  1. So does the cost argument still hold true with coins vs plastic notes. I understand what inflation is, I just didn't really see what impact it has on choosing to move from notes to coins. But yea, if there's a certain threshold where coins make more sense than notes, I guess that threshold changes with inflation.
  2. How do you know that there are enough people in his community?
  3. I didn't make a suggestion. I asked a question. If you're refusing to avail yourself of certain services in the first few days of your holiday just because that's not your perfect ideal time to be indulging, however, then you may want to re-assess your priorities. I'm sure you'd have much more fun doing what you like doing, but at a slightly different time for the first few days, than trying (with no guarantee of success) to force your body out of jetlag. That is a suggestion ☺️
  4. And that's relevant to why Thailand replaced small-denomination notes with coins how, exactly?
  5. Why would being out of sync prevent one from "getting down to business", assuming that means what I think it does? Most things you could want are available 24/7.
  6. Longer lasting is a reasonable argument. Is this still the case with the newer plastic notes, though? I'm not sure what the impact of inflation is?
  7. I have no objection to a cashless society. That's even better than a coinless one to me.
  8. Firstly, of course there will be some jobs. Work would be a lifestyle choice, though, rather than an expectation. Secondly, both the tasks mentioned would certainly be possible with AI. Think bigger.
  9. Does anybody know the reason for changing from notes to coins in the first place?
  10. If the wrong people are in charge, as they were when the computer revolution happened, they will dedicate all their resources to making sure that people still have to work. Control freaka are scared shipless of a society where lowee class people have the freedom to choose not to work.
  11. There have been reports of long waiting lists for getting an appointment in Vientiane so make sure you make an appointment at Vientiane before you attempt to get a visa at Savannakhet. Unless you're in no real hurry, of course.
  12. This is what I did. But not the full 60 days... It's a multi entry visa so you're supposed to be able to come and go as you please. I booked just a few days with Agoda then cancelled after I got my visa.
  13. I find it quite amazing that you managed to both know what the person in front of you purchased, and then hang around to watch the person after you complete their transaction.
  14. Why would they have mentioned it? Why is it important? What difference does it make to getting an answer to his question?
  15. I'm not retired and I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "flair" in this case but, yea, hanging off the back of a baht bus certainly gave me a talking point when I got back from my first holiday here.
  16. Who says his home country even has a "safety net"? Maybe his home country is in fact incredibly unsafe?
  17. I'm not sure but I think it gets complicated by certain promotional items entitling you to extra stamps.
  18. You'd prefer a drunk driver to a taxi that you can't give "better" directions too? Each to their own. (yes I ignored the comment about not being able to tell the taxi to pull over... Because I'm sure you can do)
  19. Omg I wish they'd re-issue those. Add in a 5bt, 2bt and 1bt note too, please! Coins suck!
  20. I thought you were moving to the Philippines..?
  21. Threads like this are my personal vindication for always flagging down a sawnthew in the road, rather than getting on at a pre-determined location. Walk to bus stop, get in bus, be confused about which bus you need to be on,wait for bus to fill up, go. Vs Don't move anywhere, wait a couple of minutes (at the longest) for a bus, flag down bus, get on the only bus.
  22. However, a visa usually has a validity or "enter by" date.... Perhaps there needs to be 6 months from the enter by date? I don't know, I'm just guessing here.
  23. 7 months and 18 days from the date of your application? Or from the date of your intended entry?
  24. Imagine a taxi driver that relies on Sangsom or Hong Tong.
