English understandable or not.... Other languages are not possible to guide, so how on earth can you attrack tourist from foreign countries without proper guides. Guiding is a protected profession by Thai law only for Thais, and foreign guides only are allowed to do administration work... No wonder that bribes are given as tourists want professional guides in their language that can explain things and they ask questions to. But the conservative and outdated laws of Thailand prevent every step forward and on the other hand TAT is wondering why less and less tourist are coming... Maybe start with updating laws and welcoming people who want to work here ... labour protection is not needed anymore. Who wants to work can work and if the netizens are too lazy to study or do a job they just miss their chance... -
Topless Dancing at Songkran Spurs Cultural Image Controversy
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Thailand still live in the 19th century with their thoughts, outdated laws, conservatism... It is all a part of the cultural heritage, look how they hold on on Thai costumes with every opportunity... But the costumes they wear were only for the richer people. and dildo's in their money box.. Now it seems that in Thailand the 60't of the 20th century are coming in... Sexual revolution, with sex toys, topless dancing, sex in the streets... People are desperate waiting for chances but the Government want to keep everything unchanged, unless it is about mobiles, TV's , holidays, and luxury goods....to show how they entered the modern world, but in the real life, the laws and punishments are still outdated.. Best example is the section 112 law, the alcohol laws, and now vaping as smoking cigarettes is no problem....Thailand is indeed a country but with on every corner sex available so in fact it is one big city -
Tattooed Tourist Assaulted in Songkran Soaking Incident
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Such incidents will have a bigger on the cultural image of the country than a topless dancer.. Besides that again in Soi 6 and of course many against one and the people on the run... Thailand is not safe for tourists anymore we can read it almost daily, now Songkran or not Songkran 3 days shoould be enough as everyone knows the longer you party the more problems. Just celebrate Songkran as the normal New Year 1 day a year is enough... Safe a lot of lives, prevent a lot of injured people and less problems -
