  1. yes, red cross does offer, if you have full day to spare. Come early morning, to take your number. If you come 9-10am might be too late. No online or phone booking system. Each governmental hospital does for some 1800b, that's at their vip wing (if yours has one) and pretty fast (special line). You can request additional tests, for example several cancer markers, ultrasound, ecg. You might also think about 3 stool exams for blood
  2. I think WrLife is some 45% cheaper to the Pacific Cross - for similar plans Serenity $80k and premier plus 3mln baht their premium is $780 (so 28k baht) and 50k baht. The WrLife is quite complex, has many variables. Probably you included also outpatient from them, but not from the others. I am really tempted to switch to them. But if you have really compared well those policies, the better option will be to go with only slightly more expensive insurers, who are well established, with smaller risk from them. Ask an agent to compare all those policies for you, outline benefits and downfalls of each. I think only the AA has WrLife on their books
  3. all health policies do include also accident - you will be treated to the max value of your policy/per accident. Stand alone PA are not much worth when comes to medical care, usually in low tens of thousands - so more for wounds, injuries, but barely for operations and longer hospital stay. They are only good for disability.
  4. from thai insurers only pacific cross has up to 300k deductible, Luma up to 192k, April up to 200k, LMG up to 200k. The PC gives 50% discount for 300k deductible. Also up to 20% discount for not claiming. So up to 70% total. Problem, they will exclude your pre-existing - or refuse policy. Bangkok hospital is private, one of the more expensive. They have offered you 50% for bed, but charge for treatments, medicines, care, tests etc. Cost of bed is insignificant in comparison to every else they will skim you. Do count in the governmental hospitals, this 850b for bed on a common ward or 2500b at single occupancy is much less than your 50%, which still might come around 5k. Check https://misterprakan.com/th/health/plans?gender=Male&age=62&lg=en&ipd=1&opdf=0&leadid=348157 but only expensive policies have deductibles, no need for them at cheap ones. Also Thai Health Insurance PCL has deductible up to 200k https://www.aainsure.net/thai-health/
  5. more spicy details: "Servant soldiers” or ทหารรับใช้, are common in the army – conscripts are often sent to work as gardeners and domestic workers at senior commanders’ residences. " "Cop accused of torturing, enslaving woman" https://prachatai.com/english/node/9973
  6. but criminals are not related to tourism and season at all - they are running from their own countries to escape prosecution. They are not coming to thailand to rob tourists. the more important question is what police is doing to stop thai criminals from all scams at tourist areas
  7. private hospitals were selling moderna in July and August 2021. Some were distributing them from the beginning of year, and in small quantities, but Medpark is getting them only sometimes from September. Many people, including myself, request refunds for moderna which supposed to come within the first half of year - as per terms & conditions. So hospitals are stacked with a potential surplus and offering those same vaxes at half price, so some 700b per jab. People can get free vax at the government hospitals as walk in
  8. The first omicron at the end of the last year often gave gostro problems. now is many of them, i think over 10 similar strains. Get honey, lemon, garlic mixture. Sip water all the time (not chilled). at pharmacy strepsil (several different once, with different active medicines). also cepacol original (only this works for covid) - its already withdrawn from distribution, but some people have at home medicine drawers. use mouthwash with cetylpiridinium chlorate, japanese import, so not cheap and not easy to find. if bacterial coinfection and worsening of symptoms, maybe try mild antbiotic doxicicline
  9. occult stool blood supposed to be checked yearly and 3 samples over time. Bleeding occur only periodically. Colonoscopy every 10 years (some sources say from age 45) so about 3 in lifetime
  10. for that premium cover is max 450k/year/condition. If you look into details, it covers very little. It won't fully cover single room + service and board at the governmental hospital. And check for premiums over 80 - likely above 100k/year
  11. the best for value policies are from the PC. The Premium Plus policy covering a reasonable 3mln is 100k from age 66, 150k from 71, 200k from 76, 250k from 81, over 320k from 86. They don't publish from 91 - probably around 400k, and from 96 - probably around 500k per year. So if you take that policy at 65 (the last year which they don't require medical checks and don't have any pre-existing) and hope to live to 99, you are going to fork out minimum 10mln. With 300k deductible you will pay over 5mln. If large claiming your rate jumps by 25% for 2 years and very likely they dump you shortly after. For the next 20 post-covid years rates will be rising by some 5% per year and over inflation rate, due to deluge of large claims. Personally I would be able to afford those premiums to age 80, that if I am still reasonable healthy (no claims)
  12. from 2019 the governmental hospitals can add 25% to foreigner bill. Siriraj hospital in bangkok has posters on all wards since then. that charge suppose to cover vip treatment - shorter lines for tests, treatments, seeing doctor's consultation. In practice they don't have internal procedures to facilitate that, so it just double pricing. For hospitalisation a foreigner will be offered the most expensive room. I was quoted 7.5k for a private, so I opted for a common room for 2.5k. They took an advantage of me because I needed urgent hospitalisation. After that hospitalisation I have shopped around I found a neighbouring hospital charging 3.8-9.5k (or 2.9k in a double room) and 1350b for a common. That prices are all inclusive. The first hospital doesn't publish their prices and doesn't offer choice between private rooms, the second does.
