  1. If the 6 months happen to equate to 180 days or more, you could find yourself subject to Thai tax on the money you bring in to spend during the whole year.
  2. Does that include the corrupt elements in the Government or is it to protect their position by removal of the opposition
  3. Don't know about planting meat, but I did see an ad the other day for meat free potatoes ‼️
  4. If it is full board and medicines sounds too good to be true
  5. Operating illegally so lets change the laws to make it legal. What's next, murder is illegal so lets change the laws so it doesn't happen any more and thereby stop the tarnishing of Thailand's good name / reputation.
  6. Fully agree with both statements, the satang coins are a pain in the A$$, many including Thais just throw them away as getting a 7-11, or Big C or Lotus's to accept them is often hard as they don't really want them either. They must cost about 10 times the face value to make.
  7. Yes but don't let them go in the washing machine and say you "laundered" them
  8. Misconceptions. You need to read the DTA (Double Taxation Agreement) appropriate to your Home Country / Country of Residence / Source of Income. E.G. In the UK/Thailand DTA the only pensions that get relief (i.e. pay HMRC, pay Thailand, claim back from HMRC) from Double taxation are Civil Service & Local Government pensioners. The DTA is silent with regards to taxing / relief of State & Private pensions. In saying that I personally don't believe too many will be impacted significantly enough to cause them severe problems. Those that use an agents 800k for their extension and a foreign Credit Card for daily money would be almost untraceable in the Thai banking system, to the extent that trying to identify them to pay tax would probably be more hassle than it's worth.
  9. Probably not, very rarely is their any follow up in the news to events like this.
  10. Their a bank, they don't give money away, each year is treated as having 365 days only, Leap Years included.
  11. Interest is calculated on a daily basis, therefore a 30 day month will have a different value to a 31 day month, not forgetting February.
  12. Same for me, EZ on 25 Oct and credited to the account. The data sheets for the Jai-Tem & Standard savings accounts are both showing interest paid on 25 June & 25 December, wonder if they are going to change them too.
  13. Every office I have dealt with have required a completed TM47 and passport copies, some only face page and latest stamp through to every page of passport and a copy of the TM6 - Arrival/Departure Card. You've been lucky if you've managed to avoid it till now.
  14. Don't know if this is what you mean or not, but when we had our kitchen extension built and they installed the window shutters, all the hinge screws were hammered home with not a screw driver to be seen.
  15. Yes, but "serving" your ban time, be it 1 year or 3 years, will not automatically mean you can return with no questioning, as to why banned, for an overstay they may (and I do say may) consider that you are a prime candidate to overstay again and hence decide "No Entry" at this time.
  16. Public record - Probably but getting access may be difficult, don't believe that Thailand has a "Freedom of Information" Act. If a reporter did get access to the information and printed it, he could probably be sued for Deformation under the Lesse Majest laws for impugning somebody's character.
  17. Not in all offices, I've personally never had the 90 day reset at extension time (been reminded that the 90 day is due in 10 days or so on occasion), only time it was reset was when I went to Laos for a Non-B Visa.
  18. Plus for me a 45 minute drive each way, among the wonderfully traffic law obedient others, while risking life and limb. Nah, I'll stick to the on-line system, thank you very much.
  19. Assume you used the toilet. Depends if you were standing or sitting
