  1. I know it's readily available. Lots of things are readily available in Thailand regardless of their legal status. Anyway I'll test the waters by trying to buy some in Boots next time I pass by.
  2. Not really. The point of 2 factor authentication is proving who you are by something you know (your password) with something you have (your phone). It doesn't matter that you're using the phone both as the thing you have and to input the thing you know; you've still proven both to be true. Which can't be achieved by 1 factor authentication.
  3. Yes you could certainly argue that "our" society is rotten when it apparently contains people who support a government's "right" to suppress women.
  4. If it would be such a kick in the teeth for them to be eligible for UK benefits, then why are you even asking about them?
  5. I was under the impression it was a controlled drug. I've certainly been refused it in the past without a prescription. Not often, of course, TIT, but I was definitely told by pharmacists at the times that I either had to go to a hospital, or do without.
  6. If you're taking a taxi between now and then for any reason, you could always try and ask the driver to come back and pick you up on the weekend. Grab also has an option for advanced bookings, but I've never tried it before so I don't know if it's reliable or not. Another option is to book a cheap hotel somewhere central the night before.
  7. Migrants coming across on rafts are shipped over by traffickers. They're not going to even mention Rwanda and none of the migrants themselves even will know about the plan. Even if they knew about it then the chances of being one of the 200 sent over each year is so remote that they'd take the risk anyway. So, any other ideas on how this will actually, genuinely, have an impact on immigration?
  8. Or for those two years you could rent a unit in much nicer condition than that for 5000bt/month, and in two years time you'll have saved yourself up to 300,000 in cash that you can spend or save as and how you like without being tied to a condo unit that you may not be able to sell when you need to.
  9. And how does this scheme do anything to stop illegal immigration, exactly?
  10. Rwanda have said that they can only process 200 claims a year so, no, the deportations won't be swift. And you do realise this is an exchange program? The UK are taking an undisclosed amount of refugees in return. Great scheme...
  11. One of the best things about the British monarchy in recent times, was that you never really had to hear much about them. Unless they were breeding, marrying or dying you could quite happily manage to get through your day without hearing a word about them. It seems like a very different story recently ????.
  12. Both times I renewed my passport the old ones had the corner snipped. I've never heard of it not being done, but maybe they only snip if the old passport still has remaining validity (both mine were renewed way in advance of the supposed renewal date)?
  13. So you accept that there is a limit to just how much of a "safety net" people can build up. Therefore just how big that safety net should be is a subjective measure. There are plenty of people who started their adventure here with a nest-egg that would have seemed like more than plenty to the average onlooker. But bad luck doesn't just happen to the unprepared. It can strike anybody at any time. A family emergency here, a medical bill there, an investment or two taking a bad turn... things can go south very quickly. I personally think these people deserve a bit of compassion, as opposed to apathetic "I told you so"s from gloating know-it-alls.
  14. *Sigh* If you seriously believe that the majority, or even a significant minority, of people are financially secure enough to endure any kind of setback before having a family then you are deluded and it's really not work pursuing any kind of conversation with you expecting a rational response. But just to go through the motions: So what's your plan when your state decided not to pay pensions to expats? And when a global event wipes out the value of your private pension plans? Or how about when your country is invaded and the value of your currency goes to all but zero? Nobody has a backup plan for every conceivable situation. If they did humanity simply would never progress.
  15. You moved to Thailand for a "normal life"? How's that working out for you?
  16. If that were the case, nobody would ever have children.
  17. How did he deal with the blacklistings? Presumably they start the family before they let themselves fall into the overstay trap.
  18. What's more surprising to me is the amount of people that seem bothered by other people wearing masks by choice .
  19. Sure. But for me there's a difference between individuals ignoring a law, and a government official saying "this particular law will be easy for you to get away with".
  20. Am I reading this correctly? Is the governor basically saying "it's okay to break the law because you'll be able to get away with it"?
  21. No. We don't know. You seem to have made your mind up, though.
  22. Because she was frightened of losing her job? Because she was worried about losing face with colleagues? Because she didn't know she was going to be spanked after turning around? There's three possibilities just from the top of my head. No
  23. A simple google search indicates the poster you quoted appears to be correct. Anecdotal evidence of your particular dealings in the armed forces are not a substitute for the actual facts...
  24. I understood perfectly what you meant. Blind spots and interpretations of what "when the road is clear" means still make this a massively unsafe practice. As a motorcycle rider, I understand that. But it's still way more dangerous than doing it the "correct" way. No, you can't trust any other driver on the road. But if you're going to take that kind of protectionism to the extreme then you simply wouldn't drive here at all. We all take a risk when we get in or on any vehicle; driving improperly to compensate for others rarely has any affect other than to increase the chances of an accident.
