  1. I wonder what they do with it? Perhaps it is sold; you're assuming that the OP's claim is correct (after he does nothing more than walking past the counter once a week doing his 5 minute "survey")!
  2. How many hours each week do spend there counting the customers and noting what they buy to rationally make that claim... five minutes, perhaps, when you walk past?
  3. I'm guessing that you meant "...enough time to maintain his proficiency..."? By careful use of his time, no doubt; why are you so bothered about how he spends his time? If you're trying to claim that he can no longer qualified to hold his pilot's licence, why not just say it?
  4. "This could be like saying John Travolta piloted a B727 in his time". Nothing like that, at all, as he seems to be seriously experienced owning several planes and having been flying for years. He flew the plane himself to Bangkok after taking delivery from the manufacturer, Daher. "Daher has delivered the first TBM 930 to be based in Asia. It was delivered in December to Anutin Charnvirakul, who previously owned a TBM 850 turboprop aircraft. The new TBM 930 was ferried by Charnvirakul from Daher’s Tarbes, France production facility to Bangkok in December, departing from Europe after a ritual Thai Buddhist blessing." https://www.corporatejetinvestor.com/news/daher-celebrates-first-tbm-930-based-in-asia-151/
  5. The truth could also be that he did pilot the plane. Don't believe everything a AN poster writes especially when he doesn't include anything to justify his guesses!
  6. IMHO it is singularly unfortunate (to put it mildly) that you have only now chosen to make that fundamental point clear. I don't care but it is singularly unfortunate (to put it mildly) that you have chosen now to make it fundamentally clear how you misinterpreted my post.
  7. I told them that when I came to Thailand almost 14 years ago. That's when the current rules weren't being applied...try it now.
  8. Is he? How do you know that? Perhaps he was trying to be gratuitously alarmist about some caps and drink containers being sold.
  9. It was supposed to be a soapy massage parlour Was it? Says who? So what?
  10. You're "warning" us about caps etc. being sold? Why, what's the danger?
  11. It's more difficult to understand your comment than the OP! What does this mean?... "...in my recent experience with kasikorn. My phone, is on its way out".
  12. All that's irrelevant to my comments on accounts being closed in the UK and receipt of state pensions in Thailand.
  13. Sorry but you are incorrect. I'm not incorrect, I have been referring all along to UK state pensions.
  14. No, I do not (apart from knowing what has been happening recently and what current requirements are) but then I did not imply, nor state, that it is illegal. You could always call/email your bank and tell them specifically that you're non-UK resident and ask them what effect that may have on your account.
  15. There never is until that time comes but there has been so much talk about it recently, hence this and many other threads, that there is every indication that being a non-UK resident account holder, your account could be living on borrowed time. There is a way to find out, of course, and that is to call your bank and tell them that you are a non-UK resident and ask them what that means for your account.
  16. Expat, non-UK resident pensioners do not need a UK account to receive their pension.
  17. The true face of Thailand. An utter disgrace. The "true face" of every country, i.e. most countries, that permit tourists in, that includes your own!
  18. No, she could not do that, legally, with a car that does not belong to her. The car would become part of your estate and then inheritance laws/your will, would apply.
  19. More like retroactive actually - in this case called 'pulling the rug from under' with no concern for the consequences! You're right but it's actually retroactively and retrospectively. Pulling the rug from under those who know full well that their banking could be living on borrowed time but refuse to accept it until it happens...then the whinging starts!
  20. That is the point, exactly, that was fifteen years ago. Banking regulations have changed since then. So many people have blinkered themselves into not seeing that current banking protocol can be applied retrospectively to expat customers who no longer fit the requirement that to have a UK bank account the holder must be UK resident. I do not wish account closure on anyone but those non-UK residents in that position must not be surprised, nor indignant, when their turn comes around.
  21. Regular prisons (such as Klong Prem) are nowhere near as bad as the pictures suggest IDC is.
  22. Did I say that I was not against Putin? Here's a clue...no, I did not,