  13. Doxycycline 100mg for up to 6 months. Very cheap. isotretinoin 20mg also for long. That one watch for serious side effects. Some 10b per pill. but the best she needs good dermatologist, blood tests. Possible dietician to check deficiencies. Surely, if she has it for 22 years already she should do something
  14. no, if you have symptoms you don't need exam and diagnosis. Tell you girlfriend to start with mebendazole up to 500mg for several days. It has no side effects - unlike albendazole, which can give side effects after some 30 pills taken within shortish time. To minimise side effect do take all available medicines - niclosamide 500mg, praziquantel 600mg. And ivermectin - that one is expensive, so get veterinarian one. Rotate them. Some those medicines work synergisticaly - albendazol+ivermectin, praziquantel enhances albendazole. So smaller doses are needed
  15. that's why my last sentence was "It's inevitable that at some stage you will have to get self-insured. Insurance premiums are rising sharply because of covid and undetected/untreated chronic diseases it caused. For the next 20 years patients will be draining insurance companies for treating cancer and the other major. ". They have offered you a standard premium, but they have excluded almost everything. Before covid they were insuring many up to 75, somebody even claimed he was issued a new policy at 78. They even had "Visa Friendly" policy, which was actually a better deal, than the rest of their policies.
  16. yes, strange she can't get home (or anywhere else she wants) and that hospital can't supply free/discounted food. They do have insite canteen. Get her a rice cooker, in which she can also cook/warm up any other food. Together with a bag of rice, kilogram of many different vegetables (those that can't be easily spoiled) and fruits. If she has access to fridge/freezer you can also cook for her a big pot or many different dishes, put in plastic bags/small plastic containers and freeze. Transport to her in an ice box and leave it with her. Top it up with healthy foods - nuts, seeds, dried fruits, berries. Honey. You can get them at macro/supermarket on the way to hospital.
  17. FWD has monthly covid cover for 750k for 650b. Yearly 4500b. policy is activated on entry to thailand, but exclusion 14 days. You can do pcr test before arrival and be covered from day 1. there is no more forced isolation, you do self-isolate. Hospitalisation is only for those with 39c over 24h or for those with a minimum 25 breaths per minute. They would admit patients with underlying conditions, chronic, but not sure if policy would cover it fully. Read their small print, call/email them for explanation. They reply fast and good english. I think good travel insurance is better. Even better good health insurance with international cover.
  18. this 4mln is a max at the top private hospital. So the governmental one some 1mln. That is for a major event, series of operations, months in hospital, including weeks in ICU. Average operations at the governmental hospitals are some 150k, with some 1 week on the bed. I have stayed in such hospital for 4 nights in a common 6 bed room and it was good enough, 1/3rd of private room. Get registered at the secondary care governmental hospital, they are more expensive, than primary one, but shorter waiting time for treatments and specialists. Think about insurance with the highest deductible. Pacific cross has 50% lower premiums with 300k deductible. For your age 3mln cover with 300k deductible is some 30k/year. They give up to 20% reduction for not claiming. It's inevitable that at some stage you will have to get self-insured. Insurance premiums are rising sharply because of covid and undetected/untreated chronic diseases it caused. For the next 20 years patients will be draining insurance companies for treating cancer and the other major.
  19. lazada 10mg 100 pills some 420b, producer "21st century" from the usa. Some half pill so 5mg 30 minutes before sleep. Might also be used during covid infection, but larger dose
  20. as her employer is a cop, probably a senior one, this won't get investigated. The victim should go through some other channels, possibly within ministry of interior itself. Possibly with help from the army office. How this victim was able to work 2 full time jobs - coffee shop and army barracks? Why she did not quit coffee shop, if she was abused? She had means to support herself. Surely, she needs some hard proof about her injuries, scars, witnesses. And possibly the other employees from that shop, clients, neighbours, who would support her story.
  21. all night life venues, casino are related to police. If not owners, they have share in profits. So they will be pushing for it and it's clear from this article they will approve. They are tumbing up their own particular agenda, as seen on picture above. On that picture is one tourist. No picture of the other tourists, or local residents. I am not sure many tourists would want to stay in a noisy hotel, not able to sleep. Khaosan became already thai dominated entertainment. And they still be a large part eve at high season. That wasn't "fact finding mission" but PR promotion. They have already said they want 8 areas in thailand with this "pilot scheme", pretty much covering all tourist places. Pipat said elsewhere they want it to start from 1st September, but that's well ahead of high season, which starts in November. Thailand was spared the BA.5 wave, as so far.. Europe is tightening up it's regulations against BA.5 and BA.6 wave combined with seasonal flu - expected to spread in the Autumn.
  22. I don't think polyp removal for 3750b is normal charge. That should be included in the package. So what if decide take 10 polyps and add up more, than procedure itself. You are not in rush, it's just a regular check up, do it at the governmental hospital. As to stomach age check for parasites
  23. in an email they wrote to me their insurer is "If you contact any hospital our name to tell is ASSIST INTERNATIONAL SERVICES ". That is some small thai company dealing with medical evacuation. Very little about them on the net. I'm not sute the AA has larger commission from WRI, they never offered me that one. Usually they suggest the PC, April, even thai companies. But they are probably the only agency, which lists WRI. My agency mrprakan never heard about wri when I have asked them.
