How can you tell they're tourists?
-
They most likely want to sell you a suit, some weed, toys, or introduce you to somebody who can keep you company for the evening. Or they might be trying to scam you in some way or another. Why don't you ask them and find out?

Veterans victims of Gerrymandering
JayClay replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Clearly not common sense to the ex prime minister, who's party brought the rule in https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uks-boris-johnson-who-introduced-voter-id-rule-forgets-his-while-voting-2024-05-02/ -
Is there any way to turn it off?

Veterans victims of Gerrymandering
JayClay replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
As expected there is already a huge amount of ignorance in this thread about the situation. Here are a few bullet points that may help people, who actually want to, understand the situation better: The UK does not have a national ID card system. It is not considered 'normal' in the UK to carry ID around unless you expect it to be required. Until last year there was no requirement for people to show ID to vote in the UK. The UK government has made little to no effort to advertise the new requirements, so many people do not know that they need to bring ID with them. Of those that do know they now need to carry ID, many of them assume that any government -issued photo ID will suffice. It will not. There are only certain documents that the government will consider acceptable. -

Health Ministry approves medical use of opium and magic mushrooms
JayClay replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is nothing wrong with "people like me", at least not on this point. And I'm not making my own bleeding rules up. Do you even know what point you're actually trying to argue? or are you aware of what I was asking when you quoted me? Let me put it as plainly and simply as I can: Point 1: The marijuana law relaxation was intended to be for "medical purposes only". Point 2: When the laws were relaxed "for medical purposes only", thousands of weed shops appeared and (as you correctly pointed out) no arrests have ever been made for personal use since. Point 3: The laws around magic mushrooms are now also to be relaxed for "medical purposes only". Point 4: Because marijuana was legalised "for medical use only" there are people, both pro and anti, who are wondering if the mushrooms will be also available in the same shops in a similar way. It's a very simple logical process to follow. When I have more time I'll try and catch up with the rest of the thread to see if anybody has had a more helpful take on the topic. By the way the "friend" for which I asked smokes marijuana fairly regularly, is very happy with the current availability, and is simply curious if there will be a new line available in such shops due to this ruling. -
Health Ministry approves medical use of opium and magic mushrooms

If you had familiarised yourself with the (recent) history of marijuana legalisation in this country, you would know that it is also "quite clearly" only approved for medical purposes. -

Are these going to be approved for "medical use" in the same way weed is? Or will this be for hospital administration only? Asking for a friend, of course... -
Ah yes I can see how not supporting Thai language could be something of an issue π. Sorry for the misunderstanding; I'm not familiar with the app. I had assumed it was a learning app that wasn't "fun" enough and you were looking for an alternative.

PM Explores Hosting Formula One Race in Bangkok
JayClay replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It couldn't. Not possibly. Not at all. Not ever. 0%. The things that are "alienating" old fans are the same things that are bringing in new fans in bigger numbers. You can't have both. Especially if you're going all the way back to the days when F1 cars even remotely resembled road cars, you are talking about fans who are mostly not even still alive today anyway! -

They have a bigger fanbase than ever so that's not a very rational argument. I also personally don't think F1 is as good as when I was growing up (strange that), but the "they could be making more money if they did exactly what I wanted" mentality is not exactly backed up by the figures. -
Have you tried him with DuoLingo to start with? If he has a genuine desire to communicate with your son then maybe that is incentive enough to enjoy working with whatever app you choose.

Ladyboy Arrested For Throwing Glass Bottle At Tourist In Pattaya

Are you deliberately missing the point of my post for comedic effect? If so, well done. Very funny. If not... π€¦π»ββοΈ -
Ladyboy Arrested For Throwing Glass Bottle At Tourist In Pattaya
JayClay replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
It depends who you mean by "we". If you mean "the general population", then no. If you mean "a small subset of the population who seemingly have nothing better in their lives to worry about", then yes. -
I don't know. I never suggested you would π€·π»ββοΈ.

I guess @DaLa hasn't actually done it himself. Google clearly thinks it can be done, as it offers walking directions. Unless you're lucky enough to find somebody who's already done it themselves, it's up to you if you trust Google. (edit) If you're not worried too much about the possibility of failure, you could always just try to follow the route, and if you do get stuck then just call a taxi to finish the journey off.

Foreigner jumps from tower in Surat Thani province
JayClay replied to roo860's topic in Southern Thailand
While there may be occasions where that is true, most suicide attempts follow a specific trigger, after a long-term build up of stress. The triger is instant and the person wants to do the job as quickly as possible, possibly for fear of changing their mind and prolonging their suffering. They are not in a right state of mind to be scientifically assessing the height of the window or balcony to ensure it's going to do the job properly for them. -
Again how do you know where you were poisoned? While there are certain types of food poisoning that kick in within a few hours, typical cases of food poisoning take 24-48 hours before they start to show symptoms. Unless on both occasions they were the only place you'd eaten for the last couple of days, or an investigation took place to determine the source, you can't be even nearly sure where you got sick.

Yes they fit the dictionary definition of hearsay. And I'm sorry if I misinterpreted the tone of your OP. You seemed quite distressed about the whole situation to me.

Ahh. You're getting upset over hearsay. Got it. ππ»
