wifi 2.4 no dongle but the router supplied by the 3BB installer a couple of weeks ago. Here's a pic of the test I just did. This is higher than other tests I've done recently.

Had 3BB installed at our house in Korat recently. We have the 1gb/300 deal. So far I'm happy enough, everything I do if faster. But I've done numerous speed tests using different apps and they all show d/l speeds of 50mb/60mb/70mb, so where the hell is my other 900+? I don't understand, so is there a better way to test the speeds? We do live out in the boonies, so is that a factor? Or could something be wrong with the installation and we need to contact 3BB and have them come back out?

Yes, if DIY that's best, do what you need to do in BKK, then head back to wherever and marry locally. But in the case I mentioned above that particular agency offered the complete streamlined process all in one day. You'd leave Pattaya early morning and return late afternoon legally married. From what I've read here it seems unlikely one could get it all done in a day any more, but you never know, a slick agent who has greased the wheels along the way could possibly still get it done.

Yes even farang marrying farang in Thailand still need to have the translations done, the translation is for the Thailand staff and Thailand records.

Several times I've brought packets of parsley seeds (both the flat Italian & the curly English parsley) from Australia to Thailand and attempted to grow parsley here, but nothing ever grows. Yet parsley does grow here. The other day I bought 2 big bags of beautiful dark green curly parsley in Big C at Khon Kaen. So what's the secret? What are the parsley growers who supply Big C doing that I'm not?

I was considering remarrying about 12 years ago. I saw an agent in Pattaya and for around 15,000 Bt they offered a 1 day service. They told me they had a streamline service and knew the staff at all the places we had to deal with, they also took care of all the paperwork, they knew every step of the procedure. The deal was we would depart from agent's office early morning, drive to UK EMM in BKK to get the Affidavit. I would have to pay for that, the only extra charge, everything else was included in the 15,000 Bt fee. Then to their favorite translation service, then to the Ministry, then to the Amphur office, where they knew staff they regularly dealt with. Then drive back to Pattaya. All in 1 day. But as I said that was 12 years ago, and there's been the pandemic, so perhaps there are many changes now. It would still be worth checking with several agencies in Pattaya or BKK to see if any are still offering a fast streamlined service.

Unless there have been changes since I had my Thai marriage, you need to go to your embassy and get a Affidavit of Freedom to Marry. That document then needs to be translated, then taken to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be certified. Then you go to the amphur and get married. If I was going to get married again I'd prefer to do it with an agency as there's a fair bit of running around involved, and I guess the agency fee includes a bit for palm greasing that'll get you faster service.

Driving Thai car into Cambodia for a few nights at Koh Kong.
grain replied to grain's topic in Cambodia General Chat
I've actually gone off the idea now, after reading: "National Road 48 is being worked on. They are doing all of it at the same time. It's rough and very dusty and lots of trucks moving around." Plus the Insurance and License that you point out. Think we'll just remain in Thailand. Thanks anyway for your reply. -

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated. -
Despite what I said then I've now reverted back to Win 10. I'm working all day with music & image files, lots of cutting, pasting, renaming and resizing, all these functions I found more tedious on Win 11. Everything I want to do works very well with Win 10, at first I thought Win 11 was faster, but now using Win 10 again I haven't noticed any difference.

I've lived in Thailand for many years, on retirement ext. The money will be used for living expenses in Thailand, I could consider buying a condo too, and I won't repatriate any of it. What I want to know doesn't really concern the Thailand end but the Australia end. Are there regulations about that amount, special forms/declarations, will their be deductions in Australia?

Thanks for your reply. I'll check Wise. As for more details about my circumstances, well what more do you need? Aussie citizen, I have Aussie bank account, when I sell the flat I'll have approx $aud 300K paid into my CBA account and I want to know the easiest, fastest, least complicated way to get that money into my Thailand bank.

The beauty of using an agent.
grain replied to JeffersLos's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For about 10 years when I lived in Pattaya I used Darren at KeyVisa, everything was kosher, I had the 800K Bt in the bank, I just couldn't be bothered doing it myself, it was easier to pay someone. Then I moved to Korat and don't know if there are agents here, so the past few years I do it myself. It's been very easy actually. I do pop in and see them a week or so beforehand to find out exactly what they require, I roll up in the morning on the day with everything prepared, it usually takes about 1 hour and I'm on my way with 12 months ext + the re-entries for the coming year. Then we go big shopping at Lotus's and Makro. -
I tried Win 11 a few times over the past year or so and never liked it at all and always quickly reverted back to Win 10. However, just yesterday I got offered a new update to Win 11 so gave it a try and I'm surprised how much better it is, everything is much faster, so now it's a keeper for me.

So the arrival forms are now back
grain replied to grain's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OK, thanks I wasn't aware of that. So my post is useless. Maybe a mod can delete it. -
I flew into DM a month ago and no arrival forms, but yesterday I entered at Friendship Bridge NK and they issued the arrival forms. I also had a strange exchange with a female Imm officer there, she seemed like a nasty one who was in a bad mood. I have a retirement ext + re-entry visa, and she asked me rather sternly where I planned to go now. I was baffled as 40 years of entering Thailand at various points I've never been asked this. So I told her I'm stopping the night in a NK hotel and tomorrow I'll go to Pak Thong Chai. So she immediately asks me why I'm going to PTC. I said I live in PTC, I'm registered at Korat Imm, and asked her can't she see all that on her computer. Anyway, that was that and off I went. But it seemed strange to me as I always thought I could go anywhere I bloody well pleased in Thailand.

Parking at Nong Khai, near border
grain replied to FriendlyFarang's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm currently in Laos on holiday, we left our car in a carpark close to the immigration center on Monday morning, it's in a secured compound, with 24 hour attendance, 100Bt per day. If coming from Nong Khai city when you reach the bridge/border area, you get to a T-junction, the Imm is to your right and the carpark is on the corner left hand side. It's very easy to find. There may be other carparks as well, I only found this one. -
Going back to Savannakhet.
grain replied to Benjamin H's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, so avoid Fridays unless you want a weekend in Savan. A good mate of mine lives in Savan and his morning walks take him past the Thai Consulate, he says there are long lines...up to 150 people, daily. He's sent me photos of the lines of people waiting to enter. So be prepared for this. -
Seems very suspect to me. I guess it would be possible to slit one's own throat but I imagine it's extremely difficult, and why? If one wants to top oneself it's easy enough to buy a bunch of sedatives and drift off to a peaceful, painless death. Slashing wrists would be far easier to do than the throat. Anyway, RIP these 2 men, who were more than likely murdered.

HelloFresh Drops Thai Coconut Milk After Peta’s Monkey Labour Drive
grain replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"were forced to spend long hours climbing trees and picking coconut." That's what monkeys do...they climb trees and pick things. -
Redmi Note, excellent and very affordable. I had the Note 7, cost me 6000Bt, now I have the Note 10, got that last year for 6000Bt. I highly recommend looking at Xiaomi Redmi. I also have a Xiaomi laptop I ordered from China last year. Very good products and good prices.
