  1. In a way you've been lucky, when I was on married extensions (not at CW though) it was always 2 copies as far back as 2006, at that time my father was doing "retirement" at the same visit, he was providing 2 copies as well.
  2. I will be claiming my UK DWP state pension shortly, has anybody out there succeeded in getting DWP to pay it direct into a Wise account. If so what problems did you have to overcome.
  3. My Lloyds GBP account is based in Jersey, according the latest statement (Nov 2022) with a correspondence address in Douglas IoM. They have been requesting on the account statement, for a quite a while, that I provide a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and Tax Residency Information. As I live permanently in Thailand (and they are well aware of that as they have sent 108 statements plus cheque books and credit cards to me here, since they "took over" my Bank of Scotland International account), this means I am Tax Resident in Thailand (here for more than 180 days per year) and if I obtain a Thai TIN, I could find myself liable for tax in both countries. The old Double Taxation (i.e. tax due only where the income was generated) agreement has gone. The latest agreement I have seen leaves you wide open to being taxed twice, with civil servants only being able claim relief on UK tax, if they get taxed twice on their civil service pension.
  4. DWP issue "proof of life" forms on a random basis, people and timeframe, if the only postal address they have for you is outside the UK. I have one friend who is required to submit one every year (and complete an HMRC tax self-assessment annually), yet another has never received either.
  5. Believe your statement to be correct for "married extension", however retirement (which the OP is on) is a different kettle of fish with a requirement to maintain the 800k for 3 months after approval, have the 800k for 2 months before next application and a 400k minimum between.
  6. As did I (not CW though) from 2006 until 2 or 3 years ago. Now the book is only accepted provided there is a statement to back it up, in saying that I understand from others that a statement alone is not acceptable without the bank book as back-up. Speak of a paper chase.
  7. If the fact was presented by the wife, alternative sources are not necessary as they might disagree with her, then your opinion would have to be changed, as you can never be right.
  8. Confused. The Thai Revenue Department, i.e. tax man (for income tax) works on the calendar year, how can they make that statement in month 2?
  9. Did mine yesterday (6th consecutive) entered passport no and nationality (from pop-up) then selected the search arrow, system automatically filled rest of form leaving TM6 entry blank,. Submitted form and approval came back in little over 1 hour.
  10. He lives fairly local to me, but covers a really large area, the address is in Thai. House numbering is <deleted>, when looking from the road the house to my left is #182, mine is #35 and the house behind me is #63/1. The house with #63 is about 5 houses further along the road and 3rd off the road, and at least 95% of the houses display no number at all.
  11. In my Immigration Office, 2 years ago, when they found it difficult to explain what was missing from my submission, pulled out the previous year's submission and pointed to the missing pages. Must make me an "immortal soul".
  12. Apart from handling from Thai Post, e.g. I often get 3 separate months invoices for the Wi-Fi at one time, latest + 2 previous.
  13. Nope, it his job to submit his extension application complete with all the required documents (1 of which is TM30 receipt which is fineable if missing)
  14. In my local city there are 2 "1 way" streets either side of a single block, forming an anti-clockwise circle. Cars tend to respect the no entry signs on both streets, but motorcycles totally ignore the "official" signs, especially when being ridden by RTP.
  15. Normal for me ever since Thailand created the rule of 3 banks only to carry out the 50k+ transfer limit.

  17. And how are they going to separate Expats (on annual extensions for retirement or marriage or whatever returning after a home country visit) from Tourists.
  18. Maybe locked away in a hotel reception safety box for the holiday duration, so maybe not missed for 14/21 days. I read somewhere (don't remember where) recently of a Thai receptionist who removed cash from safety boxes.
  19. It's a legal requirement for the Hotel/Resort/House Owner to report the arrival of foreigners to stay in their premises. Hotels, etc. get periodic inspection by Immigration to ensure that they doing so. This has only been really enforced for a few years, but the legal requirement has been around for a long time. It is not only people on Tourist Visa's that have to comply, I have been on non-B and non-O visa's and retirement/married extensions for over 17 years living in the same house, and nowadays they check that I still have a valid TM30 report when doing my annual extension.
  20. Never seen wood collected, reckon if they did Thailand would be a sandy desert by now.
  21. In my village there at least 2 trucks come round collecting all sorts of recycling materials including bottles. They take them to one of many businesses that act as collection points. You can either take the bottles loose and get paid by the kilo (same for empty boxes) or take the empty bottles boxed, last time I checked they were paying 9 or 10 baht per box and 1 baht loose.

I did exactly that, apart from the employment termination letter (plus confirmation of termination of WP from labor dept) and the normal pack of papers for retirement, I was asked to write a letter to Immigration stating why I wanted to retire in Thailand, in my case easy - married with 2 kids. I had also been on a retirement extension prior to the school asking me to work for them.

OK, I'll start by saying I'm not with CW 2 years ago I submitted copies of Bank Book covering last 12 months (by lack of activity on the account went as far back as 2018) - wasn't good enough need copy the whole book which goes as far back as 2014, and required a 12 month statement to prove that lack of activity was not due to "consolidated entries", e.g. went below 800k in the morning and replaced in afternoon. Passport pages (2 years ago), copied ID page, latest extension stamp and Visa details transferred from old passports - nope needed copies of all extension stamps and TM47 & TM30 receipts and TM6. Admittedly one offices requirements does not indicate all offices need the same, however being informed makes one more prepared for "need this or that" requests.
