  1. So get them to pay the pension direct to WISE. I contacted Standard Life about a year ago to have my pensions paid direct to my WISE account, answer was WISE are a finance house not a bank and Head Office say pensions must be paid into a bank account, therefore no can do. Would like to know if Standard Life has changed their attitude on this.
  2. Yeah the banks are good at saying we will do, they start off good and then fall by the wayside.
  3. check your SCB account transfer limits mine are set at 5,000-00 per day
  4. Follow your logic, however the 5% is paid on 150k only (the difference between the 150k (exempt) and the upper limit of 300k, result tax would be 7.5k giving a year total of 15.5k
  5. Bangkok Bank is the only one I know that needs 7 to 10 days for a 12 month statement, 6 months can be done on the spot. I use SCB for my statement for Immigration and they do 12 months on the spot along with the ownership letter.
  6. so I have found out, but Bangkok Bank does allow use of the VPN, as does both my UK bank web based apps.
  7. one of the problems associated with not doing your own extensions
  8. So you're on annual extensions, why don't you just extend for 1 year more (only 1,900 Baht, a lot cheaper than a border run) and leave when you like. When you leave do not get a re-entry permit, that will get what's left of your annual extension cancelled.
  9. Only boxes you need fill in is the passport no & country, then click on the magnifying glass icon the system will complete the form for you, if you have input the passport no correctly. If not then check the passport no. Only time you need to check the auto input data is first time after an extension, when you need to change your valid to date. If you have a new passport I believe you have to do the first report in person.
  10. Many doctors work for 2 hospitals, say State in the morning, then Private in the afternoon, some have private clinics as well.
  11. Registered address with Wise is Thailand, to change to a UK address needs proof of residence. Which is why I cannot take up the Interest Option for deposits into Wise either.
  12. Maybe easier, but the fees my bank charge for cash withdrawals is astronomical and their exchange rate is pitiful. Don't suggest getting a Wise card as I am in Thailand and Wise will not deliver here.
  13. Nothing to do with the bank, the requirements to submit income data for tax purposes is wholly with the Thai Revenue Department. This is why some people are suggesting that annual extensions from Immigration will become dependent in the future on having a completed tax certificate from the Revenue Department.
  14. Unless they were transferred in during the financial year they were earned, e.g. pensions deposited direct into a Thai Bank by a UK pension provider.
  15. Fat lot of use to Expats then, we will send money out of UK provided you live in the UK, no better than a High Street bank who are de-banking people for many different reasons.
  16. With the current moves to register and possibly tax Expats from Tax Year 2024, how far back can the Thai Revenue Department investigate your income stream, 5 years, 10 years, or only 2023 (the year being assessed right now). I submitted tax returns on my Thai income only in 2008-2010, after ceasing work the RD ceased sending me annual forms to complete and submit. If I re-register (old no is dead as only 10 digits, now are 13 digit numbers), will they suddenly want to assess all the years between, resulting in what may be a significant tax bill and fines.
  17. With Lao Khow (however you spell it) or See Sip which is another name for it, you don't need much money 40 Baht tends to be enough for most Thais in my area
  18. As far as I'm aware Bangkok Bank only pay attention if the "Funds for long stay" is selected, the transfer is delayed until, I believe, manually marked as FTT. Any other category will probably not be marked as FTT. I am not aware of Bangkok Bank having any interest in the category attributed to the transfer, I've used in the past a number of other categories and not an eyebrow has been raised. As I said I believe this is an available option within Wise for you to collate and analyze your expenditures.
  19. I would reckon that it is Wise only, to allow you to summarize/analyze your expenditure by category, wouldn't think it's of any interest to Bangkok Bank, the Funds for Long Term Stay is to try to ensure that it is marked FTT (Foreign Transfer) in your passbook.
  20. I spent a number of years working in a High School (11 to 18 year olds), and 80% of the Thai English speakers teachers could not speak a sentence, they were wizard at written grammar though and believed that English Conversation was a totally different subject to written English. One of the students said to me one day "I'm going to spend 40 years working in the fields, why do I need to study English"
  21. Somebody that has an inflated idea of themselves, or maybe overstayed and waiting for Immigration to find him so that a "valuable" fine can be paid.
  22. I haven't transferred any funds as yet, but given that we are only at the start of the financial year and no real decisions have been released on how it will impact us (if at all) I wouldn't expect anything different to normal. The assessment of income for 2024 tax will not take place until 2025, therefore it would IMHO be impractical for any deductions to be made prior. For example one of my Thai accounts pays interest monthly and tax wasn't deducted until December.
  23. The bankers have got to justify their existence, and the need to grow their industry, as well as the amount of fees they charge us to allow them to use our money, which we have entrusted to their safe keeping. Then when you ask for some back it's "Why do you want to withdraw our money".
  24. like password protecting your password, and then storing it on the cloud
  25. January to March 2025 is the assessment and payment period for income during the tax year 2024.
