Motorcyclist Dies After Trying to Beat Train in Pattaya
foreverlomsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Guess his "protection" amulet wasn't working on that trip. Does he get counted in the holiday road statistics or does being on a railway line make him a non-road user. -
Visa agent not responding to calls

Especially if the agent was used to get round "shortages" in meeting the requirements. -
Democrats outraged over Christmas Eve migrant drop-off at VP’s house

assume he's a nimby (not in my back yard) or maybe it's undocumented people as new household staff to save money -
Non 0 Marriage Visa (Wise bank transfers)
foreverlomsak replied to Chad91's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Having 400k deposited in a Thai bank for 2 months prior to application is adequate for the "marriage visa" application/extensions, no need to prove 40k per month income as well. -

My 3 accounts (2 different banks) combined are miles below that and all 3 withhold tax at 15%. Not according to the current UK/Thailand double taxation rules (changed 2018 I think), previously, you were taxed in the UK on your UK income and in Thailand on your Thailand income. You can only get a partial refund in the UK for tax paid in Thailand on civil service pensions only.

Been thinking down that lines as well, my concern is how many years back can the Thai Revenue Department assess you for no declaration of income and non-payment of taxes on the income that you bring into the country, been here since 2005. Extract from Thai personal tax rules on the Internet, Personal Income Tax | The Revenue Department (English Site) (rd.go.th). 1.Taxable Person Taxpayers are classified into “resident” and “non-resident”. “Resident” means any person residing in Thailand for a period or periods aggregating more than 180 days in any tax (calendar) year. A resident of Thailand is liable to pay tax on income from sources in Thailand as well as on the portion of income from foreign sources that is brought into Thailand. There is no mention under types income that are taxable, of "pensions" being taxable or alternatively not being taxable, would I be opening a large can of worms if I was to try to claim back the tax withholding on the bank interest? Yes, I know that income comes under the "Double Taxation" agreement, but the current UK agreement (2018) allows for taxation in both countries on your income with very little UK refund (prior to my move here and subsequent "retirement" the agreement was simple "Income in UK taxed UK, income in Thailand taxed in Thailand").

All "retirement" extensions I've had have been processed (and stamps added to passport) while sitting in front of the IO, in three locations (Tak, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun), only once been asked to come back after lunch, because an Australian was arguing with the senior officer as to what the requirements were, and couldn't get sign-off on my application. Sure your delay wasn't caused by an agent?

Several Vehicles Damaged In Double Crash On Bypass Road
foreverlomsak replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
yes they are, where 1/2 a car length is free in the next lane over, plenty of room to get in there so long as I indicate after moving so the person I've cut off knows it was intentional. -
How would you suggest they find the overstayers & people on dodgy visas, without speaking to farang and checking passports. Or maybe you think only tourists go to pubs, clubs, walk in the streets, etc. If you think Thai Immigration is heavy handed, you should check out the UK Immigration, they visit restaurants, etc., during opening hours and stop all the staff working to check them out, also stand inside and outside the Underground and Railway stations stopping random people from travelling until they have checked their legality.

Police Raid Pattaya Club At 3 A.M., 16 Hookah Burners Seized

Why? Who in authority says so? -
Depends on who you ask, example Looked at an electric quad bike for round town, the shop assured me there would be no problem in getting it "plated" then insured. An RTP "traffic police officer" that I knew who spoke good English (so no language problems) said no way would they be "plated" as they are classed as agriculture vehicles and not for use on the public roads. Who do you believe - a shop that wants to sell it (make money), or somebody that can fine you (make money) for using it.

Thailand going cashless. Are you for or against it?
foreverlomsak replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
easy, multiple accounts in multiple banks, helps with money laundering -
What happened ? - asked me for my passport and where I lived, deflated a bit when they realized I was in my local town which is only 15 mins. from my house and the passport could be accessed easily, they studied the photocopy I provided, gave me a stern lecture about carrying my passport at all times, to which I replied the head of the RTP said a couple of years ago we shouldn't. On that note photocopy handed back and I was sent on my way. Were you detained? - only long enough for the above to happen. Were you just walking along the street? - from where I parked the car to one of the local shops. Think I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, they didn't get anybody in the hotel for TM30 so thought to have a go at me.
-
I was stopped on the street by armed 3 Immigration Officers, mid-morning, who demanded to see my passport, which I didn't have on me, only had a copy of the relevant pages, was forcefully informed that it was a requirement for all foreigners to carry their passports at all times. Photocopies are not acceptable as proof that you are here legally, provision of Thai ID (Driving License and Pink Card) for proof of local address was waved away with "they mean nothing to us". They had just come out from a hotel as I was walking by, presumably failed to find anybody there without a TM30, so decided to have ago at me.

I thought it was bare girls you wanted to see, now you say bare you.

Thailand E-Extension Website
foreverlomsak replied to Resident Alien's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The way I read the announcement elsewhere it is going to be rolled out as a trial in Bangkok first. You submit your application and pay the fee online, then you will need to go to Immigration to prove your identity and submit the backup paperwork, bank statements, etc. Hope I'm wrong in the way I have interpreted the report. -
